What is it about Asian movies? Can they not make a Modern movie - does everything have to be based upon some Ancient time in their history? How about a decent Sci-Fi without Godzilla or a decent Mystery movie. I'm tired of their constant Kung Fu/Emperor-Emperess flicks. How about some good Asian Sci-Fi without the bubbly kids and talking puppets? Can they even Make a real movie? Does everything Have to be about some silly dynasty? They're worse than Hollywood and Bollywood by a far.

yeah in the film zhao yun dies in battle and in the beginning starts out as a peasant who was recruited into liu's army when in fact he started as an officer also zilong never fights cao cao's fictional niece. but this was a good trailer and a fine action power house of a film.

Red cliff in chinese is call che be sorry if my han yu ping ying not good. Yes this is real and is a final battle and all main characther came to fight with cao cao the final battle. In the end cao cao lost and retreated with guan yu chasing him from behind.

I just watched it in original Chinese, but was very dissapointed of it. If you are looking for a movie that has as least some basis of history, this movie sadly will not be one of those. For the entire 1.5 hours and some odd minutes, I watched it with my jaw dropped. There is no history content in this movie at all, and Guan, Zhang and Liu each had less than a minute of apperance in the whole movie!

Resurrection of the Dragon and Red Cliff are two different movies. The first portrays the life of one of Shu Kingdom's Generals, Zhao Yun. His nickname is "Dragon", and hence the movie is named after him. Red Cliff is directed by John Woo, and it has Part 1 and 2. Part 1 was released in China earlier this year, and Part 2 is coming out around Christmas I think. (continue on next post...)

Red Cliff is based on the epic naval battle fought at the Red Cliff between the Wei Kingdom and the joint force of Shu and Wu Kingdoms. Basically both movies are based off the same period in history, the Three Kingdoms Period, but very different perspectives. In my opinion, Red Cliff is much more historical accurate. Actually the story told here are nt true... it is true in certain areas but the director did mix around with the history of the 3 kingdom(as in folk stories)...wad we are expose to are the folk stories of wad happened in 3 kingdoms. If u hav read 3 kingdoms, u would hav noe the horse jumping over the cliff was Liu Bei on another event. Some historian in China have found a totally different story of the real 3 kingdoms history... nt the one we are seeing now...

The history of the 3 kingdoms is real, but this movie is fictional as history never mention Cao Ying or any other chinese girl involved in war (Note: Meng Huo's wife is not chinese). The helmet sux, armor and flag are japanese style. Well I better download this movie rather than go to cinema. I'll be looking forward for John Woo's version. This movie is directed by Korean after all. May be the director wants to create a movie based on MMORPG style. Girls in battle and japanese armor design, lol!
