There is no question that she is a talented violinist-and did admirable job on this piece that is fraught with difficulties. It's more than appregios and scales. While she is not a great master she is no intermediate. Still she sort of has that "Liberace" thing going on in a female way and while I certainly would not wish to offend her, I am trying to decide if she is a serious violinist or a Las Vegas entertainer, or perhaps a cross over, she can be sexy with less Vegas going on...

i feel that she 'rushed' the whole piece. hard to enjoy when it sounds like this. it reminded me of a pinchas zuckerman concert with him playing mozart no5, looked so bored on staged & just played 'rushed' to get it over with to collect his paycheck.

to me heifetz always played 'fast' but never 'rushed'.

Xenia has amazing composure, before an orchestra that is obviously trying to anticipate the flexible rhythm of the piece. If you were to hear the composer (avail. on YouTube) you'll hear what the piece has become. Yes, they took out part of the piece, probably a video edit. It still shows a great violin and a very good violinist. In classical music, it is not critical to be beautiful, but probably adds to the entertainment value, not the musical value. The audience clapped vigorously....
