When I speak of standard of living, I think of things like crime, poverty, pollution, literacy, education,employment. Most of western europe has us beat in virtually all of these categories, according to any source I can find. Check out the CIA world factbook for one.

When I speak of standard of living, I think of things like crime, poverty, pollution, literacy, education,employment. Most of western europe has us beat in virtually all of these categories, according to any source I can find. Check out the CIA world factbook for one.

Russia is #2 ratio-wise with 606 per 100k, working out to a total of about 850k.
