I dunno... I ride the N every day and it's not so much worse than everything else. I think self entitled shitheads like the poster of this video have a hard time dealing with the fact that there are other people that have to ride the bus. Go live somewhere else besides Paris or New York and you'll realize we have a pretty decent bus system. To all you yuppy fucks.... YOUR PROBLEMS AREN'T REAL.
@ AstroTrain53 - yes he is man , The L and N Train Accomidates all those who live in the regions in the Sunset and Ocean Beach Sections, and this guy had the nerve to sip on his coffee and talk about S.F.Giants Fans who take the N to watch their favorite baseball team ,and he's a asshole for talking all this , i wish he took it up with the elderly or Giants Fans , he'll get bitched out in the quickness...
Indeed! That routes with five other routes that are based on rail run in the street. Only the Judah and four others have it lucky where the the route goes into some areas where the train can run freely from being in mixed traffic! If traffic is heavy, the operator is slapped with NO CHOICE but to run the trains at the speed of the automobile traffic. The operator can increase his speed in the tunnel if he is permitted and there is no train close in front of him.
You know when you're at one of the downtown stations and all you see on the monitor are Ls, Ks, Ms, and Js, and then an N just pops up out of nowhere? That's proof that the N has no real schedule.
If you live in the Sunset District, the N is your only choice. These changes are required! Required! You need some decent public transit in the largest residential district of San Francisco!
I agree completely. It's a primarily residential district that's really spread out with a lot of residents who have mobility issues. It should be obvious to the MTA that the Sunset absolutely demands better transit coverage, meaning not only the N but all the other Sunset lines. Many of the worst Muni lines in terms of service are concentrated in the Sunset. The 28 and 29 are erratic, the 18 and 66 just plain suck, and the 48 has those damn limited hours, just to name a few.
Grew up riding the N (now the F). On a visit to the City I tried the new improved version. Please put the F back on the N line. Could get one every 5-10 minutes (20 late night or weekend). Took 45 minutes from beach to TransBay IN RUSH HOUR. Had more stops. Wasn't perfect. Drivers were rude and drove too fast at night so they could take a longer break.I think they had union back then too. Still, it was better than current nightmare. Design of current cars big part of the problem. Good luck.
All you liberals in SF must like to live that way. You guys keep voting in the most liberal politicians in the city that don't do anything for the real hard working people. They would accommodate criminals than to accomodate the working normal people. Get ride of Unions that run Muni and BART and things would get better.
Maybe they don't run enough N's, but I disagree with the suggestion that old people shouldn't ride Muni, or that drivers shouldn't be allowed to go to the bathroom! Making statements like that show that the author isn't interested in a logical, reasoned discussion about how Muni could run the N better.
I would ride the N judah from time to time myself and of course this is exactly what would happen!!! although try my city Toronto canada, in 20F, with 10" snow!
just goes to show that the New York City Subway will always pwn ALL other subway systems in the world. for this subway system, i dont know what to say and i thought the BART trains were San Fransicos only subway system
N Judah has way too many stops. Takes almost an hour if you ride the whole line. They need to cut out about a third of the stops. And yes, last time I rode it broke down.
Yes! So much hating on the N!!! But... why are we not mentioning the f'edupedness of trains that stop dead halfway to ocean beach? Or how when you want to get home, it's pretty much guaranteed that a muni truck will pull up at 50 mph with flashing yellow lights to take the train waiting at the la playa turnaround out of service?
But the pack theory... the pack theory is brilliant.
Nice video....I've been talking about the "Mighty N" on my site for almost 2 years now....we'd love to have you comment and bring your perspective to The N Judah Chronicles sometime! This was a fun video to watch!!!
That was a good Video. I lived in San Francisco while I was growing up. Used the MUNI system all the time. The trains were the old green and puss yellow monsters that made a whole lot of noise and the sparks off the power lines looked like fireworks.
actually recently the N has been pretty convenient. Especially that nice day at the beach last Saturday.

also, I'm not really clear on why he specifically says not to run more trains during the baseball season? That seems rediculous. You sir, are an ass.

i agree we need at least 3,4,5,6 cars or more service for the busy lines of the muni system

Muni claims that they can't operate a 3 car train with their newer cars because it damaged the overhead wires.

Haha i first went to SF at 17 (now i'm not 17) and ya the muni wasn't so great.
