  • I just came....

  • Is it just me, or does he look a bit rabid? I didn't know rabies made people such great keyboardists. :-P

  • I clicked on this because my name's Malayna. =D

  • straight rock?

  • wow thanks i almost forgot about this song LOVE IT

  • Now I'm in my room

    Watching the tube.........

  • fucking Billy, man...one of the best.

    \m/

    ALLLLLLLL FOR LEYYYYNA

  • Named my daughter after the song. Lena sounded boring, Leyna did it for us. She's now five and is loving the song (of course)

  • Favorite Joel song. Never hear this on the radio.

  • awesome live ver. of this song... thanks for postin... one of my fav. billy joel songs... the bootleg copy is great... no lyrics just instromental...

  • Whomever said this was a song for anyone who has " ever been loves bitch" I agree. I am a Bitch but not a " bitch" that always stinks no matter what

  • LOL at how he rises up from behind the piano!

  • Ah to live again back in the days when you knew Billy Joel was gonna put out something great every time.

  • This song has been the basis of too many of my past relationships.

  • Naming my daughter Leyna.

  • I dont think Billy Joel is all that ugly, everyone always says he is.

  • @marswmn No matter what they say he got to bang Christie Brinkley

  • @kfsfkakf Yup thats right, bet ya Christie wished she'd stayed with him now after what she got with one of her future ( ones; beau's) if I remember correctly

  • @marswmn Yea. I'm not gay but I would have stayed with Billy

  • @kfsfkakf LOL

  • @marswmn I don't think he's ugly either. And it's not too hard to see why women would be attracted to him - he has that "je ne sais quoi" about him that made him a star. I think many of those "why is she with him" comments are probably from jealous guys. lol

  • @SallieSimpson LOL I think you have got it Sallie.....................jealous men. Journeys lead singer Steve Perry was another example......................guess what .....................where I live we have a clone of him ( bible!!!!) went to the same high schol as I did. I am making a play, there will be plenty of jealous women. Never mind men. Wish me luck.

  • @marswmn Good luck:) Wait...a clone of Billy Joel or Steve Perry? lol

  • @SallieSimpson Steve Perry...........................if I ever see a Billy Joel clone ( around where I live; as I dont travel much) I will send him your way. With the Steve Perry clone all I can say is it gives new meaning to " The Girl cant help it ( when I see him) I wont say what i cant help!!!!LOL

  • @marswmn Cool, thanks:) Good luck again!

  • I love Billy Joel, I also named my Daughter Layna...I didn't like they Leyna spelling thought it would get miss pronounced too much that way.

  • She was Joanne Conti, met her at a "Parents without Partners" thing my Mother went to. boy oh boy I loved her. Where are you Joanne?

  • I wore out my copy of Glass Houses back in 1980... 'specially side one

    You May Be Right

    Sometimes A Fantasy

    Don't Ask Me Why

Still Rock and Roll To Me

    All For Leyna

    Phenomenal album!!! and side!

  • @CrunchyFrog47 OMG, me too! I loved every single song on side one. played it over and over. and one of the main reasons I took french was because I loved C'etait toi on side two so much.

  • @CrunchyFrog47 I lost mine one hot day. Left it in my car and it warped too much to work. =(...So I'm getting another. =)

  • Awesome

  • Billy ROCKS <3

  • When my mom was in high school she loved the name Leyna. So she new she would name her daughter Leyna. Haha. Thats how i got my name! :D

  • Wow. This is live!

  • I got my friend into Billy Joel, she loves this song!

  • 417 got out. 2 are still there. Get out now. 'One more time' is one time too many.

  • raw and awesome

  • It's funny because this reminds me or Roy Orbison's Leah.

Where he was doing things for a girl named Lena.

Go listen to it and you might just laugh.

  • every moment of this song is awesome...

  • this song is amazing

  • All For Leyna was written before Runaway by Bon Jovi, and in my opinion is a better song! I wonder if Bon Jovi might have gotten the idea from this song....

  • I always pretended that he just misspelled her name!

    Leenya

  • @pnutsong

    Or "Lana."

  • A nice anthem for Queen's Blade! XD

  • This song should be called, "All For Labia".

  • my daughter is named Leyna .

  • my daughter is named Leyna after this song.

  • wow! I just brought home little Leyna Vigue yesterday!

  • i named my daughter Leyna after hearing this song on my way to the hospital to have her.

  • rare for a billy joel tune to have a really good bass line.

  • 0:07 LMAO

  • Can anyone tell me if there are similar songs by him that are like this one? God damn, I listen to this song everyday almost.

  • @HyruleLand Have you tried looking at his album "Glass House"? In my opinion that whole album was great like this song.

  • @HyruleLand Pressure is a pretty good one

  • Good camera work.

  • Dude rises like the goddamn Great Pumpkin at the beginning

  • One of my ultimate faves from Billy Joel, although it's a pity it didn't make the charts in basically any country (including the US) apart from just hitting the UK charts, eventually reaching #40, but the Spanish singles chart picked it up, and from there on in, it eventually reached the Top 20 over there, peaking at #16!

  • This is a total badass song off Glass Houses...always one of personal favorites. The guy is a songwriting wizard.

  • Song fuckin ROCKS. I'm a metal head and Billy Joel rule(d)(s). Song sounds awesome, great bass lines and time signature changes etc. Would make a good hard rock song.

  • The bass line on this is AWESOME<

  • Awesome!

  • Great song. One of his best.

  • My parents named me after this song. seriously.

  • @leynabeatdown amazing! he was a great and always will be a GREAT artist!

  • @leynabeatdown That is amazing, lol. You deserve the most thumbs up on this video.

  • Haha I love the stare at the start...back when rock was fun.

  • GOOD OL' ROCK N ROLL

  • good tune

  • my friends dog is named after this song

  • I beleive that everyone has a "Leyna" in their past. Am I the only one with five. Great song Thanks for posting

  • @noticeeverything It's the converse of what you're saying - almost every woman who has had relationships has been Leyna at least once. Whether they do it more than once is all about the individual.

  • i would be very surpised if a musician today could replicate or better a live version like this one. musicians like billy joel are few and far between.

  • @sirthediceman Only his lead vocal is live. You can tell because the instruments are identical in timbre, and the backing vocals are identical to the album which never happens, especially considering those harmonies were made by multitracking Joel's single voice.

  • @agilblom nah, it's live. either that or the guitar and bass have been cranked way up in the mix.

  • @daviddet As a recording engineer I would bet the farm only the lead vocal is live.

  • @agilblom Yeah I noticed that on all the promo videos done for Glass Houses.

  • my name is alaina and people use to make me listen to this song like my grandpa those days

  • "Glass Houses" was/is a very good album! Actually, for quite a while Billy Joel released very good albums. (I'm not too fond of stuff like "Piano Man", but from 1978 to 1984 or so, he had a series of good, listenable albums that one didn't have to "skip tracks" on.)

  • Comment removed

  • @shmuli9 His last three albums were also very good!

  • One of my all-time favourites! A true male angst masterpiece!

  • This song should be dedicated to anyone who's ever been Love's Bitch! LOL!

  • Please ,Come to Japan again.

  • pretty sure i just about died laughing at billy lurking up from the piano.

  • I'm named after this song!

  • @melaynarose And you have a BEAUTIFUL name:)

  • @melaynarose so cool!

  • @melaynarose too cool!

  • @melaynarose congratulations wana cookie hahah jkjk

  • this is awesome. i thought it was going to be some cheesy music video with the studio recording dubbed over it. nope, it's live. a great version of it too, they kill it.

  • I had this song stuck in my head FOR EVER and never knew what it was called until like a month ago I LOVE THIS SONG :33 is the best piano thing EVER

  • i love this song and the stare he gives at the beginning!!

  • this was always one of my favorite Billy songs. it didn't really get the credit it deserves.

  • who the fuck could dislike this?

  • ok, who's the fucker who disliked this?

  • So good I named my daughter Leyna!!

  • Comment removed

  • The best in his prime...every else is merely looking up...

  • my friend was names after this song :)

  • i love this, his stare kicks ass!

  • great song!

    thanks for sharing!

  • last cool record for Billy the rocker, I think.

  • Billy Joel's All For Leyna reminds me of an ex girlfriend that hurt him.

  • his voice was at it's best during this period....period

  • @dwalsh93 after this record, I generally tune him out.

  • great song about love gone wrong

  • One of the finest songs nobody's ever heard! Why this was never released as a single, I'll never know.

  • @stef555stef Actually it was originally but Columbia scrapped it at the very last minute. It was however a B-side to "Sometimes A Fantasy" his last Top 40 hit from "Glass Houses." I'm sure Billy wishes he released it as an A-side single. This would've been a huge hit.

  • CLASSIC

  • GREAT BILLY GREAT.

  • susan doyle

  • Billy! Before he was a hack!

  • so I think his big eyes lookin at the camera freaks me out lol. My name is Leyna. My mom liked the song after hearing this song 30 years ago...she swears I'm not named after the girl IN the song lol

  • His voice is so crisp and powerful. Great clip!

  • this is when music videos where really about the music

  • I love this song

  • @RealVengance I thought this was about the video not your father. This song PWNS all.

  • It's a real shame he hasn't released a new album since River of Dreams in 1993.

  • Bon Jovi stole the Melody from the beginning, for Runaway...

    Listen and believe...

  • @21110112 I spot the resemblance in a way but I think Dave Bryan maybe was paying tribute to Billy when he jammed on the keyboard.

Best Billy Joel song never to be made a hit - that along w/"Cap'n Jack" & "Scenes Inside An Italian Restaurant" - all killer classics.

  • Is Leyna pronounced lee-na or lay-na?

  • @canuckclublove

    lay-na.

  • @Marixpress2

Not to be confused with "Lana" which is meant to be pronounced "lah-nah."

  • this is the first video I remember seeing on top of the pops. , Must only have been 7 or 8, Been a huge fan since Innocent Man.. Seen him twice, 1990 In Birmingham, then 2006 MEN Arena. Awesome.

  • I would sing a version of this song called All For Dana to reflect my love for actress Dana Delany.

  • hes a lot bigger in america but yeah hes the best singer/songwriter ever!

  • The guitarist all the way on the right looks like Paul Simon lol

  • @geena7 That's Russell Javors who prior to "Glass Houses" once played in a Joel-esque band called the Blend. Check out the song "The Prize." Sounds like that one song Billy should've recorded. Should be at youtube if you can pinpoint it.

  • thank you.

  • Great and way underrated song from the 1980 album Glass Houses....he has a lot of songs like these that are underrated.....hands down best singer/songwriter....probably going to go down as the best lyricist ever. His combination of words and phrases and rhyming is incredible.

  • AWESOME song,,,,,world class musicians<<<<

  • Thanks for posting this!

Didn't know there was a videoclip for this song, either!

  • He is awesome!! Such a strong and versatile voice. Great lyric writer. Just all around cool.

  • theres a VIDEO for this song :o sweet :-)

  • I was about 7 when this album came out and it was instantly a favorite. the lyrics on most of the tracks would create little 'movies' inside my head. same with The Stranger. one of the best song writers ever and under apprecciated by many. and this is one of his all-time greatest songs. fucking Billy Joel.

  • the second verse gets me every time

  • This is my favorite Billy Joel song ever. Maybe it was because my cousin would drive me in his 1971 Hemi Baracuda and jam to this song at full speed. Fuck I love my life back then.

  • funny how some songs take you back to the best times of our lives, I think that's part of why I love music so much

  • True.Peace

  • Billy Joel + Elton John = WIN!

  • i was named after this song ^_^

  • view count 55.555, AWESOME

  • Great keyboarding. the man deserves his credit! Viva Billy Joel!!!!

  • I love this song...one of my favorite Billy Joel Songs... Great colder and Straight uo feelings..great Singer..

  • classic

  • I just love the goofy way he stares at the cameraman.

  • great

  • gotta say, bj bassman doug stegmeyer's undeniably an influence...

he grooves, has great taste, fully "gets" the harmonic things happening in bj's music. love'm, wish i knew what he was up to these days.

  • @jerandai yeah a truly great bassist. unfortunately he committed suicide in 1995. =[ RIP Doug

  • the intro reminds me a bit of "Runaway" by Bon Jovi...

  • this is his best band members, and most rocking.

  • I just love that stare he gives the camera at the beginning lol

  • Kicks so much ass, and I lived this fucking story twice over...you can call me billy lol

  • kickass song..

damn billy joel looks like a fucking actor..he should have considered a career in the movies as well.there's something elegant about the way he looks..

    cheers Billy..this drink's on you!!

  • cocaine is magical.

  • Ah Billy Joel with hair! Those were the days!

  • my mom was going to name me layna but then she saw the movie shag and put me before layna and thats how she got my name and i love this song soooo much!!!(so does my mom lol

  • AWESOME

  • love is song =D

  • Billy Joel is always brilliant but this period saw his best work. Top marks Billy!

  • awesome!

  • my dad named me after this awesome song

    woo

    xxx

  • that guy is a beast and if you were born in the in the 80's you owe your life to this

  • yeah...born in the early or late 70s..you still owe your life to Billy..kickass tunes..amazing songwriter..

  • In several of his videos, I see Jeff Porcaro on drums- probably the most sought after drummer(also of Toto fame back in the day before his untimely death). I believe he and other members of Toto( who started out as session musicians) played with just about every top act from that era. Great stuff!

  • fuck yeah jeff ruled!!!!, ppl may think tot suck but he did there best songs!

  • he was lib de vitto

  • I don't think that is Jeff Porcaro.....I could be wrong. I think it's his longtime drummer, Liberty Devitto who bares a resemblance to Jeff Porcaro. You can tell also by how he (Liberty) holds his sticks. Porcaro never seemed to "choke up" on the sticks (1:58) which is another sign. Porcaro also seemed to play more sophisticated grooves (less "four on the floor playing") as in "Rosanna" (w/Toto) and his Steely Dan work on their album "Gaucho".

  • this is none other than liberty devitto, not quite as "deep" as porcaro, but definitely way way WAY up top of the list of songwriter's drummers.

  • @BHSR61 Billy's longtime drummer was (& still is) Liberty DeVito not Jeff Porcaro (RIP) although the two look somewhat alike one another.

Good to hear classic rock stations back to playing Billy's timeless rock classics that they once snubbed somewhen in the 90s.

  • I like Billy Joel Songs, for the most part (Hated that Christie Brinkley period, Uptown Girl? What the Hell was up with that?!) But this song is probably my favorite (with My Life running a close second)

  • Another awesome song of his... as always, he writes the shit we can all relate to! Not too many songwriters can really nail the gamut of emotions that we experience... he's unbelievable... :)

  • Woke up this morning early....and for some reason this song popped into my head and here it is! Remember being in 7th grade and singing this song but substituting the name w/my 7th grade crush "Anna" ....Wow....still sounds great...tnx.
