How do u know its a female when they are that young, Im having trouble sexing my mississippi map turtle. He or she doesnt have the big long nails or a huge tail but still quite young , only about 3 inch across. When it comes to their unerside being convex or concave is it really noticeable .

@32reptile45 i would go with a pearl river map and the other cheap turtle because pearl river maps look a lot alike the black knobbed. For the cheap turtle i recommend either a pink belly sideneck or a pink belly snapper... theyre under the section asian water turtles.

Well its called a snapper, but there are only two real snapping turtle species. Alligator and Common. THe Pink Belly Snapper is a different varient of a sideneck.
