  • As someone who has never created a website before and knows literally nothing about it, this is very bad and not at all helpful as he goes much too fast, I cannot see what he is actually doing. For example at 50 suddenly he is uploading an attachment but no clue as to how he found the attachments button. I have created a site but am unable to find any way of attaching stuff, so I am afraid I must just delete it five minutes after its birth!

  • Ive tried contacting Google they dont reply and the forum to help google users havent a clue. They just tell you to do things you will have already dont like fill in the appeal form ! Google take the piss they disabled my site put it back online then disabled it again an now wont put it back online !

  • DONT use google sites find another hoster. I had a site for over a year and google without any reason disabled it costing me money every day. They dont give any reasons as to why they disable a site or what rules you broke (if any). DONT USE GOOGLE !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!­!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Google is living in some la-la land that only it has access to... my browser can't see any of these menus at all. I tried google chrome, firefox. Ironically, the only unsupported browser Opera shows a few buttons, enough to make, struggle through (and give up) after a few pages.

  • This is good. but not good enough. Can this program also provide some function for file sharing. If I want to share some meta-file, e.g. unfinished photoshop file, which is not the supported file type. Also, some of the functions you provided are also available in Facebook. If you want this product works, you should keep improving it. Or some other website will replace your position. Good Luck.

  • Just to add that we've been testing Google Sites rigorously over the past 5 hours and it hasn't given us any problems at all. We were considering spending several thousand on a database, CMS and web design. This is a real breakthrough for all small businesses, there's no reason not to at least try it.

  • Another Google classic!

    10 years ago we started using Yahoo! Geocities, and at the time it was pretty cool. But Geocities became outdated as competitors overtook them, and the adverts made the sites look very amateurish and unprofessional.

    Fast forward a decade, Geocities shuts down, and Google steps in with a far superior product. Google Sites are easy to set up, easy to edit, and easy to run. The templates aren't great, but HTML editing is allowed, and content is the king/queen anyway.

  • You can get a domain name and link it to your google site. You just add the web address on the More Actions > Manage Site page and then change the CNAME record with the registrar to point to ghs . google . com

  • If you know your HTML, remove header and sidebar and choose theme "Blank Slate". You can then do pretty much whatever you want except obscure the google boilerplate text at the bottom. You can even add CSS using the style= parameter, but you can't use negative margin values. You can, however, get pixel precise placement and remove all the dorky borders and silly stuff.
