Marcus Garvey spoke like Paramahansa Yogananda (Gandhi's Guru) -- there is a timber a rhythm to his speech that is very similar.

Garvey is the Father of Modern Black Nationalism and Yogananda was the Father of Modern Yoga.

When Yogananda came to the states he had to give separate classes to his black students in the south (in the 20's) and some of these folks were students of Garvey as well.

Very rich black history in Yogananda's "SRF" organization.

Marcus Garvey played a significant role in trying to bring Africans together in the Carribean and in the new world. His extremist thinking was just what Africans needed back then to make them embrace their blackness. The Africans needed to go back to Africa and govern themselves to establish their own society and their own culture. Things may not have went as planned, but Marcus Garvey did leave a lasting impact.
