I really used to like her singing, but based on this, I think it's time for her to retire. This is pretty bad.

I can see why people think it's not her. I have noticed that her style has changed lately, but she is style beautiful and such massive style. I saw her years ago in concert...but to be honest, I was probably looking more at her husband at the time...

She was 65 years old when this video was recorded. Obviously she must retire now if she is still active. I largely prefer the 1977 version, when Rita was 32. Groups like ABBA never reunited again after the end, just to avoid painfull performances.

As we know with age,some singers loose control of their vocals,not all but some,actually all to some degree or another,so cut Rita some slack,sit back and remember this beautiful song sung by a beautiful woman................out!

This is definitely Rita Coolidge. I had the extraordinary privilege of opening for her christmas concert a few years ago in Texarkana, TX.

She is a great talent and a very kind person. Her voice has changed with age, not damage.

Agree that "late-phrasing" didn't work out so well...

She's doing that "late-phrasing" thing...singing the line 2 or 3 beats after the music has moved on. I hate that. Basically, the accompaniment to a song usually written and orchestrated to compliment the melody. If a soloist sings a line after the orchestration has moved on, it ruins the chord. This is just odd. Is it really Rita?

@revup67 I'd like to think she can still pull this song off in a live setting. She was never an artist that did a lot of yelling or incorrect singing, so I can't imagine why voice would be damaged. Everyone has an off night...maybe this was hers. I still love her recording of this tune.
