If you played the game, you should understand why he is saying that. Sure, someone who has not played this game in the least will find this pretty weird and stupid, but remember that all of them have no hearts (Roxas kind of does), and they can't laugh or feel things, and the ice-cream was a sign of their friendship, you just have to understand the story. And the story for KH is very, very good :)
I love Kingdom Hearts but if he played the game he should know that Roxas was forgetting all about Xion since she was defeated by him and that she has half of sora's memory so does roxas but you guys c it in KH 2. In my opinion he was one of his best friend and he only remember having ice cream with her and Axel but to me the line was just weird. I always cry at that moment when she disapearing. It made sense to me. The interpretation I've read is that he's a Nobody and thus inherently doesn't understand emotions. He can't be sad that she's going (at least, he can't understand it) so as far as he knows 'friends' are people you eat ice cream with.

@LJ7117 well, i understand you there. but remember, Xion wasn't just Roxas's best friend. she was his only friend besides Axl. It's not really about ice cream, it's about losing someone close to you. someone that you have the most amazing memories with. This scene is sad because it explains how heartbreaking it is to have to move on with your life without someone you love.
Okay. to sum this up in a few words, for those who don't get it:
Roxas was taught by Axel into thinking that the only thing friends do is hang out and eat ice cream. Xion was a dear friend to Roxas and that was the only thing he could say.
Quite frankly, I was already thrown into tears of sadness when he said that in the game.

I know it sounds weird, but when put into context, it makes a lot of sense. You see, Roxas has no feelings, and therefore, doesn't understand things like love or friendship. Roxas, Xion Axel, decided to try to become friends by following the examples put on by the kids of Twilight town. As such, they all eat ice cream together, although they can't understand friendship. Therefore, eating ice cream is all Roxas makes of friendship, and these words mean, to him, that he's losing a friend. Deep.

I kept the first KH game even after we sold our PS2. It's that awesome, and the other entries, sadly, don't measure up (never played BbS). They're good, but not great.
And the reason for the line: from what Roxas gathered from Axel, best friends sit at the top of a clock tower eating ocean-flavored ice pops, run around Disney worlds beating up shadow monsters with a giant key, and help wierdos in black cloaks come closer to existing.

The other games do make the series alot more complicated than it probley needed to be and I can only guess they're doing it for some big event in KH3, though this is just an assumption, it will be pretty bad if they manage to mess everything up after going to so much trouble to explain every little thing they feel they need to. I suppose we'll see if they ever get around to finishing it.
@stop23456 Well, Square uses the KH series nowadays as a cheap moneymaker with all the dumb spin-off games for handheld consoles instead of lifting their lazy greedy asses and develop a KH3 game for the PS3. I mean, the first one was released 2002. The second was released 2005. And... it's fucking 2011 now, with no KH3 in sight. Hell; God of War was released 2005, and it has been concluded with a third game in 2010 - last year! And even so, they had time to do 3 handheld games as well. WTF?!

As for the 3DS title..It doesn't suprise me too much but only because its a sequel to Coded which was a sequel to 2 (even though you only need to watch the ending of coded and thats it) Since Coded was on the DS I can't say I'm too suprised they jumped to a higher powered handheld. But I can imagine its annoying. I think the easiet thing to do is just ignore them.
@stop23456 I still think they could've technicly end after the first game, just changing the ending a little. It feels like everything after that gave us nothing. Once again, God of War didn't give us this bullshit. We even saw hints of games to come in the first game (no idea if you've played them, but I am a big fan of them). All of the games, 1, 2 and 3, all got stuff to tell up to the point where he kills all the Gods. Kingdom Hearts doesn't seem to know what it wants to do nowadays.
@kurvos Yeah its quite the confusing mess for now, till they start to finish it up and hopefully make sense of it, Coded and the 3DS Kingdom Hearts do take place after 2 though, so at least theres some progress, but I at least hope theres more in the 3DS one than there was in Coded.

But I'm probably mostly like this because I don't play handheld games... and if I do, I don't get they develop games like these to it. OK, does anyone get it??? It's not the fact that he's asking "who will I have ice cream with?" It's that when Roxas, Axel and Xion had ice cream, they could just hang out and be friends. He's pretty much saying, "If you die, who will be my friend?" Like stop23456 said, having ice cream together is a sign of their friendship together and it's something Roxas holds dear to him.

I know it sounds weird, but when put into context, it makes a lot of sense. You see, Roxas has no feelings, and therefore, doesn't understand things like love or friendship. Roxas, Xion Axel, decided to try to become friends by following the examples put on by the kids of Twilight town. As such, they all eat ice cream together, although they can't understand friendship. Therefore, eating ice cream is all Roxas makes of friendship, and these words mean, to him, that he's losing a friend. Deep.

I kept the first KH game even after we sold our PS2. It's that awesome, and the other entries, sadly, don't measure up (never played BbS). They're good, but not great.
And the reason for the line: from what Roxas gathered from Axel, best friends sit at the top of a clock tower eating ocean-flavored ice pops, run around Disney worlds beating up shadow monsters with a giant key, and help wierdos in black cloaks come closer to existing.

can i have evryone's attention? think about it this way! Roxas then was only 357 days old therefore he has to have some kind of innocence. with him being a nobody and not knowing the feeling of love (remember roxas having his memories lost got his emotions in return) so he can only think about Xion the only way he can feel comfortable around her. having ice cream having a great time. so it's not a horrible line it's just a sign of how little understanding roxas knew at the time.

The only reason he says that is just because how much the whole thing means to him. Its not exactly about the Ice Cream, its about the three of them sitting together, being friends. Having Ice Cream together is a sign of their friendship together and its something Roxas holds dear to him. Thats the reason for the line.

I am a constructive reviewer who can analyze all these points. You're just too much of a fan to face it yourself, as it looks. But maybe I am wrong; no idea. @kurvos *shrug* I was more basing my opinions on just the Nobodies themselves, not the other games. The other games do make the series alot more complicated than it probley needed to be and I can only guess they're doing it for some big event in KH3, though this is just an assumption, it will be pretty bad if they manage to mess everything up after going to so much trouble to explain every little thing they feel they need to. I suppose we'll see if they ever get around to finishing it.

@stop23456 Well, Square uses the KH series nowadays as a cheap moneymaker with all the dumb spin-off games for handheld consoles instead of lifting their lazy greedy asses and develop a KH3 game for the PS3. I mean, the first one was released 2002. The second was released 2005. And... it's fucking 2011 now, with no KH3 in sight. Hell; God of War was released 2005, and it has been concluded with a third game in 2010 - last year! And even so, they had time to do 3 handheld games as well. WTF?!

@stop23456 Yeah... when I saw a trailer for "Kingdom Hearts 3DS", I first thought "Man, a third game? Finally. Was almost worried Square would butcher the franchise completely." And... of course, it's for a new handheld console. Talking about misleading.
But if you ask me, they already lost me storywise with the second game. I mean, why make the backstory of Ansem so ridiculously complex? If someone asks you who Ansem is, you will need 30 freakin' minutes to explain it properly.

As for the 3DS title..It doesn't suprise me too much but only because its a sequel to Coded which was a sequel to 2 (even though you only need to watch the ending of coded and thats it) Since Coded was on the DS I can't say I'm too suprised they jumped to a higher powered handheld. But I can imagine its annoying. I think the easiet thing to do is just ignore them.

@stop23456 I still think they could've technicly end after the first game, just changing the ending a little. It feels like everything after that gave us nothing. Once again, God of War didn't give us this bullshit. We even saw hints of games to come in the first game (no idea if you've played them, but I am a big fan of them). All of the games, 1, 2 and 3, all got stuff to tell up to the point where he kills all the Gods. Kingdom Hearts doesn't seem to know what it wants to do nowadays.

@kurvos Yeah its quite the confusing mess for now, till they start to finish it up and hopefully make sense of it, Coded and the 3DS Kingdom Hearts do take place after 2 though, so at least theres some progress, but I at least hope theres more in the 3DS one than there was in Coded.

But I'm probably mostly like this because I don't play handheld games... and if I do, I don't get they develop games like these to it.
