Harry Dent and Robert Prechter are both in the upper levels of those who produce market and economic analysis. I'd add Peter Schiff, Marc Fabar, and Warren Buffett (obviously) to that list as well.
If you don't like Harry S. Dent, Jr. you can read the books by Robert R. Prechter, Jr.
He was on the contrary very (too much) negative in the last years with his forecasts. While Dent has a focus at demographic trends, Prechter has his focus at human social behavior trends.
He also predicted that health care stocks and financials would do really well, and look what happened to them. In his audio book, he said Republicans will probably win again in 2008, because economy will be doing so well. He did not predict a drop in housing prices until 2011. He predicted the Dow would be over 30,000. He has been right about some things, but come on. Don't put all your eggs in this basket.
awesome stuff, gonna pick this up

You cant predict economics. They explain the past pretty well but cant predict the futur.
