  • not sure if fat guy isnt trollin

  • you gringos do not know what capoeira is about, it's not a martial art, it's a way of joy.

hollywood has made a total mess about it's image. that's what U.S. does, messes whererver they show their faces.

  • random fat guy lol. he may have been decent at one point. but he's outa shape now... man watching this stuff makes me jealous. I'm all for TKD. what i do. but this is just soo... graceful.

  • this stuff...it's amazing

  • Is Capoeira

    Isn´t Capoiera

  • o meu camarada ta ak irsrsrs no primeiro jogo pantro! alforria brasil!

  • o meu camarada ta ak irsrsrs no primeiro jogo pantro!

  • eso capoiera! pfffff

  • lmao at the fat guy

  • @antrop16 man that comment was made 2 years ago..2 YEARS AGO!!!! what did you read all the comments? get a life dude

  • Capoiera is called the "dance of war" so yeah, it can be used for fighting. I guarantee these dudes can kick some serious butt with all those beast moves they know! (except maybe not that fat guy at the end...he wasn't too skilled at it--but still, who am I to say that haha I can't do any of this stuff) but mainly it's def more than a dance.

  • dude, what's up with the fat guy?

  • @antrop16 well said

  • the way capoeira is used now its a dance its a nice dance you can tell its a good dance

  • Fuck u all! with u think capoeira is only a dance, i want see u go to fight with someone of those guys, capoeira can be dance and fight. But on a real fight a capoeirista stop dance and only fight. Before tell something first study about it.

  • @gabrielggripp its actually durived from an african dance so who ever says that they are dancing are right

  • @rippabomb

That's because majority of Brasilians are Africans decent just like any other Latino nations like Haitian Rep., Dominican Rep., Venezuela, Cuba, Colombia....and the list keeps on going.

  • @jeffmattdel yeah but not to many people would agree to that

  • @rippabomb

why is that? What? They can't face the facts?

  • @jeffmattdel yeah they cant they just think that black people can't do anything well i say yeah we can

  • @rippabomb thats kind of right, capoeira is disguised as a dance so that african american slaves could practise martial arts in the open, that was until it was banned. it is actually an extremely effective martial art and for all those who say its just a dance or its ineffective, research before you talk about something u dont know about cause otherwise you will probably end up talkin shit

  • @jackslasho i know about capoiera i just tellin people who don't know that africans do it.

  • @rippabomb

off-topic: noticed that myosource isn't putting up any more self defense vids? I made that happen. I even caused them to shut down their show-me-defense website just by explaining to people how shait they really are and why.

  • @jackslasho

on itself it is not the most effective of martial arts. to be effective you need full contact sparring. I don't know of any capoeira practitioners that spar full contact.

  • @Micahel213 no to be affective you need to have self defense or close quarters combat thats what it is

  • @rippabomb It is a horribly ineffective martial art. They don't do anything to strengthen their bodies for the rigor of full contact fights. If you want effective kicks without all the flashy bs, learn TKD, then do some karate or kickboxing (full contact with head punching allowed) and learn a grappling art like jiu jitsu. Otherwise you are left with an incomplete knowledge of fighting, and less than adequate experience at full contact fights.

  • @terdburgalor haha your right and wrong haha you mean experienced in full contact fighing against people who can fight right because i don't need all that bull to fight in the streets

  • @rippabomb You want experience against people that can fight. You need to learn grappling to fight off the fatties that just tackle and pummel you and striking for the guys that try to pick up random crap to hit you with.

  • @terdburgalor you forget that Brazil made BJJ and have incorporated it into Capoiera.

  • are kidding capoeiristas are incredibly strong. we have to be to support our own body weight all the time. and as for its efectivness. i have used it many times in TKD class against black belts very effectively. its not the style its the practioner

  • there are schools that teach full contact. alot of them in salvador brazil. but i have used it effectively in TKD sparring against black belts

  • @chross1984

I would find it most interesting to see a sparring match between two dedicated and martial artists. One a TKD the other Capoeira (yourself?). Maybe you have a vid or can make one?

  • unfortunately i dont have a video. i will try to make one. but i have been focusing more on teaching my capoeira class and haven't gone to TKD for a while. but check out 20 second capoeira knockout video

  • Can anyone actually use this for combat. I seriously doubt it.

  • Actually u have to give it a little modification if u wanna use it in a real fight since its disguised as a dance.

  • i could imagine you could use some skills learned from this to kick some serious ass lol

  • When I was a teenager a friend of mine got involved into a "street fight". He fought alone against 6 guys and had to be sent to the hospital, but his capoeira helped him to avoid some broken bones, and he defeated some of the folks who had surrounded him in that ocasion.

Also, there's one video on YouTube where one guy killed the other during a capoeira fight:

    watch?v=E1CRuWusKoE

  • since capoeira is at brazil simply mix with bjj and damn wthat a crazy mix that would be.. they'll simply wanna close the distance then bam ground them lol

  • reminds me of my fav movie only the strong w/ mark decascos

  • capoeira is just a dance.

  • You try and fight with one.

And you'll see a foot dancing to your face.

  • I dance Capoeira, so whats with the hate? I was just sharing some info. impossible to fight using capoeira and win. go ahead search for a real fight where someone is using capoeira, by the way movies and video games don't count.

  • Well, in my case there's no hate at all, I just don't really think that capoeira can't really be effective as a martial art, specially because I know of many cases where it has been successfully applied. For instance, my mother accidentaly K.O.ed her boyfriend when she was still a teenager.

And the best definition for capoeira is that it's a brazilian cultural expression, since it's a combination of various elements: martial art, dance, music, some theatrical/tricky moves and gestures et cetera.

  • That video shows Marcos Ludugério (the no-shirt guy) being hit by a kick on the belly by Adenísio Arteles. Marcos suffered a cardiac stop due to rupture and hemorragy of the spleen. He died few minutes later. Adenísio is in jail.

Of course you can compare and question the effectiveness of capoeira if compared to some other martial arts, but it doesn't mean that it can't be harmful and applied for self-defense. You should come to Brazil and "dance" with some capoeiristas in Itacaré (Bahia).

  • lmao tell him

  • WHAT?! Capoeira is more than just a dance.

  • Yeah... it's just a dance...

Go dance with Marcus Aurelio, then:

    watch?v=l6oiADjOdFg

Anyway: I'm glad to see how so many people still don't take Capoeira seriously, since that's what its "dancing" moves were made for.

  • will do. i will just walk into him. ruin his momentum. i bet it would be a blast. i bet he could still do moves while being held on too. ( B,

  • oh ya btw i have nvr seen marcus do capoeira while in the ring fighting.

  • looks like a fun martial art to kick some bully's asses in my high school :D

  • What are you saying

  • awesome capoeira hmm isnt the MORtaL THE LITTLE BUTTERFLY KICK?

  • break dance: fight version

  • Cool floreios, but where is the game? Where is the jogo and malicia?

  • there is a game called rumble fighter and the game has a fighter style called capoiera. it is really like this looks exactly the same

  • That's like the 3rd or 4th video in that it's written "capoiera". It's "capoeira" the correct.

  • Woah this is pretty badass.

  • STRONG PEOPLE!!

  • Oh man, i just saw a Jap completely own a Brazilian guy doing capoiera on elite xc.

  • Those guys were good.

  • Guys, lets stop all the martial arts comparism and discrimination. I believe that every martial art has its own strength, culture and history behind it. What makes a fighter is how they fuse what they learnt and use it. Isn't it weird if a judo-ist just tossing opponent around without punching? Same to capoeira, isn't it weird to fight a handicap match without punches? I'm sure capoeira does strengthen his reflex, kicks and many others which contribute largely to his combat skills. Peace people!

  • wrong! these guys only kick the air so they will not build any power to there kicks. great acrobatic, yes! but look at the spinning-wheel-kick (for excample), done like that will injure the knee by hitting something stronger. what we see here is an awsome dance-system, but a weak fight-system.

  • oh my gosh...you've got to be kidding me.

just because something doesn't look like it will hurt doesn't mean anything until it hits you. and also, the philosophy behind capoeira teaches about street survival, and on top of that, capoeira did very well in brazilian VT matches and in Brazilian gang wars.

  • Well put! Like I've said dozens of times, Capoeira has a long history of being used in street fights by urban gangs. If Mestre Bimba was alive & in his prime, he would fucking kick ass in MMA.

  • Then how is that possible that Capoeiristas do excellent in MMA and never injured their knees during Meia Luas? You dont know Capoeira, it was only a few part of that witch I like the least. You should watch Capoeira MMA and the Batizado Em Brasilia videos, to see real ancient Capoeira.

  • Way to go fat guy LOL! BTW the guy with the dread locks looks bad ass!!

  • Nice video! This group is very smooth.

  • you know with all the talk of fighting i wonder...whats more beneficial? doing nothing but fighting your whole life or doing more than that? by the time a mma is through their body is so damaged what do they do? capoeiristas practice well into their 70s+

  • helio gracie (founder of brazilian jiu jitsu) is in his 90s and still spars with his sons

  • I GOT THIS VIDEO and watch this snake master peter wong kick ass with his monkey style kung fu in my video just click my name. also see my capoiera brazilian fighter too. :)

  • fat guy had 2 ruin it...

  • say the couch warrior

  • @cheyslrdmc lololololololol

  • Fuckin lol

  • it looks like break dancing took alot from capoera. and i have seen videos of capoera practitioners using their mobility and agility to get some pretty good takedowns and submissions, albeit that is probably from crosstraining with BJJ.

  • capo is always fun to watch.

  • Actually, the agility, speed and flexibility you gain learning it would work in about ANY situation.

Yes, by itself Capoeira would probably just get you killed in a riot. But as I'm sure many people have said, mix it up with other martial arts and you can end up pretty much unstoppable. Be creative. Use your Cap to spin and wriggle out of being caught, keep the flow, dodge and weave, then destroy your enemies with something tough and brutal. Muay Thai makes a good mixer, as does tai chi.

  • Muay Thai- yes. Tai Chi- only if you think you are going harness the force (qi) to beat your opponent.

  • Uh, no. Tai Chi can end a fight in one hit without any floaty spiritual crap. Ever heard of "striking at weak points"? Now that I stop to think about it Bagua would probably be ever better for that, but Tai Chi can actually be useful in a real fight. A good palm thrust to the brain stem and whoever you're fighting ain't gonna be getting back up. Ever, if you do it right.

  • Call me a skeptic, but I would have to see a palm thrust cause actual damage before I could believe in it. The Taijiquan I have studied (admittedly limited) focuses on the meditation aspects as opposed to self-defenese. And I believe practitioners generally do not focus on striking. Therefore it would be impractical in a fight.

It is conceivable I could use a palm thrust to hurt my grandfather when he is sleeping in his wheelchair, but then he'd pull out his irish club and whip my ass.

  • *shrugs* Suit yourself, I can't be much bothered debating anymore.

Palm thrusts actually tend to be more useful when punches when used on bony areas. One wrong punch and you've permanantly fucked your hand. Screw a palm thrust and you've screwed your wrist or bent a finger at worst.

Smack yourself with the heel of your hand to the temple. Doesn't feel nice, does it? Now imagine that ten times harder and faster in a fight. Punching a wall hard can break your knuckles. Palm thrusts? No.

  • It's all theory crafting and impractical nonsense. Statistics from open competitions all over the world and especially from the UFC show brazilian jiujutsu and muay thai are the most deadly human weapon masteries out there. Why? Because they are concise and are practical in any fight situation. Contrary to all those flashy kung fu films and drunken shaolin and preying mantis bullshit styles with all their fancy moves, you use up to much energy and power at the cost of style and finesse.

  • its not the fighting style but how hard the fighter trained and listend.

No single style is better than any other.

some are flashy for a reason.

and no, Kung Fu doesnt waste energy, unless your fat and lazy and weak.

any real martial artist would not waste a figth with a move that could force thenm to lose.

all martial artist have to be fit to perform alot of moves.

  • lol x 10

    u are rite

  • doesnt work in real situations???????

    wrong

  • whatever you say. Capo by itself wont work.

  • @FolkSound252 are you sure bout that? because pratically it helped me in fighting situation , do me the favor and learn the history, THERES A REASON WHY ITS MARTIAL ARTS ,fucking sheeps that people are, if it wasnt then it would have bin gymnastic or sumthin m but they call it martial arts you dim wit,

  • For the most part I see most of you are at least willing to try and understand it, it's a useful art as well as all the others IF applied right and if you mix them with others you are a deadly fucker...look at the full speed kicks and you will see why they don't hit each other during play or practice. If you can take there kicks and use em with thai or kung fu and some wrestling, that would be a serious

  • I dont see the big deal about this one...

I do Muay Thai and it owned any of style i have come across.

I have done kung fu and judo also..

I dont see what people love about capoiera.

  • stfu racist b1tch

  • fuck you too...DON'T HATE APPRECIATE

  • that fat fella cant kick for shit

  • for all those people that doubt capo, why don't you try and fight someone that does it and how you get your head knocked off. Alot of you have never seen the combat version only the play and trust me you could'nt handle a real capo artist or maestrae

  • first thing there is no such thing as a freakin better style!!! Any real artist would know this and not be so cocky about it, plus capo is very hard to do especially if you don't have rythme...Plus alot of schools don't teach the real fighting form of capo(angola). Capo is just as useful as any other art if applied right and or mixed with others, i've taken it and I also have taken jujitsu and kung-fu...I see weakness in all forms

  • well mr.mister i seem to kno everythin about bullshit.what you are seein here iz called play.tha reason they dont use full speed kicks iz becuase you could literally kill someone with that shit.like it iz wit all martial art if applied right it can be virtually impossible to stop.the speed, flexibility, and tacticz involved are perfect to combine with a martial art that teaches brute strenth.but itz only if you apply it correctly

  • @FolkSound252 ok so it suck huh.... come n fight me then... lol you wont come out pretty .. niggas like you i end up adjusting thier face

  • @steven10462 you need to adjust how you spell the word "their", maybe if you spent your time learning to read and write, and less time learning a useless martial art, things like this wouldnt happen. I hope your mother dies.

  • @FolkSound252 see you worried bout cheking all up on my spelling instead checking how imma whoop your ass ...n if its soo useless go against me or a black belt , well see wholl come out useless... lol stop talking n do somethin..trolls like you makes the world so compllicated... lol ttalking about my mother , dont you got somethin better to say?? i guess, but i hope you get ran over by a car , shot 2wice in the head n burn hell..

  • I'm sick and tired of hearing people talking of capoiera like it's some skill-less martial art. Any1 who knows any thng of MA's knows 1)Things can and will get lost in translation or will be held back. 2)Some MA's may not be as effective fighting techniques as others BUT this also depends on who the teacher, the pupil and the MA itself. 3) The people doing the slating could never do what the vids show OR stand up against the people in the vid. Any1 can be a tough guy when they online

  • lol at the guy who made a black joke and people flip, people are bitches on youtube, how does that make him a racist punk, anyhow, i doubt that guy is actually racist

  • nice...that's it....

  • that has got to be the most racial comment I've EVER heard. Do you know anything about capoiera? where it originated or why the african americans adopted the fighting style in brazil? I bet you don't do you? read up on shit before you start running your mouth you racist ass punk.

  • dude, you obviously haven't read very many YouTube comments

There's such hideously ignorant bigoted shit on here that its enough to make you lose faith in humanity, I swear to God

  • 'black guys only know how to dance' WHAT THE FUCK DO YOU KNOW THEN?!!!! STUPID FUCKIN(G) COMMENT. AND GET YOUR FUCKING SPELLING RIGHT!!

  • lol well most of them are for real but alot of them also just say it to piss people off... they will get theirs in the end... god doesn't see us as a color neither should we

  • You know whats even funnier. Is that there not black. What a dumbass huh.

  • actually they are blk and hispanic...that area was where they brought slaves and they people created capo combining angola and another art, if i'm correct, but don't quote me on the exact details.

  • yeah and ican say your people are child molesters, but I don't!! so shut the fuck up

  • I know it will sound really american of me to say this, but this reminds me a whole lot of a commercial, going back a few years now, where two guys fight by sticking pictures to the other guy. I think it advertised a camera. It's fascinating to watch, don't get me wrong, but I sometimes have to wonder if it's nothing more than "boys being boys".

  • i live in iceland but my great x7 grandfather was a black slave, but in my other family ( my dads) he was an nordic count

  • my god that is only slow dance form , wouldt ya look if it was full speed and one of them connected .. OUTCH

  • That big guy at the end looked funny. :) Nice vid.

  • seems like breakdance... i now see where pelezinho got his influence from... nice vid...

  • That was a big man doing that at the end O_o.

  • mannnnerrrrro

  • que país es?

  • brasil?

  • RIO DE JANIERO,BRAZIL

  • @deesterrraider brasil RJ praia de ipanema posto 10

    vllw !!!!!

  • i like when the fat guy jumps in

  • yahahhahaha!!!

  • more like hip hop.............

  • EDDY GORDO!!!

  • It is important to remember that capoiera is a martial arts of deception...it was created to fool those onlookers into believing it was purely a dance. Its purpose of going slow is to develop control, if you are ever privileged to see a capoierista fight then you will see that their moves are quick and percise. Those who are uneducated about the art dont understand its practicality, the smallest and most boring techniques of development train you for the moves of more complexity

  • Aint capoeira a type of battle dancing ?:P

  • Isnt the first guy with no top on mestre amen santo??

  • are one of those students of mestre paihakan, militao, and baianinho from sao gabriel??

  • Actually it is a Martial Art. Capoeira: a dance form incorporating elements of Martial Arts. It originated in Brazil as a means of physical discipline. So technically speaking that is what you would call a martial art

  • ....capoira was invented by coloured slaves as a form of self defence disguised as a dance...hence how they 'play' and not spar...in a circle normaly insrements playing..people clapping..loook like having good time, its a way they could defend themselfs without there guards cottening on

  • It was invented by colored slaves, where? In America? I don't know of any slaves that studied Capoeira out here...

  • brazil

  • Yea, you're right about that. This form of martial art/dance is 500 years old. It has really came a long way. Now it's a part of the Brazilian culture.

  • tis pretty amazing how its changed..tis one culture i would ov to be part of lol

  • Yeah I didn't know slaves could create such thing.I wish I could do capoeira...

  • Well...we are and were a intelligent, proud, race of human beings that just so happened to become slaves at one point in our history...you say "slaves" as if we were a different species or being all together.(like aliens,or robots,or big foot for example) JUST A DIFFERENT RACE AND HISTORY BUT ASSURE YOU THAT WE ARE HUMAN! LMAO!

  • I think the informal politically correct term is BLACK PEOPLE and the formal being AFRICAN-AMERICAN

  • thing bout that is that not everyone from africa. we got morenos from peru, brasil, dominican republic among others. i dont agree but i dont disagree either.

  • ANd everyone you named is of AFRICAN DESCENT!

  • well if were going that distance, we are all of african descent according to science.

  • lol and to think all of that came from one truthefull comment about slavery and how it led them to an awsome creation.....ironic..maybe brazil should thank the americans for as good as forcings 'african americans' to create such a thing of style, skill and plain coolness

  • Post a video response

  • Thats what a couple tae kwon do guys said before I sparred with them for "fun" lmfao!

  • haha, i do TKD :P, but im smart enough not to challenge other styles,

  • Why not?! Its fun and you get used to playing with other people.

  • i will SPARE with other styles, but by challenge i mean things like saying "omg, u guys cant fight" or "capoeira is just dancing", thats challenging the principles of the style, which is wrong,

  • ohhhh, yeah I agree with you.

  • this is a dance

  • wow, few questions

anyone in the crowd ever got smacked by accident? lol, nah, seriously, to those of u say that this is shit, omg, ur dumb, u can sit here and watch and go "man, i could dodge that" but then u'd get smacked, and who would have expected the fat fella at the end to do those kicks? huh? u see him walking down the street u aint gonna think capoeira, as for the rest, does this ever get faster? not picking, just wondering, in other games, do they get a little more adrenaline,

  • Yeah some games are break neck speed and some are slow as slugs CAPOEIRA!!!!!!!!!

  • wow...u guys are idoits...this a practice, a game...they arnt trying to hurt each other

besides u guys only probably know of mui tai b/c its been "hollywoodtized" so much

  • man even fat guys can do it

  • U obviously dont know much bout capoeira, they're playing angola, more lower 2 the ground than regional, played more 2 show off balance and beautiful moves than the other styles

  • I doubt that it would be effective in a real fight.. muay thai`s better..i think a good muay thai fighter would beat the shit out of a good capoeira fighter!!..

  • there is a dirty art form of copeira eye gauging, horizontal kicks to the temples, choking and grappling they have their strenths

  • It would be more effective to have a gun...

  • It would be more effective to dance capoiera with a gun? Go shoot yourself

  • Not to dance capoeira with a gun. Pope8888 talked about "real fight". My comment was ironic, just to show that it's pointless to discuss about martial arts' effectiveness in real fights. If you need to fight on the streets, you'd better use a gun.

  • Oh, thanks for clearing that up...Who gives a shit?

  • I really didn´t expect anyone to waste his time replying my first comment as if it was serious...

  • No problem...I was serious, go shoot yourself.

  • @pope8888 hahahah you some funny random dude you know that??? so since you kno muay thai or anyone that u kno that knows it, fight me .. hence i did not saii play me because im not gonna just toy around with you.... i swear you people ya the shit wit ya lil karate shit, if u a bad ass go against a black belt capoieraist, go against lateef crowder, marcus , mester boneco...yea ull deff get ur ass handled
