Thinking further on your idea, if you did have term limits with real campaign finance reform, then when an elected official is terming out, they will be looking for their next job and they might be encouraged to vote as a favor for their next job.

@EscambiaDemocrats not quite. it is also the responsibility of the people to stay informed of cnadidates, and all that need happen is for people- not even the entire population, but enough for there to be consequence when they are uniformed in voting. when enough people wake up and see what their government is doing to them, they can vote for neither democrat nor republican and emerge as a third party.

@chazfensk The other issue with spending after 2008, there was a crisis in the economy because of the banks and Wall Street. If not for the Stimulus we would have gone into a deep depression. Republicans seem to living in denial about what the crisis was and like to call the Stimulus a failure, which is nothing short of a stupid lie on their part. The GOP answer for everything is to cut taxes and deregulate business. Their actions in cutting taxes suggests they don't care about the deficit .
