  • RIP Davy George and John

  • RIP Davy Jones, John Lennon & George Harrison.

  • this sounds like a 60s rock off! well done

  • Best ever mash up (er, I'm 52, is that what you youngsters say?).

  • Good mash-up though

  • The Monkees - the band The Beatles would've turned into if Brian Epstein was still knocking about.

  • lol

  • cool

  • It shouldn't be too hard to mash these two together since the Monkees were designed after the Beatles, but it's still damn good nonetheless.

  • It's a little fuzzy, yes, but I can't stop listening to this. Love it!!! :D

  • Re-upload with better sound quality? Nice mashup though!!!

  • despite the audio sounding band the mashup is good

  • to bad this is the only way we can see what it would have been like if they performed together. i love this video!

  • @HaWkBeAtLeSnElSoN Come here to beatlesmonkees.forumotion. com/

  • so neat! woot-woot to mike and john!

  • this song was the first mash up i ever heard and made me fall in love with it

  • This is amazing together!! Could be a new hit! I really like it.

  • Here is a the first "live cover version": search for "The Years" and "Paperback Believer". Sorry -no copy and paste for the link was allowed :-(.

    Have Fun!

  • Wow

  • The Beatles were the greatest group & changed history. The Monkees were a TV show. Comparing the Monkees to the Beatles is like comparing Captain Kirk to Neil Armstrong.

  • @WileERobby Agreed, but Kirk and Armstrong have been to the Moon.

  • @visor109 Yes... one in fantasy, the other in fact. By the way, the analogy I posted was stated by one of the Monkees himself, I think it was Dolenz ?

  • @WileERobby Are you saying The Beatles are better?

  • @WileERobby jesus christ dude calm down......its 45 yrs ago----beatles did their thing and the monkees did theirs.......wtf right? beleive me , do some research there were many more bands that had a lot more session help than the monkees.......and when they did play as a real group they had their own unique sound...hellz no there wasnt any penny lanes or strawberry fields commin outta the monkees but they did some cool stuff as well

  • usually think mash ups are shit but this is really good

  • This is absolutely amazing and would probably be a huge hit if played on the radio today!! The Beatles and the Monkees are TOTALLY AMAZING individually and together would be a smash!!! Love this!!

  • I viewed this a few months back it's Great work, nice to hear the audio's back on, thumbs up again to you from Foxy, i've just done a mash up myself called "Presenting The MonkeeBeAts" it's myself singing Beatles lead & harmonies to a Monkees instrumental, please will you accept my video to attach to your classic mash up? / Foxy!!....

  • 39 people aren't believers who wrote to their ladies.

  • The beatles and the monkees are my favorite bands. But most of all i like the bee gees, the lovin spoonful, the beatles & the monkees.

  • Great fusion of the songs---eerie how they just merge together like that. This was a great mix/mash.

  • The whole Monkees concept was a TV show patterned after the Beatles antics on "A Hard Day's Nighrt'... I don't think they figured thMonkees would atually contribute as much as they did, in fact their music director was fired after their second album.

  • @switcherxx Their music director wasn't fired because he didn't do a good job. (He was phenomenal.) He was fired because the boys wanted more musical control even though in doing so, it was the beginning of their downfall. Still, I love the Monkees. :) They are talented more than the industry back then realized. I think people today DO realize how talented they are, though.

  • Ingenious vid

  • Excuse me Beatards, but the Beatles were fans of the Monkees. The Monkees hung out with them in London while they were recording Sgt. Pepper. IF you need proof of this, check out the video for "A Day In The Life" (It's in the Beatles Anthology and obtainable legally) and hey, if you pause it, you will see that Mike Nesmith was THERE IN THE STUDIO when they were recording A Day in the Life!)

  • lol

  • Hehe, they play this on "Breakfast with The Beatles" sometimes, it's awesome! =D

  • why does this work

  • As another one of those "avid, die-hard" Beatles fan, this is funny and

sad. The Beatles and The Monkees were of two totally different styles

of music. There was "NO WAY" that Ringo, Paul, George and John would've

recorded anything with the Monkees. Although some of the Monkees songs

weren't too bad, The Beatles had The Monkees "OUTCLASSED".!!!!!

  • @sp4armyguy True, the Beatles outclassed the Monkees musically. However, John Lennon was a fan.

  • @GuanRy True, but the Monkees outsold The Beatles and The Rolling Stones

  • @sp4armyguy But...The Beatles liked The Monkees o;

  • @crazygirl8343 Dear crazygirl, Please read the post by "WileE.Robby". The Beatles may have liked the Monkees as people, but you know as well as I do and every other Beatle fan that the two groups were

not to be mentioned together in the same breath. The Monkees were only a tv group that were on Saturday

    mornings.

  • @sp4armyguy BUT THE MONKEES LATER SOLD OUT THE BEATLES AND THE ROLLING STONES COMBINED!!!!!!!! Faggot

  • @TheMonkeesRock

and today the beatles have sold about 1.3 billion records.

and they outsold them for a year, by the end of the 60s the beatles already had sold 300 million records, zeppelin reached that sales figure in 2007 for a comparision.

i still like the monkees though, they made some decent music when they did it by themselfes, and the session guys always knew how to play for sure.

  • @OropherThranduil Okay , you didnt have to reply so late. I already like The Beatles. I do not compare bands anymore so shhhhhhhhhhhhhh

  • @TheMonkeesRock

you can shut the fuck up.

don't try to sound like a know nothing and you won#t get people sayingt hose things to you.

  • @OropherThranduil I said "SHHHHHHHHHHH"

  • @TheMonkeesRock

suck my nutty ballsack you imbecile.

  • The Beatles and The Monkees are my two favorite bands, and this video just makes me grin from ear to ear.

  • incredible mind that can fit these 2 songs together !!!

If they delete it - put it back up ! over and over !!!

  • I like it!!!!

  • Heyyy... It's back. Usually I'm a Beatles fan of the orthodox perversion, and I don't like mash-ups in general, but this is so well done. Cheers me up every time. A+

  • thats pretty cool

  • Very well done!

  • why

  • this is da bom

  • May I suggest the paper "Against Intellectual Monopoly", easily searched.

    .

Arm yourself for the argument with those who push abusive copyright.

    .

I remember a song, back in the early 70s, where the fade out had a guitar lick in each ear, from "can't get no satisfaction" in one and "day tripper" in the other.

    .

It was glorious, and I only heard it once.

  • what program did you use to combine both songs

  • i got audio....

  • love this mix

  • Audio's back, but it's a little more tinny than it was before.

  • For a full live version of that song look out for "The Years-Paperback Believer"!

  • It's all Viacom taking things down. They took down videos of the Beatles which they DO NOT OWN RIGHTS TO. I'm waiting for them to take down my two Beatles vids. God this really pisses me off!!!

  • Amazing!!!!! I wonder if they have ever met each other pre Pizza comercial?

  • @Rts4108 (Feel weird replying to comments made 1 year ago xD) Mhm! John invited Mike to stay with him in England, The Beatles threw a party for The Monkees, and Paul invited Micky to some Sgt. Pepper record sessions.

  • "i hope that was a joke. the monkees were manufactured as an imitation of the beatles."

I have no clue why you're marked as spam (why so many haters?) but that is the truth of it and I have no idea why it's so hard for some people to understand and accept. And yes i'm a fan of both.

  • very cool..they should have combined.. The The Bonkeys..))

  • Don't forget the Meatles!

  • pretty good!

  • these two songs together sound almost better than they are separate.

  • YeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeW!-terrible!

  • Actually "Last Train To Clarksville" was a rewrite of Paperback Writer. That would've been a cool mash-up.

  • @crapple009 Yeah, I was gonna point that out myself if no one else did. :)

  • Fuckin amazing

  • ace

  • luv it!!!

  • GOOD FUSION

  • obra prima esse tal de mash up

  • YAY!

    ::starts dancing::

  • nice! gives a new meaning to WTF :))

  • I re downloaded this Gem thanks to the poster here.... My laptop crashed and I am rebulding my collection of tunes.. This rocks man and Shame on WMG for taking away a lot of great stuff such as this...

  • Audio worked for me

  • fuck you WMG

  • I can't believe they disabled audio on this. Freaking bastards!!!

  • Well it seems they did it without notice and DMCA requires they notify me.

  • @UncleHeavy90210 IT'S BACK, BITCHES!

  • WMG can blow a fat one.

  • The YouTube team enjoys deleting audio when they aren't masturbating to pictures of Adolph Hitler. The stupid bastards don't seem to realize that there are a hell of a lot more of us than there are of them. If they delete the sound from your video, upload it again 5 times with 5 different aliases.

  • WMG GROUP SUCKS!!!!

  • wmg sucks another one.....

  • The Beatles copyright expired over a year ago...

  • This was a GREAT song mix and you tube just RUINED it for all of us GEE THANKS. this was an awesome video-- sorry they took the audio away ):

  • Not to mention , how many times do i have to buy a song before I own it? Let's see two vinyl versions of Abbey Road, 2 cd versions, plus Beatles anthology etc. etc. I must have bought every Beatles song about five times over the years. Sure bleed me for more. Hello Limewire

  • Damn entertainment Nazis, IS MY INTERNET BILL NOT ENOUGH!? 1984, Orwell was right. I guess I will have to stop coming to youtube for this stuff and go somewhere else. Damn savages, heartless scum.

  • ah, even though this video has been rendered useless and left out to dry like a ballbag in the wind, it looks like the internet moguls haven't spread their black magic to all corners of youtube. I wont show you where it is because then I would just be helping them, but its safe to say that this policy of theirs doesn't seem to be effective and work accross the board. The Censorship, the Horror.

  • OK, so all this makes me want to do is hop on a Torrent site just to hear this. Great job WMG. I'll make a note not to purchase music licensed by you anymore, I'll just go out of my way to get it illegally.

    Onward to BitTorrent!

  • youtube was cool till they started doing this.

  • Wow.Lifting audio from a video.A well made mashup that you will NEVER see in stores. And the Music industry wonders why people don't buy CDs anymore.

  • Does WMG intend to use subtitles?

  • Copyrighters...Listen to that sound...Nothing?...That's the same sound the cash registers will be making if you keep this up!

  • @nanajanamike Whoa. You have summed up the issue so succinctly and accurately that I'm thumbing it up.

They won't read the comments though. And if they notice their lack of revenue, you know they'll blame file-sharing and not the fact that they keep putting crap on the menu they offer us.

  • last straw on the stupid haystack... im boycotting WMG albums... not that i hardly ever buy cds anymore anyway...... its like theyre strangling themselves while drowning...

  • Man.. Youtube is getting to be way to controling. next you wont beable to post videos any more...

  • FUCK WARNER MUSIC!!!!!

  • I Guarentee no one at WMG even knows as most take downs are done with bots and 3rd party. Someone should have given me notice as the Law requires.

  • What the fuck good is this now? Sound removed?

C'mon, it's a fan based remix, it's way different than anything you idiots put out for real.

  • Dammit, the sound has been removed. :(

  • WOW!!! GREAT JOB!!! I just watched a mashup where someone tried (and failed hard) to combine Within You Without You by the Beatles with God Only Knows by the Beach Boys, two of my favorite songs.

  • This is so catchy!!!

  • This mash up is awesome! Both groups are awesome! I'm a bigger Monkee fan than a Beatle fan but they're both awesome. I hate how people give the Monkees shit though, they're both great! Don Kirshner=asshole.

  • The best Mix I've ever heard!

  • I love the beatles WAY more than the monkees but this would be really cool if they did really work together on these songs and made a remix! JUST WHAT I WAS LOOKING FOR! 8D

  • this sound really good.

  • Best mix on the world !

  • totally!

  • oh WOW!!! The part starting around 1:00 is EXCELLENT!

  • monkees&beatles=LOVE

  • Haha, this is so awesome!

It's not like, superchoppy and it sounds cool. And the visuals are great!

    Good job, whoever made this!

  • What he's saying is that Boyce & Hart got the idea for Clarksville from hearing Paperback Writer. And Patty, who doesn't care for the Beatles........I bet you just LOVE the Monkees, though.

  • Somehow I doubt that since "Paperback Writer" was released in May 1966 and "Last Train to Clarksville" was releasec in August 1966

  • Boyce and Clark said that "Paperback Writer" was inspired by "Last Train to Clarksvile"? Funny, I never heard McCartney say that.

  • I have "Beatles vs Andy Griffith" and "Beatles vs Frank Zappa" videos posted. I thought I was the only person who thought this way!

  • Beatles vs. Andy Griffith? LOL That sounds nuts!

  • how is this done!

surley the old masters arent avail?

  • I like it when it cuts to their faces and they have a slightly puzzled/confused look.

  • I'm scared and confused

    LOL

  • I've grown up on both of these bands. I'm more of a Beatles fan though. Anyways..getting back to my point. I would have never thought the two songs sounded the same.lol. But they do & its awesome!

  • love both bands and this actually sounds good

  • It's funny that these 2 songs go so well together, since Boyce and Hart say that "Paperback Writer" indirectly inspired "Last Train to Clarksville".

One of them caught the last line on Paperback Writer on the radio, and incorrectly thought they said something about a train, and thought it would be cool to write a song about a train....=P

  • I don't care for the Beatles, but this is SO COOL!!! WOW!! What a great idea!! AMAZING!! MORE!! MORE!! MORE!!

  • My mom and I think this is cool and would like it on a cd.

  • I love this!!!

  • This has an AWESOME Sound~

  • I love both, but the beatles were the most talented and they were the greatest, but i would most likely enjoy watching the monkees. :)

  • well, i love both bands. even though both bands were great and most popular in the 1960's, the beatles were more experienced with music. but the monkees still rocked. and even though they were also great at acting, the monkees were by far better actos. But the beatles were good too. But over all, i have to say that the monkees are my favorite!!!!

  • :) Wonderful.

  • As a lifelong fan of both bands my understanding and passion for their music runs very deep.

I really appreciated hearing this. Frankly I don't understand all of the negative commentary. It's just fun - both songs stand on their own and the "mash-up" of the two is another expression of the beauty of both in a different form.

Quite often, music people overanalyze things. Music is life to me, but I insist on keeping the love simple. It all sounds better when you stop thinking too much.

  • I don't understand the whole concept of a "mash-up." Songs are created and recorded as SONGS. Why not just enjoy a song (especially a great song) for what it is??? The whole things weirds me out. But whatever -- people spend their whole lives creating great music and then people who have nothing to do with anything come along and play with great work like it's nothing -- or worse, like its THEIRS to do with what they want. Not my cup of tea, sorry to sound harsh.

  • anyone know where I can find a bunch of similar mashup mp3s for download? I got some from the link in the notes but I want more to make a compilation for my mom before her birthday (june 17th).

    Thanks for any help :)

  • man...that is awsome..

Great Great job - who did it and edited this two songs is a genius!!!

  • its a bit of insult to the beatles to be paired with the monkeys (no offence to monkeys fans) but this was ok!

  • Why is it an insult?

The backgrounds of each band are completely different, but in the end, both bands made great music that's lasted generations and will probably be around for years to come.

  • it was a bit stupid for me to say it was an insult to the beatles because, like you said the monkeys music is still popular, im basically saying in terms of talent and popularity the beatles are much bigger than the monkeys

  • Understandable.

But the Monkees weren't necessarily created for the music. The Beatles got together because they wanted to make music.

The Monkees, as we know, were just guys who were picked up off the street to make good television.

So, like, in their defense-the Monkees were on a completely different boat with people encouraging their television aspect more than their musician aspect. Giving them some argument to why the Beatles outdid them.

I for one, am more of a Beatles fan. But still.

  • completly agree with you there mate!

  • Interesting choice of songs to pair up. I liked the Beatles for what they were, and I liked the Monkees for what they were, and I think this was kind of a nice tribute to both. Kudos!

  • Very very cool

  • OK I first I thought this would suck, but I like it! Cute and catchy.

  • um, i was joking friends.

have u ever seen dumb and dumber? they say that. i hope no one is mad at me.

  • Don't sweat it, dude. That was freakin' funny. If someone doesn't get it, they're the idiot.

  • thanks, i needed that.

  • EXCELLENT!!! 5 stars video !!

  • INCREDIBLE. Well Done!

  • the monkees were a big influence on the beatles. everyone knows that.

  • LOL!

  • i think it's the other way around

  • Are you high or just retarded!!?????

  • He's joking... (I hope. D:)

  • pookyboy9786-

    um, no.

  • I've been a Beatle fan since 1965 and a Monkee fan since '67, and they've both always been my favorites. This mix is excellent - but do I detect a little bit of Last Train to Clarksville? I'm certain I do. Well done!
