@TheRealErob if you don;t see the point I think it's not something for you, but it could be interesting for example with a distortion to give that a whole other sound..
@TheRealErob some people just like the sound of the crybaby or wah held at the halfway position or wherever, Frank Zappa used it that way a fair bit, just personal taste.
@TheRealErob Hendrix used it a lot with his octavia and fuzz face to get those really high pitch notes... except he just used a normal wah. You can get a lot of interesting harmonics happening if you place it in the right spot in the chain.
Plus I think originally that's what wahs were intended for, a foot pedal 'tone' control for keyboard players.
Soooo wish they weren't sold out right now! This a hard build? I did the 250+ and the ESV fuzz in about 2 hours each, (granted easy builds). The overdrive 2 was a little off, still something wrong there...
I think it's important that when you demo an Envelope Filter, you should play the type of music that it was built for. THe playing was pretty amateur.
Is this the same enclosure that comes from BYOC now? This looks like one of those smaller Hammond 1590's. I'd be interested if I can put it in the 1590 enclosure.
It's the exact same circuit... could be that you're using hotter pickups than this guy or maybe he has a cleaner op-amp in his pedal. Same circuit though.

I think the MXR Auto Q is much better... I use it all the time and it has a much more authentic wah sound, aside from the cheap plastic nasally sound of an envelope filter. Plus, you get the vibrato shimmer effect.. and just by messing with the Range and Q knobs, you can offset them and get fixed wah settings... Much more versatile, 6 knobs plus a 3 band EQ path. What more could you want??
In envelope filter is like a wah wah pedal, but instead of controlling the sweep of the freq with a rocker pedal, you control it with the attack of you pick. The harder you pick the greater the sweep.
Robin Trower uses a fixed wah, i wonder if this unit can get close to his sounds..

i never understood the point of having a fixed wah sound. is there an advantage to that sound?

Where do you buy the kit ? Or does it already come assembled? I'd love to get my hands on this for my bass.

I like how this one doesnt distort when you strike hard.
My EF440 from general guitar gadgets distorts too much, and the wah in itself raises the volume too much.
But this one is a far superior design it seems

Well that's good to know. Thanks for that information. It gives me inspiration to look at the insides of that thing. I just gave up too easy.....
