@brandonreynal The best mpg I got was 20.3 in the 2nd setting. Open road empty. I run it in tow safe mode about 90% of the time. I tried the 2nd setting for a while, but didn`t like driving that much because it was to jumpy.
@weekendwarrior720 I haven`t had it long enough to say for sure. I use the truck in many configurations, towing, hauling here in the hills of eastern TN. So its hard to say yet. I believe it has helped some. maybe 1 - 2 mpg, but no 3 - 4 mpg. I looked at a couple different programmers and the edge made the most since. With it being an older truck it limits the selection a little also. I have been impressed with it. Let me know what you get and how you like it!
@weekendwarrior720 It will give you some gettie up.... I run mine in tow safe mode because I tow most of the time. I ran it for a while in race mode just out of curiosity. You have to get on it a little to smooth out the shift points (I assume you have the auto e4od) Its the cheapest and simplest way to add some HP & TQ. It would be idea to get a EGT meter if your running hot and heavy alot.
Thats great mpg for 4.10 gears. I would much prefer the 4.10 over my 3.55 for towing. As far as mpg with a programer I didn't notice any drop, its the same if not a little better. I am also looking for a good EGT gauge. From what I hear you need to spend a little money to get a decent EGT gauge. The cheap ones are not accurate and don't hold up well. When I get around to installing gauges I will let you what I find. Thanks for your post!
I got a 97 Regular Cab with auto tranny and 4.10 gears. Keeping it under 70 i'm getting around 20mpg and with mixed city i'm getting 18.5. Excellent mileage with 4.10 gears. I'm thinking of getting the programmer from edge....is it worth it? I know the power gains....but i'm worried about it affecting my already perfect MPG. My truck is bone stock.
Cool, thanks for the input. I do need to get a EGT meter. I have been running in the tow safe mode most of the time. What kind of mpg have you been getting? I can get 20 + empty and only about 12 towing. 3.55 is gears is great empty but hurts for towing.
I have the evolution and I didn't know u could do that. Is it in the performance settings

How did u tune it on the fly like that
Tbeston 8 months ago
@Tbeston Not able to do any on the fly tuning/programming with the edge. Only thing you see on the fly is the engine stats, RPM, temps, etc...
