@everythinguwanted HAHAHA. it is one of my favorites. I let myself fall backwards lucky the slope was just enough. It was hard to keep the video going. The rest of time I was on kneeling down.
Pretty stunning flying there - very inspirational. Really truly amazing low flying - you need strong wind for that, I imagine by the sock in the background?
One morning I was asleep in my car at the reststop at Weed at the N california border and who's smiling face should I waken too? Ken Brown knocking on my window!! HG is good times!!
I find it funny to see some of these commits making fun of the 'little hill' - I flew this beach and it's 7 mile soaring ridge for years and found it funny when some of those 'big mountain' boys had problems getting close and draging their tips durring the annual Marina Steeplechase speed races
I was there one day when a local pilot got to 3500asl in convergence off the dunes, starting at the N end. There was a general scramble to try and get up with him, but no-one else made it. He landed back at the beach as he only had full use of one arm (a disability)! He sat up above the roll cloud for about an hour.
Outside of being brilliant flying, there is a great quality to all of that. I would have never imagined a hang glider could be flown like that. It's going into my favorites.
I would like to do this very much!

Next time you find those conditions, consider flying a few miles north to the Salinas River and back. It can (and has) been done. :P

It helps that your name is Kenny :-) The winds were blow'ng ~13-18. Also the direction was good enough to work the bowl. It is AMAZING flying.

Neat flying. I spent the summer of 83 working for Flight Designs and flying with Ron Hess & Dan Murphy. Kenny was a fledgling then!

george - a person can tow another person into the air, not very long, high, or far, I don't think its been done amish style (with a horse) though.
ABout 16 mph airspeed is needed, so depending on wind, you may have to run, or you can just take a step
Ex3B 3 years ago
Yeah, it's been done (towing with a horse).
saltoricco 3 years ago
That was awesome. How fast does Kenny have to go to get airborne? Have you ever been towed by a horse?
