How can you hit the dislike in such an amazing song and band like this one ?? please go away, if i find out where you live i'll kick your door down and break every single finger in your hands, and your toes, this way i don't have to make a second trip.
Thanks for uploading this. Limelight was a fun night club. I forgot that it had concerts. Great to see old footage of the band live and actually hear the band instead of the entire crowd.
I always thought (and I was born in 1965 and I loved PJ from their beginnings) that if Jesus Christ himself could sing, Eddie's voice would have been Jesus', and that his voice still is, oh Eddie, I love you, and the night I dreamed you leaning up against an orange Camaro in the moonlight, it was before Wishlist came out, and I said,"Eddie, please be okay." And he said, "Alright."
God i love this song! Thanks to whoever posted it. It makes me cry when i think of those days! Gotta agree with stubborngoat. It was incredible to see them back then. Saw them twice for Ten, once at Lolla and once at Mesa Amphitheatre. At Lolla the crowd went apeshit and tore out the seats when they came on! At Mesa, that show was one of the most transcendent, spiritual experiences i have ever had at a show!! Miss those days a lot! Peace and love to all PJ fans.
everytime, everytime i listend to this epic song, I can only remember those days when I felt that there was no more for me in this place, pj went trough all my bad days with me, THANKS PJ. Now days I think I'm better, found my place and enjoy life and still enjoy so so so much listening to this song.
i was only 5yrs old during this time but i still remember these time like it was yesterday! due to all the kick ass music that was coming out. And my older brother being all grunged out! haha but it rubbed of on me. and ever since i was 5 yrs old pearl jam was always one of my all time favs! and i just got to see them for the first time last year with my brother and i felt like i was 5 yrs old again standing next to my older bro watching these dudes. thats why i love PJ!
so many many night - I would sit in the dark of my room and in my own sadness. I would listen to this song with my eyes closed and imagine myself soul float up into the heavens - Release me from my darkness, Oh these lyrics, have pulled me up and out of my very own abyss.
Going off what Stubborngoat said...this is not the beginning of the concert you can clearly see this is the end. If you go to Pearl Jam's website and look up LimeLight April 12th 1992 you can see the whole set list they did. I think it is great that they have all their concert set lists on a website. This is probably my fav Pearl Jam Song ever.
im 30 years old and im waiting to have yet a band like this one in my youth history but i think im ghonna get old before that, they were and they are irrepetibles!!!
great song from "back in the day"......i've seen them open with this song it's a great opener because of the way it builds......oceans is another great opener.
i'm pretty sure this isn't the opening song, stubborngoat. if you watch the whole video it looks like it's the last song. looks like a great concert although their live show would only get better!
I saw this tour. I saw them at the Cabaret Metro in Chicago (3-28-92). The show was magical..... They were so raw... so focused... so important. Still are. I would see them again on the Alive tour in Milwaukee and at a place in Madison WI. I saw them again at the New Regal Theater (1994) and a few times again over the years (Soldier Field, Allstate Arena). Nothing can match the first time I saw them. Electric.
I was there for this show--unreal that it is on YouTube. I'm pretty sure this is the opening tune. Thought it was strange that they opened with a slow song, but then went into "Even Flow", I think. After this song is over, Eddie says to the crowd, "Are you ready?" The crowd goes nuts, and they burst into "EF."
Great times, being in your early twenties, going to a live show in NY, seeing your favorite band before they hit it big. Definitely in the right place at the right time.
@stubborngoat i think they opened with oceans but even flow was right behind it. great show though. you can notice how tired they look i think this is one of the last songs.
@captainortega Remember, at the beginning of Ten, they play that spacey bit that i guess is technically still part of Release that's longer at the end of the album. They probably played that at the beginning of the show and that's what stubborngoat was maybe thinking of.
@BandOfCrooks Relax man. It's a pretty chill song and you need to lay down the redbull or something. No one comments on YouTube to get a poke in the eye. Not even you probably so I'll leave it at "Relax..."
@stubborngoat It was, actually, very common (and still is, truth be told) for PJ to open the gig with "Release" they did it over the years, is a way to convoy attention before the music breakout.

Christ. I was supposed to go to this show but I smoked way too much pot that day and couldn't make it. Another reason why we shouldn't do drugs kids :). Pearl is a special band. i wish i saw them in their infancy!
I agree with you theeagle50 I just love Pearl Jam they are just a great band period but on my case the main reason I love this band is because of Eddie Vedder vocals I just love his voice my 10 yr old son told me that he sings like a angel we just love his voice.
In 1994 I auditioned to join a band. This song was what I sang with them to become their singer. I closed my eyes and sang my ass off. I opened my eyes as we finished the song and they were all smiling. I got the gig due to this tune.
why is it that on every old pearl jam video thers always "o daves the best, no matts the best, no jacks the best...? the fact is, regardless of whos the best, Matt is now the drummer, and theres nothing anybody on youtube can say that will change that. be happy that pearl jam is still making music... just love the music you are given
Matt Cameron sucks in Pearl Jam. He went from awesome in Soundgarden and Temple Of The Dog to suck in Pearl Jam. Dave A was the best Pearl Jam drummer.
great call about Cameron. He went from being a great jazzy prog metal drummer in SG to a shitty classic 4/4 drummer in PJ. I like Krusen's cymbal fills and Iron's swing for PJ.
I only can imagine the feeling that had been to do crowd surfing while hearing and seeing Release live. Lucky people!
I didn't met Eddie in person but I believe he's one of the most humble and kindest people alive. His gestures and posture are an amazing example to all of us.
