I've asked myself this question a lot since My Heavenly-Resplendent Wife -- My Gift From Heaven, Barbra, died on Nov. 22, 2010. We were married only two years before cancer stole her away from me. Happy Valentine's Day 2012 to all.
@mickeymousebiker1 my heart goes out to you i lost my wife of 39 years to cancer in december 2011 this were her favorite song stay strong brother only god knows why they were taken away love and peace be with you.
@davedavis53 Countless thanks to you. I just prayed to The Almighty that you are reunited in Heaven with your life's most special and beloved gal. Heaven keep you always.
love this song.it made me cry as usual .its been ten months since my love Bethwyn died 51 years young .it dont seem that long since you were 17 it was not long enough with you my love.
Since January 2011, Jimmy Ruffin has been working on writing and recording new songs for his new album which he plans to release on his 74th birthday, May 7, 2013 Wonderful artist..thanks for sharing
@inthesun61910 You get back on your feet, keep your eyes alert for a new love, and keep on truckin! It worked for me. But, I admit, a broken heart hurts awfully bad.
A whole year has passed now since high school graduation in 1965, but my feeling for you are still strong Tom K. I know you will never be my boyfriend after seeing that chick on your arm in the 12th grade. Best you never knew this gay colored boy had such strong romantic feelings for you. This song reminds me of the love I could never have. But I did con you into signing my yearbook !
Wow talk about memories... I just love the music that captured my soul when I was growing up in California..Music Is Not what it used to be...Not even close:(
Big Big Thumbs Up To This MAGNIFICENT GROUP " THE ORIGINAL TEMPTATIONS"!!
I'm 61 and when I was 15 we dance our hearts out to these songs. Every Friday and then again on Saturday night. We did the Cha Cha to this one. So much fun. Guys were great dancers. Here's to growing up in the Philly region and to Chez Vous and Holy Cross weekend dances. And at 61 still dancing to these songs.
@MreViewer Thanks, but actually it's one of my worst "presentations", and the only reason I haven't revised it as yet is the number of views on this one.
When this song first came out, I had just moved from California to Detroit--downtown. I loved the whole city but especially the music! OMG, I love this music.
Used to play this and wondered what does become of the brocken hearted and then I fell in love and was brocken hearted.....I did find what happens.......In time my heart mended and met the most amazing woman......my wife.....
@hailstar1985 Looking for happiness in another person, more often than not, brings suffering. Once you realize that you're responsible for yourself and your own happiness in every moment of this life you can begin to live freely, never to become one of the broken hearted again. This isn't some mad religious comment or anything, I have no beliefs whatsoever in that regard, it's simply an life observation from one who has been there too and who cares about the wellbeing of others. Peace.
My first love and I played this song over and over the first night we met. It was magic then, it's still magic now. I'm still not over that first love, this song is embedded in my memory. In fact, I still get the shivers every time I hear it...That's what real music can do.
thanks eeeeeeclapclap, I heard a little Justin Beiber yesterday and almost threw up. There is no music today, real music is dead. but luckily, great songs like this one will live on...
@sofnsable Maybe it's not that they dislike the song, but rather they don't like the emotional wounds the words open up within their own broken heart. I've given songs a thumbs down because of the feelings the song conjured up.
Definitely in a class of it's own, great song , great singer, great production, all we have to do is enjoy a truly wonderful performance. Loved it the first time I played it and will love it to the day I die.
To all of those saying you didn't grow up in this era. It doesn't matter, i didn't either. You don't have to be a certain age to appreciate good music.
Thanks so much for your reply to my comment, Rock GuitarReviews..most of today's "music" makes me want to puke, and I'm so glad YouTube helps to keep real music alive. Thanks again.
I was blessed enough to be able to hang with Jimmy and David both. We hung with a guy named Rod Stewart as well. I look back and it is such a shame they passed. I was only a drummer (but still a good one). I miss those days for real.
The person who dislikes this song only feels that way because they are broken hearted and came here seeking some attention. They figure if they clicked on the dislike button that would get them noticed.....clear signs of a very empty life. I guess to some people negative attention is better then none at all.
I served several TDY's at Nakhon Phanom on the shores of the Mekong. My original orders were for the 603rd Air Commandos in Laos...they were overrun before I got there...went to Ubon & flew Phantoms instead. You can Google my name: Vernon Wagner. Search for: USAF Torch magazine, Oct '08, pages 5-10...one of my war stories.
@jm9407 Its just the way of what it is, we come and we go but while we are live we try to make it worthwhile, we have times of bliss then get our hearts broken. People come and go our lives and often as you grow old you remember ones that in your youth you took for granted and wonder where they are, us humans can be complicated and stupid.
@lovealwaysdavid ..Yes. U R correct..Jimmy was 2 years older..Both very good..but David was something else.1st time I saw Temps was late "64..Part of the Motown tour..4 tops, Contours, Stevie Wonder, etc...I wonder who'll be listening to Justin Bieber music 47 yrs. from now.. :))..

I can clearly remember walking into the bowling alley with my dad in the early sixties and hearing great songs just like this blasting out of the huge EV speakers suspended from the ceiling. Talk about powerful beating bass and echo!!..it was pure heaven just to sit there and listen to the music as my dad bowled with his buddies while the Motown, stax-volt and Phil Spector records played all nite long.. :)
