My god how young they were. How young we were. One of my all time favorite"brat pack" movies. I'm going on a 80's movie marathon now. Pretty in Pink, 16 candles, the breakfast club, weird science, man these were the best f@cking movies ever! I can sit and re=watch them, feel happy and sad at all cues, be surprised and lol all the same parts. It just won't ever be old for me. It's like yesterday I saw these movies for the first time, and omg I'm not a kid or a teen anymore,4 a long long time now

Duckie is simply a metaphor for any guy who was head over heels for a girl that was completely oblivious to the fact that he was completely in love with them...and eventually rips his heart out through his ass and feeds it to him...a sad tale indeed...Blaine on the surface would seem like the better choice...but as time goes on, a dude like Blaine shows his true colors and beats Molly Ringwald like a rented mule...they wind up on Jerry Springer wondering what went wrong...and Duckie just laughs

@computerliefde Yeah, they actually even shot the original ending with her and Duckie. That's why Andrew Mccarthy's hair looks so weird at the end. He was shooting a movie where he had shaved his head for it. Part of the reason John Hughes changed it was because Molly Ringwald said she didn't really feel the chemistry between Andie and Duckie. That's why in Some Kind of Wonderful the two friends end up together.

I think the reason Andie choose Blaine in the end is because Duckie will always remain her bestest friend ever no matter what happens. And Blaine would make a great boyfriend in the end.
