the price of oil is determined by the value of the dollar and the supply of oil. the supply of oil is going to decrease a lot because the demand from China where the GDP rises about 11% every year countinues to rise and won't stop. the price of oil will slow when china's demand slows (never). face it we are out of the power loop now

You know you have to laugh at these economists who blurt out gems like "we need more nuclear reactors"....yeah right... leaving a legacy of depleted uranium, toxic and radioactive for 10's if not 100's of thousands of years for subsequent generations to deal with. Nuclear power is not 'free' my friends. Why, instead of always arguing about how are we going to maintain and increase our energy demands, do we never hear an argument for using less. We need to slow down and simplify.

You know, uranium is taken from the ground, and it can be put back in the ground. We just need to be very careful that we don't allow it to get into our fresh water supplies etc.

Uranium taken out of the ground requires a significant amount of enrichment and after 20 years in a reactor you get plutonium (used in nuclear weapons) and a lot of other isotopes that you just don't wanna be near for a very, very long time. A committment to managing nuclear waste, not to mention the plutonium, extends across countless generations. We have no right to commit future generations to our toxic waste, it's disgraceful.

Glass suspension of nuclear wastes is an extremely safe method of disposal and eliminates almost all concerns of groundwater contamination, spills and leakages. Some places like old non-productive mines make excellent disposal sites for glass suspended nuclear waste. In the end the issues you mentioned were addressed quite a long time ago.

Nuclear waste can now be suspended in glass rods, like locking it back in a rock. Glass suspension of nuclear wastes is one of the safest disposal methods. There is no leakage and no contamination. Glass lasts +100,000 years with very little decomposition, The only thing that needs to be considered is latent radiation which is only a minor problem really.
