this is nothing new though. openCV's motion capture module has been around from, at least, before 2007 cause i remember using this software on optical sensors in one of my university's robotics workshop in summer back in 2007.
Wow the face recognition technology has really advanced. At this rate by 2030 we will have the capability to track black faces. I heard HP is investing millions of dollars for this.
@OohaButterflyStudios Thanks. Each year Nikon and Canon spends millions to pursue their holy grail. "How to take pictures of inter-racial couples(or dark skin-light skinned people) and not overblowing the contrast like this: bit (dot) ly/gHjGcT
Obviously the technology for motion and object tracking is already here, and have been for several years, but the real-time possibility of this is quite impressive, considering that it's often a very CPU-heavy action that takes time to render.
Looks amazing. What if there're two almost identical object on the screen though? Says, two of the chairs at the end of the clip or twins? What if you block the camera and replace tracking person with someone else at that spot? Looks very promising nonetheless.
Dude, so awesome. At first I was like, yeah yeah, nice white background, but after seeing the secondary person in the picture, I had to digress. High five. The real time scaling is pretty cool too.
Can you try flipping your phone to the front side while out of screen and see if the software tracks it. Also how many manhours were dedicated in developing this software?
Sooo... Is this open source? Can I see how you did it? Please? XD

that ware great when you improve algorithm to be rotation invariant.

so whats the point of tracking?
i dont see why i would want a square on my face
hgk91710 1 year ago
@hgk91710 It dosn't have to be a square. Think shark face or silly hat. Also useful for making a camera follow your face when you move.

everyone here tested "wiggle around".
no one tested spin around quickly.

@TheWingsformarie it only tracks where you select. But maybe if you tried to switch them fast enough it might get them confused.

seems that it is not rotation invariant, right ?

Also, when you selected your phone, how does the algorithm react when you tilt the phone to the side?
shurcooL 1 year ago
It seems like a robust algorithm, good job.
Perhaps you might want to add some temporal smoothing so that the tracking doesn't disappear for shorts periods of time (fractions of a second).
How much CPU power does the algorithm need?
