She deserves not only your respect but also your gratitude. The University of Michigan was using blatantly racist criteria in its admissions, which is both illegal and immoral. It is Americans like her that keep the spirit of the US Constitution alive.
Worst case of sense of entitlemant ever. She sued a university because they wouldn't grant her immiedite admission, then blamed "undiserving" minority students for taking her rightful place at U-M.
According to the numbers available on the internet, Asians are even more discriminated against than any other group. So if we can succeed without affirmative action, or with affirmative action working against us, why can't anyone else? ... not being facetious ... sincere question ...
There are no negative stereotypes about you. People who have black sounding names are less likely to get a job than a person with a white sounding name. It is the same for houses too. 70% of whites do drugs but only 10% of them go to jail for it. While 13% and 15% Black sand Hispanics, respectively, do drugs but they are in jail 90% of the time. Until we can live in a world where there is no racial injustice or negative stereotypes, that is when affirmative action is not needed.
@chica476 Read Freakonomics the book or watch the movie for the black sounding name fact. Also watch Tim Wise videos or read some of his books. Structural racism happens all of the time.
What kind of message does this send? If you don't get your way, esp. when it comes to college admissions, you can sue to get in? Please tell me she applied to OTHER colleges besides just one dream school. She could've gone to tons of other schools.
This girl's full of it. "Oh, look at me! I sued U of M because they have affirmative action policies, and I thought maybe they passed me up b/c of it." Yeah, even though she doesn't have an OUNCE of proof affirmative action was the reason they passed her up. Maybe some of the minorities actually were more qualified than her?? I guess that never went through her feeble head.
Whoo689... Assuming you are correct that there were more qualified applicants does not change that a policy of discrimination was in place in the university. As long as those policies remain you will continue to have these types of issues. I also don't think you will find a university in the US that would discriminate against a student during admissions.
Thank you for posting. What a warrior!!

And she is a hottie too. Do I smell envy here?

Somehow she missed that also, the same year she was rejected, over 1400 white people got in too. Who all had lower grades than her....
But I guess "that was ok"....

I'm guessing it might have been the essay, GPA isn't everything on admissions, and her use of the non-word "um" is quite excessive.
She also gives no citation of comparison of when everyone applied.
