  • how did you train him because i just got a gcc 2 weeks ago and he doesn't trust me fully yet plez help.

  • letting you under their wings is a 9 out of 10 on the trust scale, if anyone has any questions on green cheeks just send me a youtube message, i have had and trained 2 in the past, they are super smart and can be trained to do most tricks a that you can teach a dog and some other unique ones.

  • How tame was your bird when you got him? Like did he know all those tricks like going on his back and stuff? I have the exact same kind of bird as you actually, and he learned how to step up, but he can be a bit nippy and if he feels like getting off my finger he'll just jump and glide right down.

  • Thats darling OMG

  • Can I ask a totally non conure related question - who is the artist in that song?

  • I have three probs my green cheek conure wont let me touch his back and wont lay on his back or any thing and i just cant find a good reward treat to give him. Recomandations?

  • you have a yellow sided conure

  • hi i just adopted a sun conure he is very tame when i comes to step up and he doesn't bite at all but he wont let me turn him over or pet him as much I also try to give him treats and fruits but he wont take it from my hand, but as soon as i put it down he goes for it..I'm home most of the day so I'm always carrying him and talking to him but he still does not seem to trust me what can i do to gain his trust...

  • Hi, I have a green cheeked conure that i purchased from my pet store. the lady who runs the pet store was able to bring him out of the cage and everything, and i held him also without any problems. I now have him home, but when i go to gently get him to step out of the cage, he bites. For anyone who has been bitten by a parrot, they can rip skin pretty easily lol. He is 6 1/2 months old, how do i train him to not tear my skin off?

  • @MrJmo1991 What its doing is trying to establish a pecking order. If you gently press your finger against its chest and it bites you, lock him up, put a blanket over the cage and walk away. Try again a few hours later, and repeat if necessary. Eventually he will step up to you. Just be patient, they are smart little birds.

  • @nana2226 would it be bad to use a glove, cause he kind of smarts when he bites lol

  • @MrJmo1991 you have to blow in there face pick them up with both hands because it will get them in the habit of doing that because it tells them you are scared of holding them my parrot bites me sometimes but i just blow in his face and his fine know

  • When i am sad the easiest thing to make me happy is some cute little fluffy parrots, you have just made my day!

  • love your greencheek. What is the name of this song?

  • This is great! I just got mine two days ago, and I'm training him with a clicker. He still won't sit on my finger no matter what I do, but he will let me touch him and pet him...he just won't sit on my finger! :(

  • @heymissyk If you can touch him, try GENTLY pressing your finger against his lower chest and see if he steps up that might work then say the command you want him to learn for stepping on your finger and give him some treats when he does it. Sorry if it doesn't help.

  • hey there. i want to adopt a green cheek. i live in orange county. do you know of somewhere i can get one around OC or LA county? thank you.

  • Go to bird breeders . com

  • i bought a green cheek conure 2 days ago his only 6 months old.. is my first time with a bird of my own... he let me touch him but i dont know how to put him on my fingers? do u have any tips?

  • Most conures like safflower seeds so it is a great reward. When your bird is on the its pirch, lightly push your finger against his/her chest and say "step up". Your bird will automatically step on your finger, but remember to reward them with a treat so they will remember what you've just taught it. Some birds are faster learners than others so remember to be patient

  • @nana2226 I just got my Green Cheeked Conure 2 days ago and i taught him how to come up on my hand and shoulder but I dont use treats and he listens fine. Im sure he will even listen better if i give him treats so I think ill go get him some :D But I just say "good boy' and 'Gaget" in a high pitch voice and pet his neck and that seems to be fine for him and he loves the attention. Id like to teach him how to lay down on his back

  • i just bought a baby green cheecked conure and i was woundering y he wont let me hold him yet have you got any tips for training him to sit on my finger , dose it hurt wen thy bite

  • We adopted a Conure 2 weeks ago, but it was never tamed by its previous owners and it flew away when we were moving it to our house! but we still have a parrot and some stray birds who lost there owners or were abandoned.

  • cute bird, what song is that playing? It's awesome.

  • I have a brand new baby Green Cheek - he is starting to like being on his back and having his head scratched - how do you train him/her to stay?

  • thanks so much!

  • How cute! What do you give for a reward?

  • We give him safflower seeds and he loves it.

  • did you mean sunflower seeds? how old was your conure in this video?

  • Safflower seeds. Not sunflower seeds. They are tiny and white.

  • My conure likes sunflower seeds more than safflower seeds, lol. XD
