  • Do those primer-only rounds cycle well? It seems like they might not have enough power.

  • @SolidWorm88 they do not cycle

  • Nice vid

  • any one heard of the american eagle 22 rounds? there super cheap and work perfectly in a ruger 10/22, i had a 400 round box and used them all and didnt have one jam or missfire, and there only about 2$ or 3$ a box for 50 rounds, but no one uses them!

  • @diffles09 I've used em before. there good rounds but I can get Federal Value Pack 550rds at Wally World for about half the price and they function just as good in my Ruger.

  • @diffles09 I've used them, they cycled perfectly in my old Rem 522 Viper. They got kinda pricey lately, so i started using a lot of Federal bulk pack, which I've found to be some of the best bulk ammo. Haven't tried them, or anything yet, in my new Ruger 10/22.

  • @diffles09 That American Eagle stuff is good. I got some a while ago and the casings all said Federal on them. I think they are just federal rounds in a cheaper box.

  • @LakeErieFising All american eagle stuff is federal. I shoot alot of the AE .223 rounds. Oddly enough haven't tried them in .22lr. might have to get some for giggles. But the high power rounds are decently priced for their quality.

  • @ThatDudeSirraj I've shot both the AE .223 and .22LR. Oddly enough they both leave the same sized hole on paper targets :)

  • @diffles09 yeah at bimart you can get a box of 400 for 9 buck i be leave Fedral makes american eagle ammunition

  • When I heard Velociraptor I was in for the duration regardless. Thanks for the comparison.

  • Oh my I didnt know that .22lr did so much damage. I an owner of a Marlin .60 rifle also but i had so much doubt whether to use it as homedefense or not . I'm impressed. Nice video and thank you! ; )

  • @MrTimbo305 A .22LR out of a rifle is a powerful round with good shot placement. I wouldn't wan't to get hit with it.

  • "mussel velocity" hahah

  • Next time I go hunting wet phone books, I'm taking a velociraptor. They'll hunt you down and kill you. Saw it in the movies.

  • velocitor now pronounced velociraptor

  • try tracer or incindiary rds i wonder if the burning would make a bigger hole

  • You might want to learn to read/spell. I hear those skills come in handy in this day and age.

  • You should make a test with a CCI stinger and Aguilla SS Sniper 60gr

  • Love this vid!

  • Sometimes I actually carry my .22LR pistol as a self-defense weapon (although generally carry a 9mm) so in your opinion, what is the best .22LR ammo for that?

  • @adric22 CCI velocitors or stingers(if your gun cycles them). neither will likely expand out of a short barreled pistol but what makes a .22 a deadly round is it ricocheting around the body cavity.

  • @adric22 Velociters, all though .22 shooting and someones stomach or chest region, if they wanna kill you, they will, a 22 wont stop them......9mm hasnt stopp angry people even before!

  • The yello jackets were already my nomber 1 ammo but now i like them even more...... They don't come cheep tho there about $22 for a 100 pack.

  • just bought my first 22 lr so this is very helpful on which ammo to buy.

  • Them yellow jackets are great for killin coons. i can kill a coon with 1 shot if i get it anywhere near the vital organs instantly but cant with others like whinchester target loads and federal hollowpoints

  • them remington yellow jackets are great bullets i can kill a coon 1 shot if i get it in the head or near the vital organs but some others like federal dont do near as much damage as them.

  • OK, it's not rocket science people. PUT THE CAMERA ON A TRIPOD! Or learn to move the camera slowly. Also, if your camera doesn't have macro capability don't act like it does and give us blurry non useable images.

Between the excessive camera movement and out of focus close-ups I got a headache watching this otherwise informative video.

  • i did a test like this and the federal spifire round had the pest penetation

  • Would you recommend the Aguila 22 shells for house hold pests like pigeons and doves ? Are they really quieter than a pellet gun ?

  • try the winchester blazers theyre 40 gr rdnose

  • try yellow jackets on birds.........there naaaaaaaaaaaaasty

  • WTF no stingers?!?

  • Can u get velociraptors at wallmart or big five and are the expensive, I want a good round to kill a rockchuch without it blowing it up and u already have a ruger 10/22

  • @rcjunky53654 I've never seen velocitors at walmart and we don't have big five where I live. I see them at Academy, Cabella's and other sporting good stores.

  • My main gripe is, if the bullet didn't belong in the box you should have just not included the box. It makes for far less confusion. Instead of trying to explain why you have some random box with a bullet next to it, but the box and the bullet don't belong together.

  • yah test em fro accuracy now...yellowjackets are shiters velocitors are AWESOME

  • @devonwesticles Yes the velocitors are and excellent round, there the same in accuracy as the CCI mini mags. Hot rounds that will cycle in all automatics, unlike the stingers which are longer and can have cycling issues

  • Can you test a Barret 50 cal like the one in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2?

  • @ScopedPewPew why? its such a noob weapon. Maybe I'll test the intervention

  • @hugo2x I wasn't serious, lol. I was actually wondering if you could test a 12 gauge on some drywall or something.

  • where can you buy the powderless bulletts

and can you make a vid shooting a squirrel or bird with the shotshell?

  • @MarshallOutdoors You can order the Aguila Super Colibri ammo from CheaperThanDirt (I have ordered from them before, great service) I've also seen it before at Cabella's.

The shotshell is really only good for killing snakes at ranges no greater than 15ft, so no good for bird/squirrel hunting.

  • I have the same Phoenix Arms hp22a that you have. I've only used the cheap federal rounds and have had zero problems. Question is, have you used the cci velocitor and the remington yellow jackets in yours? If so, any problems? FTE, FTF,...etc?

  • @owens918 I've shot velocitors out of it but not yellow jackets. The velocitors worked just fine. I also tried CCI stingers but there too long to cycle properly.

  • i would love to see a comparison of all rim fires .17 hmr through to .22 WMR would make for great watching. would love to see em all side by side in what they do best.

  • thats all they seem to sell at my walmart is those cheap fed value packs nd the rem in the silver box

  • Thanks dude I didn't know those CCI's could fuck some asshole up. I'm sure two shots can turn some uninvited guest in my house.... Fucking ghetto neighborhood ! But yeah thanks for the tests man ur the best!

  • i think it would be a cooler test if you had some sort of material like jeans or fake fur on top of the phone books. These can affect the hollow points expansion. Nice video though

  • @TALLj29 That's a good idea, I'll do that next time I do a ballistic experiment.

  • I have used all of those rounds in my .22, except for the Calibri, and the excel beautifully.

  • Thats why I load my P22 with velocitors. They are mean

  • Does any1 know if you can get those yellowjackets in the UK?

  • wha is the range of 22lr?

  • Thanks for letting us know that the mussel velocity may be less than advertised. I'll keep that in mind next time I'm shooting shell fish. Is the Velociraptor for shooting small dinosaurs?

  • @CrazeeBS yes, there good for shooting the little green minivelociraptors from jurasic park 2

  • @hugo2x That may be true. However, everyone knows that the CCI T-REX is the "king" of all .22 lr ammo. (More powerful than the CCI VELOCIRAPTOR and with bigger teeth)

  • @CrazeeBS HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

  • why did he soak the phonebook?

  • @cadw600 because the water simulated blood.

  • Nice clip. Interesting results in the wet books. I'm amazed at how well modern 22 ammo penetrates. The velocitor certainly is a bad-ass cartridge. I load my SR22 magazines alternating/staggering CCI segmented hollow-points (32 gr) and velocitors (40 gr.). Best of both worlds ;)

  • take a small phillips screwdriver and push it into the hollow points. it perforates the inside if the hollow point and expands like crazy and fragments. the yellow jackets expand so fast that they wont even exit a 2 in pine board. the result are "explosive" for any squirrel u shoot with it.

  • @TacticalTuckFard LoL, I know, I shot a yellow jacket at a rabbit and the hole wasthe size of a golf ball!

  • @hugo2x i hope you ate that rabbit, or were protecting vegitation and didn't just shoot it to see it die.

  • ok well for the negative comments it does not matter...anyway even though your tests were done ona wet phonebook and not a ballistic gell from what i saw they rounds pretty much acted the same way, ive ben looking for a channel that likes to shoot and test with smaller cal firearms and iam glad i came across your page, the two best rounds i have found for pest control and small game are the yellow jackets which are trunicated hollow points, and the CCI stinger hollow points

  • The GREAT thing about using an old phone book is that they have pages which are numbered. You can state the total number of pages and use the page numbers as a type of precise scale to gage the effect of different bullets to each other. You can see exactly which page they start to fragment and even which page they start to stop going all the way through. Thanks for posting.

  • holly crap dude at 6:00 that hole on the right looks like its been hit with a .45

  • the cci shotshell has lead pellets not steel

  • what do you mean when you say federal is a fake hollowpoint?

  • @looloopklop It is just a little dent on the tip of the bullet, not a hollow cavity that can expand. Take a look at the difference between a federal value hollow and a CCI hollow.

  • Maybe we would see the real holes left if u did not keep finger fucking the book all the hole are about finger sized looking to me..............nahhh im just busting your balls.!!! awsome video i found it vary helpful in finding a good 22hp..good work keep it up man!! thx for the video

  • @dizzyman67 I was thinking the same thing the whole time.LOL I fingured this is you tube and some other asshole probably already said it...

  • @MrSimonGirty I was trying to show the areas of hydrolic shock

  • @hugo2x yes i know and thx for the video lol

  • Zak which one is the best for hunting

  • @MrSimonGirty lol good stuff man

  • i find that the yellow jackets have good preformance i test them on gophers but for small pest i recomend a bullet with a lager bore in the point like abigger hollow point i have a marlin 925r but i found a winchesster that matches the remington and they are cheaper i also have some federals to try and a super velocity winchester

  • Those Colibri rounds are the standard 330fps 20gr rounds.. They make 500fps 20gr's that are called "Super Colibri's"

  • test the aguila 60 grain sniper subsonic

  • coleebree no colebre

  • Winchester Super X .22LRs vs Remington cyclones, you should do that, should be an easy one.

  • Awsome job. Seriously, the ONLY thing I would say is speak a little louder. But that's what a volume knob is for too : ) Otherwise, a perfect, informative video. Great job.

  • @TarmacEJ257 I'm glad you found it informative. I just got that new camera, the one that shot this video had a crappy mic

  • Excellent video. A+ sir. All I would say is speak a little louder. But thats what a volume button is for too :) Awsome job

  • Dude thanks for the vid I own both the remington value back and the yellow jackets.

  • velocy-raptor lol

  • test more .22 bullets

  • @wuyguy I'm about to get a .22 pistol and do a comparison between pistol and rifle

  • Whats the benefit of using a water soaked phone book versus a dry phone book?

  • water helps simulate the hydrodynamic impact of the bullet as if it hits tissue.

  • Thankyou sir for your prompt reply.

  • I would say that the shotshell have no powder, or if they do they have a tiny bit as a friend of mine used to buy them and they sound pretty quiet for a bullet.

  • Velociraptor! LOL

  • jurassic park i got a 308 trex

  • 17hmr and the 22mm bullets ballistic

  • CCI shotshells are expensive, Remington YellowJackets is around $6/50rd. Compare CCI's VELOCITOR and Stingers with Remington Viper (the fastest 22s ?); same price range at around $3/50rd.

  • wtf..... velociraptor like the dinosaurs?

  • wow perfect video 6/5 stars and subscription for you my friend :)

  • what round would you recommend for self defense...the cci stingers or the Remington yellow jacket s ...i have seen videos on both but am unsure about what would be the best?

  • CCI stingers would work great out of a rifle, however no .22LR will expand if fired out of a pistol. Just not enough velocity. but defensively if someone sees you have a gun, they will instinctively run. Criminals want easy targets, don't be one!

  • Thank you alot for the information...a 22 is all I have for now, for a ccw...i do own a 20 gauge w/ buckshot if anyone wants to get in my house! Nice video by the way!

  • if you have children BAD IDEA one pellet will go through sheet rock

get a pistol that shoots 45ACP but not 9mm either its infamous for over penetration if your going to use a shot gun get 4,6 or 7 shot. they should work the best and idont think they will go through sheet rock

  • @wigtrimer

It is much more realistic and responsible to assume that shot #4 and up and certainly 22's will go through any drywall they meet if you were to shoot it. $50 pellet rifles will go through 5 layers of drywall.

A cheap pellet rifle will go through 4-5 layers of drywall.

  • i always shoot cci

  • you should try out the stinger its made by cci

  • i usually shoot cci blazers, and they are neat, they are very hot and loud, how do the federal value pack "brick" rounds shoot? accurate compared to more expensive rounds?

  • Honestly I can't tell the difference at the 25 yards punching paper. I haven't compared them at any farther range. But I like the snappier sound of the CCI's

  • A question,...any FTE or FTF with the Aguila rounds or with the Bulk pack Federal or Remington's? I've had several Stovepipe/FTE's when practicing with rounds using the Aguila Standard Velocity, Remington Target 40gr, and the High Vel. Golden, 36-Gr. Hollow Point from Remington as well using my Marlin 60. For practice, my Marlin is in love with CCI's Standard Velocity 40gr. & the Mini Mags. At $6.47 for 100rds at Walmart, it's a perfect practice marriage!

  • Out of 550 Federal ValPack rounds I had no issue with FTE/FTF, but I had two rounds that sounded real funky when they left the gun. I achieved better groups with CCI Minimags. For hunting small game, CCI takes the win. But for target practice, Federal is my choice for its ridiculous value.

  • Good comparo. The Yellow Jacket is an exceptional round, but it CAN be used for small game. With my Marlin 60, I use a careful, patient headshot for game under 60yrds. It's all you'll even need, with no wasted meat for small game. I've taken squirrel, rabbit & even turkey's this way with the YJ (and CCI Stinger's). My lack of skill keeps me under 60yrds for a headshot though. At @ 30gr. with a little wind, I have to admit to a few errant shots.

  • fuckin love these

  • I used those Yellow Jacket HP's to kill a 200 lbs hog. One round went through and through and the second was found in the rib cage fully expanded. LOVE THE .22! Great vid!

  • Nice!

  • Gotts say that I love this vid man.

  • test the aguila sss(sniper subsonic) it has a 60 grain bullet in a powder filled short casing...they drop alot, but they pack a nice punch...

  • I'll see if I can find some, I also want to compare a short and a magnum to the LR

  • round nosed bullets don`t expand...they just keep goin and goin..

  • are the fiest one s you show loud

  • thanks for the video hugo...very interesting results...i shot and killed a medium size kangaroo with 1 yellow jacket. ive also killed full grown goats with .22lr cci QUIKSHOCK.

  • Goats!? don't tell me Australia has invasive goats now too.

  • We shot it 3 times 3rd shot the bird broke in half...and this is a .22

  • We shot a bird over here in Aus with a Yellow Jacket..........Far out there a nasty bullet

  • not only do almost all bullets expand or open up when they hit a target...they tumble end over end

  • that's interesting, I didn't know they tumble end over end.

  • i think that N3 is wrong...i don`t think that a 22 lr bullet will tumble unless it hits something hard at an angle(not head on)

however,i know that a pellet from a pellet gun does(usually) but i think that is because it looses its shape so easy

  • i have a single shot .22 and i only had one jam with the federal

  • Yellow jackets fragment.

  • @drewd1987 ,not always...try shooting a milkjug at 40 yards...the yellow jackets are better to b used on small game at long ranges

  • I disagree. Because of their fragmenting ability (which they will do w/ proper speed), I believe they were actually designed as pest control rounds at shorter ranges. The 33gr bullet wont carry very far, and will lose too much energy to be effective at long ranges.

The Velocitor, however, is a full 40gr hp round and I believe is designed to take edible game at longer ranges.

IMO, the yellow jacket is awful for anything but pest control...

  • weird

  • Id be interested if you could make a similar video with .22 short , Lr & a .22 mag with the same weight lead .

  • that's a good idea, all have to roll some shorts in next time I do this test

  • I was actually impressed with the amount of damage the bulk Remington round did. Although not as damaging as the CCI and Yellowjacket, for a bulk round it did pretty well.

  • Actually the Remington bulk round had amazing penetration. I had the phone book in front of a piece of half inch ply wood which it also went clean through.

I noticed that the yellow jacket transferred much more kinetic energy to the target upon impact. It knocked the Phone book over while the Rem just went clean through.

  • awesome!!

  • you should do another how to video on your tank. or like a tank tour especially the sump

  • I will soon, I'm working on my new HQI lighting system right now
