Maybe the box the DVD came in was labeled "Black Sunday" but the movie is titled "Mask of Satan". Check at 3:33. Kind of cheesy, but a fun old horror flick in any case.

This scared the hell out of me at 9 years old. I slept with a rosary around my neck for a month. My mother thought I was going to strangle myself in my sleep lol. Steele is a scream queen way back before it was popular to be one. The opening scene is one of the scariest I have ever seen. It was the atmosphere of it, its like horror hung in the air muahahahaha

Good movie, but just like all the other supernatural movies, "Satan" is bad and "Church" is good. Didn't they torture her to death in the first place for practicing her faith. Her revenge was misplaced, but the bad guys died out before she could be reborn.

I want a movie where people take down the church for their crimes against humanity, and one where it is ok to be an adversary. lulz.

Good picture, though a bit dated in the fight scene with the bottomless pit.

It is based on the story Biy by Nokolai Gogol. In Soviet they made their own version of the story called Viy, and luckily it is possible to find it here on youtube. You should try it out.

I love the imagery. The set design and the costumes were beautiful. Dark yet romantic. This is a really good gothic horror film. I'll give it a 9 out of 10. : )
