  • olen seitsemantoista vuotias

  • I just want to thank you, Sulkasiipi, for teaching people proper, nice Finnish expressions and words :D. I'm fed up with those trying to teach foreigners only swearwords. What's so special about the dirty words? The Finnish ones ain't special at all :O!!

  • Katso kaikki Suomen Opin Google kääntää. XD

  • I live in Sweden, but my grandmother came to sweden during the war, from finland. I just saw a movie about children coming to sweden from finland during the war, that made me interested in finnish haha :P its so hard, just alot of auiöloäoouieiiaii x)

  • I JUST LOVE YOUR "ÖÖÖÖÖÖ" !!! :)

  • Really wanna move to Finland so knowing the language would be helpful.but it'd be great if you could add the "sounds like" back into the description

  • I am absorbing this language and using it at work. Where I moved to has a populous of Finn's...they are suprised to here me converse with them as I am Chilean

  • Ä and Ö is pronounced just like Æ and Ø (Norwegian) Awesome!

  • ÖÖÖ XDDDD

  • your cute and your videoa help so much

  • TRYTRYTRYTRYYYYY...

    Larn Finnisz with Sulkasiipi!!!!

    MyGósz!

  • @evaldoluizm Yeaa!!

  • for spanish people the vocals are easier than the english, i cannont many problems talking basic words =) / para los de habla hispana es mas sencillo pronunciar las vocales que para los anglos, no tengo demasiados problemas hablando palabras simples, aun cuando mi inglés apesta =D

  • @alborock066

Right, but spanish and italian aren't used with so many consonants together.

(I'm really sad, 'cause I got to know taht 80% of english words are derivated from Latin)

Consonants make the world better... XD

Even though you are used to vowels variations, I doubt you pronounce easily the Polish, Swedish ones, (and how about the Russian ы?).

I'm just telling you this because I don't want you to get cocky just because you speak Spanish!

    Spanish sucks BTW! [jealeousface]

  • @evaldoluizm And what about Polish ? Also sucks ?

  • @mark1991ization

Irony was not deteced... Now I look like an idiot...

Sorry if I offended you... I know Spanish is hard!

Sometimes, I really dislike this witty mood of mine...

Sorry, once again... (You should have paid attention to the [jealeousface])

  • @evaldoluizm That's ok :D relax :)

  • @evaldoluizm i told MY english sucks, if u dont know spanish, try to don´t comment

  • @alborock066 I guess you haven't noticed the **[jealousface]**

I DO NOT really think Spanish sucks, that was a "non-properly" done irony...

I am really sorry for making you misunderstand all that...

  • @evaldoluizm its ok dude ;), it was just a matter of languaje =)

  • Aaaah thank you for putting these video's up! I'm going to Finland soon and only found things in writing, until now ;)

  • Охуеть бля, язык сложный, но мне нравится. И девушка супер!

  • Thanks very much for the videos. And you're funny! ;)

  • These videos are so cute, lol.

  • Finnish is easy :)

  • Finnish grammar is very, very hard for English speakers to learn. The words are easy. It is putting together sentences and making sense that is hard. :)

  • Is finnish harder to learn than English??

  • @WestonGale

i dont know, but i think .. no.

    it sounds easy ;D

  • @WestonGale yep

  • kiitos!

  • Ei juma ku hajosin tolle alotukselle xD xD

  • Hajos :D Anteeksi >-<

  • I have cousins from Finland so I'm trying to learn Finnish so I can speak to them in their own language :D

  • Kylla~

  • there is american river that has finnish name, which is Misissipi :-)

    Finnish sounds like Japanese

and I don't need to drink to much Finlandia to have problem which one is finnish

but it's nice and funny language!

  • I speak Swedish, Finnish very well, I can also understand most Norwegian and of course English which most people speak nowadays.

  • Kiitoksia sinulle, saadaan lisää ulkomaalaisia suomeen.

  • @Sonniguy Mitä ne ulkomaalaiset haittaa, jos ne painaa duunia samalla tavalla kuin kaikki suomalaiset.

  • @gongels94 Hah, millo ne o duunia tehny? Ei koskaa, ja jos tekevätkin niin pomon persettä nuolevat.

  • @Sonniguy Ainaki noi ählämit painaa perse ruvessa hommia, sanoin kinkit. ( Ei koske manneja)

  • cool!

  • Finnish is so beautiful. *_* I live in Sweden and I love our neighbor country Finland. As soon as I'm done with school, I want to move there. But I got to learn some finnish first I guess. x3

  • olen vuotias, selvä

  • I'm learning Finnish from a 14 year old! YEAH!

  • thanks for all your help Sulkasiipi! I couldn't of learned as much as i know without you!

  • thx thx sulkasiipi :D :D im from mexico and is really a beautiful languague the finnish :D :D

  • I lived in Finland for 5 years and don't speak a word of Finnish. Stupid of me not to learn...but this helped, so thanks :)

  • whats the difference between the 2 dots on the top with a capital 'A' and a small 'a'?

  • @SkaterlifeTV it's the same letter. Ä/ä

  • i live in = MINÄ ASUN not just ASUN

  • @Riversmeet88 This would be a straight word-for-word translation. However just "asun" is completely proper (and even preferable) usage of the Finnish language expressing the same information.

  • @Riversmeet88 The subject isn't mandatory in Finnish. The subject can be seen from the congruence.

  • i noticed my favorite thing and favorite color both start with *Lempi" but when saying "my favorite thing" you have to point yourself out and with your favorite color you don't have to say you're talking about yourself. can you please explain why?

  • @corysboredagain

My = minun, favourite = lempi, thing = asia

And when you say "my favourite thing is.." it's: "Minun lempi asiani on.."

Did you notice "-ni" in the end of "asia"?

"-ni" tells that you are talking about yourself.

So: thing = asia, my thing = asiani

And: color = väri, my color = värini

    Hope that helped.

  • @Konosiv this was very helpful thank you!

  • @Konosiv That helped! Ty

  • @corysboredagain As Konisov explained the information is already coded in the ending of the substantive - so "minun" (mine) is superfluous. You can say in both cases just "lempiasiani" and "lempivärini" or "minun lempiasiani" and "minun lempivärini". Actually usage of this excess "minun" can be considered as poor use of language but due to foreign (English) influence is used more and more in the contemporary speak. Note also that "lempi asiani" is wrong - you must use a compound word here.

  • I love how you use the Ä and the Ö, we germans don't use it as often as finnish people. I actually love finnish it sounds so sweet but I am afraid it could be very hard to learn ..

  • Asun Brazil, Kiitos paljon

  • ÖÖÖÖÖ !!!!!!!

  • @thrashandoverdrive haha i have a finnish friend on skype and he told me my first finnish word. it was perkele. i asked "so.. what does it mean?" "it means fuck." me:"o.O"

    Finnish ftw ;)

  • I wanna learn Finnish, so that when I meet the dudesons I can tell them how sexy they are!!

  • ÖÖÖÖÖÖÖ!!

Ä and Ö are also in German

  • I wanna learn Finnish, I imagine it's a bit easier for a Norwegian (like me :P) than, say, an American or Brite. But it's still hard, it's so fast! If you took it a little slower, like step-by-step, then I guess it'd be easier. You know, when you translate phrases from English to Finnish, maybe you should take it one syllable at a time. :)

  • mä oon kans iha vaa suomest mut on kiinnostavaa kattoo mitä muut sanoo tästä videosta. ja älä nyt sit suutu täst mut must oli tosi hauskaa miten sanoit 'ö'. XD mut iha mahtava video!

  • Ö and Ä sounds easy to me.. btw, Ä sounds like the portuguese A

  • i love your voice then you learn the ppl from england Ä and ÖÖÖÖÖÖÖÖ! xD

  • hajos

  • are you ACTUALLY 14...?

    that is impressive!!!

  • I love the way Finnish words are stressed, with the stress often on the third or fourth last syllables (that's how it sounds to me), with long vowels and double/'stopping' consonants.. I enjoy listening to rally pacenotes in Finnish sooo much! :D

  • Girl, you're doing a fantastic job =) It's pretty easy to learn those sentences with your videos. Also I like your accent. Pretty cool! Finnish and english are the best languages on the world :D

  • Mon langue a aussi de vowels que finnis.

  • Pffff. Hahah!

  • I love this language, but it´s so difficult! :(

  • @Moddelinchen thats not difficult well... i living in finland

  • Finnish is the only language with more vowels than consonants in normal speech. It's melodic, vowel-rich words give in an undeniably exotic and beautiful sound.

  • Italian and Hungarian have also a LOT vowels :) listen to it:)

  • I'm learning, i'm learning very well :U THANK YOU!

  • kiitos

olen italialainen, puhun italiaa ja englantia.

For us the rules are so difficult but pronunciation is plain, easy.

    (I know numbers, too).

    Hyvää Huomenta.

  • haha.. öö.. ÖÖ!

    vähän läppä XD

  • This language is insane.

Pretty impossible to learn it, 'xept if you have 10 years of your life to loose.

  • is it REALLY THAT hard????? french is a million times harder imo

  • Nope, Finnish is the most difficult european language to learn.

  • Ok; Maybe -- but you read the letters just like they are written there. And This is the part i like

  • Well, I wish you the best to learn it. ;)

  • Thank you :D ;; the grammar is very similar to russian, maybe exactly the same thing = so i know the grammmar and how to reeeeead; allready. So I should learn just words and nothing else. (i hope it is as easy as i think :'(

  • You make me hope as I'm going to learn Russian next year in school. Maybe this will help me with my Finnish ;)

  • Yea of corse, it will be easier for u like this! Yea! Why do you have to learn russian? do u like that language?

  • I don't know if I like it or not. I'm about to find that out ;) I chose it because there was the choice between maths, psychology and Russian so for a language-lover like me it was easy to decide ^.^

  • Haha, yea! Russian's the best u can choose then! I'd recommend it also! A language-lover, huh? How many languages do u speak? Me only 3 and a half, and a little bit of some more.

  • I agree with you man! Even Russian is esier to learn. Finnish is so difficult to write and to prenounce properly

  • no way...or maybe for you. the most difficult is Icelandic.

  • We finnish people must be very intelligent then to learn such a difficult language, vai mitä?

  • I find it very strange that people say a certain language is the most difficult to learn. To me as a German Dutch wouldn't be difficult, but for a Chinese? Same with Finnish. For us it is hard but for someone from Estonia it must be kind of easy. And furthermore it of course depends on the talent one has. And if you say finnish has so mane grammatical cases, the consonant gradation then you must also say that estonian is harder. But from my point of view every language has difficult ingredients.

  • And it depends on how you look at it. A brief example: German's got only 4 cases, Finnish 15 (of which 3 aren't productive anymore and only exist in old idioms (for example silloin tavoin)). So, on the surface it seems Finnish is - in this case - much more difficult. BUT: Have you ever looked at the cases? Here comes my example:

  • "The human" in all 4 cases of the German - singular and plural: Der Mensch - Die Menschen Des Menschen - Der Menschen Dem Menschen - Den Menschen Den Menschen - DIe Menschen Now just some cases of the finnish: Ihminen - Ihmiset Ihmisen - Ihmisten Ihmistä - Ihmisiä Ihmisestä Ihmisistä Ihmiseltä - Ihmisiltä You see? Just from the word itself you can't see the case in German. That's what I would call kinda hard. ;) Some are even identical, like Accusative Singular and Dative Plural.
  • that's not really true... if you are able to speak german properly to understand another native german you won't mix up the cases if words are identically... because the sentence makes it clear... you will never have one word and have to choose which case it is in normal way of speaking... it's just a random example which is not really true at all...

but I am a native german so maybe it's totally different for foreign speakers.... i don't know

  • Ok, my example may have been a bit confusing. What I wanted to point out was what in the finnish language the cases are pretty easy. You use the genitive as the fundament and put the case you need at the end and for one case there's only one ending (except Partitive a/ta and Genitive and Partitive Plural), in German you have for example the Genitive and like at least 7 possible endings.

  • And, ok, the Illative has more than one ending but a very clear rule for it.

  • That is one thing I find very stupid about german. The cases, I find them unuseful to complicate a language like that.

  • LoL mitä toi on?

  • actually no one talks in here finland like that

  • no way?? really? why?

  • haha omg this girl is the cutest thing ever! Her voice is soooo sweet!

  • Well im just telling you im 14 years old and have learn finnish 3 hours a week in 4 years but i cant even say; "im on my way to finland", and i've LIVED in finland my entire life :p i think i've heard there's 370 or 530 rules in finnish and there's atleast 1 exeption in every single rule. So feel sorry for me that have to learn finnish 3 hours a week

  • asun a hole :D
