  • Sounds like shit.

  • Cute dub oh and not all dubs are terrible I personally like the Azumanga dub and the Hetalia dub! I know d.gray man isn't the best dub in the world but still! If you no like dub you no watch de geso!

  • So that's Madoka's new voice...not bad actually. But then again this is just me. Fanboys are watching this kind of videos just be jerks and "JAPANESE DUB IS BETTER" or "ENGLISH DUBS SUCK" and I bet my house that most of these people don't even speak japanese at all. This is just pissing and moaning over nothing. Don't like the dub? Well don't watch it, Go watch the version you like, have fun, let other people enjoy something different.

  • NEEDS MORE DEGESO!

  • Took me only 30 seconds to hate the dub. The only anime I have ever watched that had a good English dub was Spice And Wolf.

  • If this dub is bad, then what is good?? What does a good dub sound like?? I want to know????

  • @olekirkrock The azumanga daioh dub. The only dub I liked.

  • @Funnierthan24 That cannot be the only one. What about the Lucky Star Dub? Or the Pani Poni dub? Not /all/ dubs are horrible.

The Clannad dub was horrible, though. I'll admit that.

  • @olekirkrock Hmmm well I liked the Kiki's Delivery Service dub, but that's a movie.

  • @olekirkrock Clannad dub made me want to kill myself

  • Christine Marie Cabanos, she's playing Filia in Skullgirls :D

  • Good dub but the fish puns got old real fast.

  • they should have stuck with ika masume

  • Personally I think she sounds a bit too calm in english. also

OHH GOD THE PUNS! I hate you yet love you so.

  • I thought it was pretty good, though the only thing I've heard this girl say is De Geso... her voice isn't as annoying with a less kiddish voice anyway

  • I think it would've been better with a Child voice actor. Just an opinion :P

  • @x0xchuckiex0x I know, right? :/

  • she sounds like Suiseisaki? same voice actress?

  • leave it to america to ruin everything good in life -_-

  • @HalfGlitcH2320 I will break you...

  • @maalblade just my opinion but, the original version was allot better, i personally do not like dubbed.

  • every goddamn video with dubbing has weeaboo grumbling about the goddamn dubbing

just go be proper otaku and buy your blurays and get more nichijou made

  • The actor that does Ika is also going to do Madoka...

  • Degeso-ka!

  • I think Eiko's voice suits her, by Ika's does not at all.

  • "By Squidy!" haha i like that :)

  • So many puns! You've got to be squidding me... OH GOD IT'S CONTAGIOUS!

  • you overzealous japanese dub fans and your almighty biased opinions...

  • No de geso, no love, how the Ink should I take this anime seriously -degeso

  • Needs more Degeso...

  • @Kreanlorii IT has none

  • She Kinda Sounds Like Nymph From Heavens Lost Property When Its In English

  • the music sounds like sonic classic games but the anime looks like karasumori and full metal alclemest

  • the puns... the punsss.....

  • wow, has she ever met Feferi from Homestuck? or Eridan for that matter?

  • i dont exactly see what the problem is. :S

  • this is actually really good dubbing :o not like the people that sound like they can barely read something o.o no offense to those people

  • Squid girl isn't supposed to sound epic. She is supposed to sound a little plain due to her being a child trying to be.."Awesome". I think the VA is fine.

  • mmmm.. i think you cud say the same is true the other way around... The dubbing process just doesn't work to it's fullest when it's carried over to another language. I guess u cud say its a loss in energy. Though there are some occasions.. Like when i watched DBZ dub, it was really good. Then i watched the J-sub some years later and i was surprise by Goku's high voice.

  • This was dubbed by media blasters and they are terrible dubbers :P

  • @KatherinetheGoth But this dub isnt bad. Well to me it isnt, since its actually a change after hearing the same VAs from Funi and VizMedia

  • @53Spawn Well I think Squid Girl's voice should be better but I think that one girl (forgot her name) sounds okay

  • I feel that Squid Girl's voice needed to be more cartoony and exaggerated. There are plenty of English VAs that are capable of doing that; it's just that this VA in particular was giving too plain a performance.

  • So many puns. By god, this may actually be glorious.

  • If there are the people whom my comments felt unpleasantly, I apologize.

However, I hope that overseas people enjoy the real essence of the Japanese anime more.

Thank you for reading my comments.

  • @Saavykaas Hello. I'm afraid You didn't understand Japanese sense. Your comment proved that.

Probably, if you understood the sense of Japanese truly, you never wrote easily that "I can speak Japanese".

Usually, persons other than a Japanese expert write that "I can speak Japanese a little."

For Japanese people, modesty is a virtue. If modest, love of learning will well up, and They become able to understand things deeply.

  • @Saavykaas (2) Japanese language can be spoken if everyone practices. Yet it is another question whether or not they can understand delicate and deep Japanese nuance.

I watched until now the opinion of many foreigners about the Japan's anime, songs, manga. Their understanding of Japan's pop culture was insufficient.

  • @Saavykaas (3) They misunderstood many because they tried to understand Japanese culture based on the their country's standard (their soul, mind, mental, values).

Besides, they commented on Japanese culture with confidentness though they didn't notice that. That's arrogance. The modesty is essential for real learning in anyone.

If you could understand a really Japanese delicate nuance, you would notice that much precious essences were lost by translation.

  • @SuperTekuteku

Hey, I'm chinese. Does that mean that I stand a better chance at understanding Japanese culture? Since there are similarities between the two cultures?

  • @wetyewruyrtsutrdhjfg If posture which the person asks to others about whether there is any merit of learning, I think that the person should not learn Japanese culture.

Because, it is up to you whether you make use of the thing which you understood.

I think that the autonomy (independence) of the self's mind is important. I hope your success.

  • 2)

When I watch the movies of hollywood, I keep it in mind.

"I felt this movie to be interesting, but, probably I didn't understand the essence of this hollywood's movie enough."

However, if I am the quality of the SUB (DUB) version of Japanese anime, I can understand.

I explained the reason before. An understanding to the exquisite nuance of an original version is required.

  • 1)

Both the sub ver and the dub ver are the same essentially. Valuable essence is lost in a process of translation because Japanese and English are totally different languages.

The problem can be solved when the voice actor's ability is excellent.

However, that's not perfect. Because many countries have the long history, and there is deep culture.

Anyone can't completely understand the culture essence of other countries in a short time.

    That corresponds to me, too.

  • Punny!

  • well, I really hesitate to say it...but actually her voice is very good to hear for me.

is it weird? and I am japanese.

  • Puns puns everywhere

  • lol fk the english voiceactress

  • Why is this only entertaining when I'm fucked up on wild turkey...

  • omg worst voice ever, the original voices are so much better

  • nvm, thanks to clicking on the thumbnails to the right i found it, the full name is: Shinryaku! Ika Musume

you can find it on Goodanime. net

  • where can i watch this in Japenese Dub? i hate english dub and i cant find this on the normal site i go to, so does this have another name it goes by? i looked for Ika Musume and Squid girl, cant find it

  • XD where'da ink your taking me?

  • the actress playing squidy has the right voice for the part but she is just not a very good actress. Plus the english script writer should have been a little more creative with the fish puns.

  • GOD FUCKING DAMN IT! WAY TOO MANY FISH PUNS! still great job.

  • Oh god, those puns. They're so much more bearable in Japanese.

  • Compare that voice with the "engrish speaking" Ika Musume.

But anyway, I feel the voice actress should had put more spirit while doing the acting. Specially knowing how is Ika Musume herself.

  • @toshiootomo2nd Such a comparison is meaningless. When The Japanese voice actors speak English, the emotional expression will become poorer than a case to talk about in Japanese language.

On the other hand, American voice actresses are not usually speaking Japanese language. They are only speaking the words translated into English.

  • @DDSGblast Actually, the voice actress was not being expressive. I'm self aware that they're using translated words. However, she should have putted more impact while voicing Ika Musume. It sounded like a PowerPuffGirl making self introduction.

Honestly, translating the main series name is lame, several names doesn't fit if translated. In Brazil, is pretty natural letting the original names to not sound awkward.

The voice actors here are much more expressive and they fit nicelly.

  • @toshiootomo2nd You misunderstood the meaning of my comment.

  • Dubs > Subs

Each time they say the English-dubbed version is bad, along w/other anime, Robert Downey, Jr. drinks a shot.

  • 0:18 Free bird!

  • Finally a dub. I'm all for subs but sometimes I just dont want to read when I watch a show.

  • @kemando12 yeah. but i only like certain anime dubbed. like naruto and the malancholy of haruhi suzumia. those two are better in english i think. but ika musume should stay subbed, not dubbed. just my comment on it. cos you know, she sounds cuter in japanese. xD

  • @gorrilaboy22 That statement is true for almost any japanese girl, lol. I liked FMA, Black butler, Baccano, Durarara!!, Bleach, Soul Eater... They were allgreat in english. though theres more.

  • @kemando12 yeah. its just that some of the anime's that are dubbed, the voice is all wrong or too realistic you know? infact haruhi and lucky star are only just under the line. also i dont really refer to dubbed anime as 'anime' coz now its just a chartoon without japanese in it.

  • @gorrilaboy22 not true at all. anime is the style of art and animation that seperates it from cartoon. Anime generally has more atmosphere, it just submerses you into the world better, is more serious and much more mature, and better structured than cartoon. And how can you get a voice "wrong"? Anime is anime whether or not it has japanese audio/voice. People are allowed opinions, it's nice that we have the choice. Seriously if you dont like dubs dont watch them, its all the same.

  • @kemando12 true. not to move off topic, but i can tell the differeces between ordinary chartoons and anime. first of all chartoons are not normal and most anime is sectioned as a 'slice of life' according to wikipedia. long story short: chartoons are wacky and peppy, anime is kawai and kinda slow. still rather watch anime though cos you know, i'm 16, not 6. =D

  • This is probably the second worst dub I've ever heard.

  • @ChaosFusion100 Whats the first? One Piece?

  • Listen people. It doesn't matter if YOU prefer subs or dubs. Why even get into such a conversation? Some people like dubs and you probably don't. It doesn't matter and I think I speak for everyone when I say, I DONT CARE.

  • What is the ground? The people who call "Good Dub" didn't say the concrete basis. Do you understand original nuance?

  • @DDSGblast I agree...but, did you quote my text? XD

By the way, ...Episode 12 of ika was televised. the end. me..sad...

please, season 3. need more IKA!!!

  • @FutaeIkken Wow. People actually thumbed down your comment because you said this was a good dub? I completely agree with you anyway, it's just sad that sub elitists would thumb down your comment for stating your opinion.

Watch this get thumbed down as well. IT"S AN AWESOME DUB GUYS. That's right, I said it.

  • @swat2555 Did they? Not like I care. Keep 'em coming, guys. Shows just how petty you are. :)

  • de-geso? It doesn't matter. "Squiddie" is not important, too.

So, even if the voice actress speaks the de-geso, they can't close the problem (door) of this dub.

The nub of the matter is quality of voice, and acting skills.

I pointed out the level of Christine Cabanos's ability, but I didn't criticize "the English itself".

  • not bad, people might complain that she doesnt say de-geso like she does in the original but if she were to say it then they would be pissed...as long as she replaces words like little with squiddle and stuff like that then its all good :D

  • WOKKA WOKKA!

I thought it was pretty funny, actually.

  • Who the ink are you?

  • They all sound like they are in their 30s.

  • Oh dear lord, this is bad, just bad, blood curdling soul crushingly bad!

    FUCKING PUNS!!!!

  • Why so squiddy?

  • "Listen up humans"

Nope, can't listen to anymore dubs.

  • what i don't get is why people who obviously don't like dubs constantly complain on a dubbed video i mean really you will never see a complaint on a subbed video which is always easier to find wouldnt life just be easier if people just stopped starting shit i mean really! I PREFER DUBS! SUE ME

  • @ChaosRain786 I respect your intention. It's free that you like the dub ver.

And, there is a right for other people to become disagreeable about this ver, too.

Nobody disliked this without a reason. There is the basis. so it's natural to explain.

  • This is the last time I let /a/ recommend me shit.

  • why is there so many dislikes?

It's actually a pretty good dub and I've seen worse than this.

  • that was far too many puns...

  • I'm gonna krill whoever chose the dub actors!

Although I guess I've seen worse...

I have confidence that they'll ink out the problems along the way and we'll all be kraken up like we were when we watched it in the original Japanese...

    .............................

DAMN IT! NOW EVEN I'M USING SQUID PUNS!

  • She sounds like a slut. Just kill me now...

  • Is that Tia Ballard?

  • Hey. Whiners. Be glad 4kids didn't get their hands on this.

  • Americanization of animes made the scenes sounds pretty bad.

In my country, we usually don't pretend that the story take part in Brazil.

We leave the japanese elements and translate texts in small subtitles to allow people understand a pun. I really wish to have this show released in Brazil, but with the dub of Rio de Janeiro since São Paulo dub sounds quite bad.

  • Comment removed

  • @SuperTekuteku i love japanese ver the dub acters always suck in emotion and expression like in a dub a character gets angry and actually says grrrrrr it is fucking annoying i want to kill the dubbed voice pple it annoys me!!!

  • @SuperTekuteku dude, i'm watching moeshit with a squidgirl MC. Why the fuck would i care?

  • @MrMobileMusic SuperTekuteku is my friend, and he is a Japanese. Naturally the Japanese language can talk, and he can understand the delicate nuance.

You are a rude person. You do perversion on malice and used the impolite, vulgar words.

  • @MrMobileMusic You said the most wicked slang. I doubt your personality. You cannot understand delicate nuance.

  • @SuperTekuteku I'm just going to share a statement shared by Greg Ayers of former ADV, now Funimation, that he was told by Shinichi Watanabe during one of his many panels done at anime conventions. "Anime is meant to be heard, not read."

The only way you're going to "understand the delicate nuance" of the language, really, is if they're Japanese, in which case they won't be watching this.

I'm getting tired of so-called fans trashing good translation work trying to feel "elite".

  • @Furluge That's a good quote. I treat dubs like audio tapes, it doesn't really matter about the quality.. at least I can understand it unlike Japanese with subs. You can't really feel the emotion of the characters when you're having to read subtitles instead of listen.

  • Comment removed

  • The "-de geso" add-on has been replaced with squid puns... eh, why not? It's pretty much a kid's show anyway.

Eiko's voice is okay. While Ika's voice seems too old for the character, I could probably get used to it.

But I'm not watching the Season 1 dub right now anyway... this winter break is gonna be used for Season 2 subbed!

  • You guys bitching about her name. Ika Musume translates to Squid Girl, the sub I watch translates it to Squid Girl, so I didn't get it at first when people called her Ika Musume, and I got over it, you should do it too

  • @Liberykiller

problem is that too many people who watch only fansubs don't actualy know much japanese, or only know a small amount that is not enough to let them know the quality of the dialogue (if you dont know much of a language, it is hard to objectively judge writing quality when all you have is a translation that you cannot judge the quality of) and the voice acting (from not knowing what spoken japanese sounds like when spoken by real people).

  • If it aint FUNimation dubbed, than it's better off not watching these days; what happened to the good ol' days of bad dubs that people liked anyways (Sailor Moon, Macron 1, Yugioh, or Voltron, anybody?)

  • why_would_you_that.jpg

  • Lost it at "inkvasion." I may have to watch this dubbed.

  • Where the hell do they find all these old hags to voice little girls?

  • This show looks awesome. No way in hell does the dub sound terrible. /sigh people still living in the 80s and early 90s.

  • Eiko doesn't sound too bad but Ika is just...ugh T_T

  • Comment removed

  • 0:54-0:56 My reaction to this clip :(

  • The comments bellow make me tear my fucking hair out.

  • why does she sound like shes 30

  • So they Don't use her Japanese name at all? Well that's a pretty bad strike against this I got to say. The puns seem pretty dumb, feels like forced Americanization to get a chuckle out as opposed to trying any real comedy. the voice acting seems sub pare, below average and not as good as it could be. I usually expect that though if it's not high profile like FMA it seems the dub company put lil' to no effort in it to release it other than to make a quick buck.

  • @neroangelo316

I agree on most points, but the puns are just like in the original version.

  • @Verd254 I honestly don't remember the puns being this bit of annoyance. But I am glad you agree with me on some instances.

  • @neroangelo316

If you watched fansubs it's because most took out the puns and put regular dialog in its place.

  • @neroangelo316 I am not sure if what I watched was fansubs. It may have been, I do recall her saying some water based puns and I am fine with that. I'd even let the English dub get a free pass but they call her Squid girl, why are Japanese names so taboo? I am surprised Goku from DVD is called Garry or some crap with the way this Americanization bull crap happens.

  • @neroangelo316

They called her Squid Girl because that's what Ika Musume means.

  • @onemillionthhokage Ne that as it may but in the manga I have read and the anime I have seen she is called Ika Masume they didn't flat out call her squid girl.

  • oh dear lord..

  • ew dubs suck

  • Oh god, this actually surpassed the terrible levels of HorribleSubs

  • The dub's better than it should have been, I hope the dvds sell well.

  • The English dub is pretty good. Its not as fun as the original voices, but its good for folks who like dubs more than subs.

  • The English voices aren't that bad, honestly. But the puns. They. Just. Don't. Work.

  • @zanafor3 OH GOD THE PUNS!!!!!!

  • Im thinking that the subtitles on the episodes you watched was the ones where they replaced Ika's name with 'squid girl', and provably removed ika's "Degeso". But just letting you know that when the subtitles say 'squid girl', its rely saying Ika Musume

  • Wow.

    I fucking hate this.

America y u ruin all my anime?

  • @SlayerHollow999 i fail to see how america "ruins" an anime by giving it an english audio track -_-'

  • @lordcrab86 Are you kidding me? This is terrible.

I would have "DE GESO DE GESO DE GESO DE GESO" shoved down my throat then have all these squid puns in english. God everything about the dub is just awkward and strange. No bueno.

  • @SlayerHollow999 well i think the puns make sense sense she is a squid after all. plus like i said, i felt having de geso in the dub would make it sound awkward.

  • @lordcrab86

not to mention, the original Japanese also had puns, its just that you need to actually understand japanese to realize it.

The same with people who criticize the voice acting as being bad, when they probably have no basis of comparison for the original Japanese, as in most anime, the dialogue is quite often not how a regular person would talk.

  • @SlayerHollow999 hey I don't like dubs either. at all. But you know, the chances of anybody forcing you to watch it is very very low.

  • @SlayerHollow999 Because your anime sucks you pedophile

  • @pressurers iknowthisalready.jpg

  • @pressurers You sir are a faggot. Now please be kind enough to leave the internet and never come back. Thankyou and dont come again..:)

  • @AnimeXGirlsX You don't scare me you homophobic pedophile. I just sent Chris Hansen to your house to make you kill yourself.

  • @SlayerHollow999

LOL, over reaction much? Good dub is good dub.

  • Reminds me of Haruhi Suzumiya! >w<

  • i don't know about you all, but i think leaving in "geso" in english would be kinda akward. besides, the puns make sense since she is a squid.

    but hey that's just me.

  • WHERES MY GESO!!!!!!
