  • Can you use Mineral Oil instead of Hoppies?

  • RIP . Brian

  • the way you cleaned that gun probably did more harm than good...

  • does all .22 cal bore brushes hard to push down the barrel

  • I do not like the fact that you do not use a bore guide when cleaning the barrel. I see your ROD bending out of shape and therefore its probably hitting of the chamber wall / throat as it enters the bore...

Also have you put lens covers on the scope to avoid getting oil dirt on them.

  • @shootNbreeze I cant give you ENOUGH thumbs up for that comment!

  • good video, same gun as mine, just wonderin what the name of the oil you used coz i didnt quiet catch it when you said it. thanks for the help

  • olde English wood lemon oil works great on stocks

  • arent u suppose to push it thru instread of reversing it?

  • Why no fiberglass/Plastic rod? They have less of the chance of damaging the rifling

  • this is more damaging than cleaning, you r better off not cleaning at all in this case

  • My .22's bullet is not going into the chamber right , when i pull the bolt back 2 load it the bullet goes up 2 far, jaming it so i cant close the bolt. How do i fix that?

  • @VermonstersinNJ What gun is it?

  • @HCDDWarhero a Remington sportsmaster

  • @VermonstersinNJ Well, the only thing I can tell you to do is to make sure the magazine is seated in the well properly, make sure there is nothing wrong with the ammo, and try pushing the bolt a little faster. If none of those work. Contact Remington.

  • ok thanx

  • you damage the barrel ?

  • No, you don't damage the barrel if you do it right.

  • hey brain it is good too see that someone show you the right way to clean a bolt action nice vid 5 stars

  • You need the clamps. . thanks for sharing. With my bolt action, it's easier to feed the rod from the muzzle tip. . .

  • Never, never never clean a rifle from the muzzle, unless it is a semi-auto or lever action. You will destroy the accuracy of the rifle with the cleaning rod. Even slight damage to the rifling at the muzzle will destroy accuracy.

  • but thens theres risk of damaging the crown, which is why you usaully clean from the chamber

  • bolt action or semi thums^for bolt thumbs down for semi

  • @97sniper Obviously A Thumb Whore, If You Can Read, Its In The Title...

  • Thanks for putting this together. It's nice to see what other people do. Often, the videos about gun cleaning are rally just marketing videos which push products without really cleaning the guns.

  • it is good advice mate, but if i can say so, the device you got to place your rifle on is not very stable. If i can give you my advice, i suggest you make a couple of clamps to hold your rifle still and to make sure it dosnt move as you clean. this is to prevent any exterior damage mainly scratches to the barrel and the but of your rifle. I am not saying it isnt good or bad device, just passing on my humble advice.

  • The rifle holder itself IS very stable. I'm assuming you mean the rifle isn't stable while in it. Thank you for the advice, it jsut acts as basic support.

  • thanks im getting one of these next week and ill be using your vid for reference

  • Cool. I bought mine for 160 and then 190 with 6.5% tax.

  • what do you do with the brush after use?

  • The tooth brush or the rod tip brush?

  • rod tip

  • I just wash it water then dry it off, it's not like a thorough wash though, just a rinse.
