Criminals do not always have to have guns.

It actually does make sense. Looser gun laws mean less crime (criminals generally don't like being shot). And while accidental shootings may rise in the short term as basic gun safety becomes common knowledge that'll drop off as well.
Remember: Never point a loaded gun at something unless you want it dead.
If it's a real gun always consider it loaded no matter how sure you are it isn't.
@tedrickVonp The murder rates seem to disagree with you. Toronto has fairly strict gun laws and a murder rate of 1.8 per 100K (2004 stats). Houston, a comparably sized city, has lax gun laws and many people carry firearms and Houston has a murder rate of 13.3 per 100K. Robberies & break-ins are also significantly higher in Houston than Toronto. And Houston does poorly even when compared to the MOST crime-ridden city in Canada. The facts do not support you sir.

Quite a number of 'crime guns' are in fact purchased completely legally via private sales. Folks in New York did an undercover investigation into that a couple years ago & found about 60% of gun dealers would sell weapons without a background check, even when told the purchaser couldn't pass one.

It actually does make sense. Looser gun laws mean less crime (criminals generally don't like being shot). And while accidental shootings may rise in the short term as basic gun safety becomes common knowledge that'll drop off as well.
Remember: Never point a loaded gun at something unless you want it dead.
If it's a real gun always consider it loaded no matter how sure you are it isn't.

@tedrickVonp The murder rates seem to disagree with you. Toronto has fairly strict gun laws and a murder rate of 1.8 per 100K (2004 stats). Houston, a comparably sized city, has lax gun laws and many people carry firearms and Houston has a murder rate of 13.3 per 100K. Robberies & break-ins are also significantly higher in Houston than Toronto. And Houston does poorly even when compared to the MOST crime-ridden city in Canada. The facts do not support you sir.

@6611nitro It couldn't hurt. Interestingly enough, many of the firearms that are in the hands of criminals are not purchased illegally. Quite a number of 'crime guns' are in fact purchased completely legally via private sales. Folks in New York did an undercover investigation into that a couple years ago & found about 60% of gun dealers would sell weapons without a background check, even when told the purchaser couldn't pass one.
