  • does the stripper make the metal rough? Or does it stay smooth?

    Thanks

  • would it be bad to get this on a tire?

  • polished slips ftw

  • Thank you so much this is the exact vid i needed to find i just bought some black slips i want to do this to!!!

  • was that the original powdercoat color?

  • @ignitionej yeah they will i used this on my RSX that i had that were painted gold, just take your time and dont rush

  • was it just wipe the paint off or did you have to sand it as well to get the results at the end?

  • @reggiesd the end picture is after a few days of wet sanding and polishing them. When you strip the paint, its just going to be a raw machined finish.

  • Where the hell can i find or get this shipped me in the UK!?!??!

  • i go to advanced auto parts or auto zone

  • i go to advanced outo parts or auto zone

  • i use that stuff but i use the sprayone its better and faster. i love dat beat

  • @MrSadiel its hard for me the find the spray now. Walmart stopped selling it here.

  • @Jdmdecals home depot ftw

  • By the way...will this s#¡t work on a set of stock gsr blades? They've been painted red...then a coat of black over that by a previous owner.

    Thanks for the help!

  • Heh JdMDecaLs.....i got a question. Do I have to take the tire off the rim for this process cuz I really dont feel like go'n through the trouble? LmFaO!!!

  • Would that mess up alloy wheels? I paint my stock white but I want to go back to the stock color.. Can anyone please help!

  • @dcr200723 You'll need to do the process very slow. Dont let it sit on to long. Keep a eye on it. Once the paint starts to lift on spots, wash it off. and do it in small sequences. If it sits too long on bare metal, it will stain the wheel and then you'll have to wetsand the wheels to bring the shine back. It turns it a milky color.

  • Thumbs up for JDMdecals :)

  • I NEED HELP!! It stained my rim and nothing came off : ( help me

  • @josh666675 What happened? You used this stuff and it didnt take off the paint?

  • @Jdmdecals Yeah thanks for the quick reply but I'm thinking it did this because it is only 35 here and i only have a hair dryer so not going to work. But what about 59-60 degree weather or no?

  • @josh666675 heat is your friend. If you can somehow control the room temperature you'll do fine. My buddy has a crappy oven he got off craigslist and he keeps it in his shop to heat up parts and then spray the clean strip on it. works great.... Try using a heater to heat the rim.. then spray on and use a heat tun to heat up the clean strip. DONT BREATH THIS STUFF!!!!!!!!!

  • @Jdmdecals I know it's deadly stuff also i need a wire brush i let it sit over night and most is able to come off all i need to do to get it off is a wire brush which i don't have..

  • @josh666675 You did something wrong then. Make sure its warm outside. and teh wheel actually has been sitting in the sun for a good amount of time before putting on the stripper. I put mine on when it was about 85 outside. The more heat the better it works.

  • @Jdmdecals Nah, The stripper is shit.... I used it out in 80 degree weather and was hotter then shit and also i just think it was a bad batch, Wheel sat for out in sun for like 10 hours.. I should contact the company to get my money back but there is no 1800 number or a site for mar hyde..

  • @josh666675 yeah man, if it didn't work id take it back to the store and let them know that you got a bad can. maybe it wasn't fresh. i know i had some of this stuff from about 2 years ago and it lost all of its chemical factors. Maybe next time you try find a old valve cover or something else to put it on when you do your wheels so you can see a controlled object to see if its the stripper or the wheels.

  • @Jdmdecals Yeah the people at the store is a asshole so im just going to have to eat 20 bucks i could of really had... It's used and they would bitch even though saying you used it you can't return in blah blah and crap..

  • Can u use it wen the tire is still on the rim?? will it damage the tire??

  • @springbrook05 Try to tape off the sidewalls of the tires so you can prevent as much as possible from hitting the tire. but.. ive seen people not even do that. Just keep a eye on it.. dont walk away and leave them Keep checking on the tires to make sure its not eating the tires. keep a hose ready.

  • @yangster84 I'm not sure either. but im sure you can strip them and polish them.

  • great vid man, but quick question, would this work on regular alloy rims? or will it still need to be sandpapered? (reason i ask is because i want to paint my rims, but i wanna completely get rid of the old color it had)

  • @alandlafuente It should work on all types of wheels. the newer wheels with fresher paint comes off faster. The wheels that have been around for 20 years takes time.

  • Haha after the stripper was done I'd probably go straight for the pressure washer. Just saying :)

  • Okay, question about the end result. When the paint comes off the wheel, how does the metal look and did you have to do any special polishing to achieve the end result?

  • @Avantgarde2 Thats bad for the environment bro. Pluss the water would re-activate the paint stripper and would get everywhere. Best was to let it dry.. and suck it up. Then wash off in some gravel. (not in grass, it will kill your yard)

  • How do you get the stripper all the way off for paint?

  • Great Vid ! - I have a set of white gloss alloys wheels, and the paint / powder coat if chipping & peeling off, would this stuff get the rest off with out shot blasting it....

    Thansk

    Andy

  • @fatfortuna Im not sure.. but i think for the little money its worth a shot.

  • @fatfortuna Dude, this stuff he just put on there, gets paint off of anything.lol. You can buy cheaper stuff at home depot that does the same thing but doesnt cost too much just because it's made for an aircraft lol. Whatever you do though, DONT get it on your skin because it burns like a son-of-a-bitch.

  • where can you buy this i whent to home depot and i bought something similar but it wasnt aircraft paint remover, but it takes so long to come off and i have to scrape it hard with a metal spatula...

  • @luisvizi You got to get it the same place you buy car paint materials... here in Oregon its Called Industrial Finishes... However.. im sure thats only a oregon chain.

  • @luisvizi You just didnt put enough thats all.

  • good work mate bought me a set of 17'' inch wheels the other day but someone painted tem white but i want them back to there original silver so gonna get some paint remover on them soon that aircraft paint remover looks to be powerful stuff !

  • @mccumiskey87 its very powerful. it has a warning saying it can cause cancer :)

  • @Jdmdecals what if your rim in mounted on a tire will I have to mask the tire off or will it eat it

  • will this romove the base coat as well?

  • @jaytabz it did for me.

  • that stuff is stinky but works awsome i used two cans but it all depends on how big ur wheel is and how much u use

  • @sk8terboi18100 The can says something about cancer.. Im not surprised :) its rank!

  • @trinbalforrealz

i have i also paint stripped my hx's and i have the same problem

  • Is that chrome underneith or raw metal please?

  • @whereswally1996 no just raw aluminum.

  • I love this great video, very helpfull, does anyone know the name of this song?

  • @JDMBULLET6 My buddy made it. Never finished it... i added the link in the description.

  • I tried thos on some honda oem hx wheels and the primer on the bottom is very hard to get out even with stripper suggestions?

  • @tribalforrealz i used this stuff to strip the clear off of some 99-00 si wheels. they where peeling so this removed the clear perfectly.... I honestly have no idea on hx wheels.

  • My boy did it to his and it didnt turn out polish. that shit turned out looking like the color of the sidewalk concrete. LOL i know that shit sucks. But would you by any chance know what might have happened in the process?

  • @ShiftNob Im not sure. My buddy recently stripped his "spun" wheels and found that they had repair marks from the factory :) ahahah.. keep in mind, when factory sells you painted wheels they dont intend on you looking under the paint. You might find spots where they have been damaged / repaired / repainted/ then sold :) if you dont want to deal with that stuff.. buy CCW's :)

  • if i buy the big can, will 1 quart or 1 gallon get rid of the paint on 4 rims?

  • @RedlineXD If you use a paint brush 1 quart SHOULD work.

  • @Jdmdecals lol i did the aircraft remover, and i burned parts of my arm and hand and this stuff can go through rubber gloves man! and my clear coat is completely destroyed.

  • @RedlineXD Someone spraypainted a engine bay on a car i bought. This stuff stripped off all the spraypaint... i only let it sit for 30 seconds.. before it could eat into the under clear coat.

  • Dude you are my savior its so easy thanks!!!!! Phans One

  • YOur welcome.

  • How long did you leave the stripper on the rims. I left it on a set of p-slots for an hour and still had the paint on

  • How long did you leave the stripper on the rims. I left it on a set of p-slots for an hour and still had the paint on

  • u made this LOOK so easy.....i did my GT3 and it didnt come as easy as ur did....i kno i may did something wrong but damn....i just wanna give up....

  • i like da original song u had!

  • hey.. i just need to know.. what do u put on tha aluminum after u stripped tha paint/primer? wax? just need to know cuz i wannah keep that fresh aluminum look without having to repaint

  • so these are pretty much the fully polished slips now

  • does the paint stripper you use peel off the original paint on the rim? i have black rota track r's and the last guy who had them painted over the black with gold. if i used the paint stripper you used, will it take both the gold and black paint off?

  • can you use paint thinner

  • dope upload!

  • that stuff really works on PAINT

  • does this just strip off the paint. because i have rims i bought that someone painted but didn't prep and id like to get down to the alloy without making it really dull. would this work?

  • timelapse is the shit

  • Hmm i wonder if i should use this on my engine bay when i respray it.

  • hey, do u think the aircraft spraycan work as that one...

  • it does.. but you will go through about 3 cans per wheel. gets spendy.

  • @Jdmdecals Awesome vid, I just blew through 2 cans 4 wheels and I need at least 3-4 more cans... wheels were painted over stock Rota paint... so there's a lot to strip... needless to say I am going to get the gallon and paint it on, much better control and much safer because of the absence of particulate (acid) in the air to breathe in... Thanks for posting this.

  • I just want to clarify this myself. So I do not need to take my tires off to do this right?

  • nope, just don't get the stripper on the tires.

  • could u do this without taking out the tires?

  • yes

  • DRFTBling711 want a cookie???

  • turboef89...got douche?

  • @DRFTBling711 fuck you brandon

  • lol

  • awesome, im stripping my slipstreams as soon as the weather gets nicer, as for now i got hx wheels on my EG -_-

  • Very helpful
