although i think he just added flange, or autoyah (check out digitech) with it. because around the end he isnt doing anything with the back and it still has that sound

im absolutely positive that the opening of the boot has no effect on the sound. the pick up is connected directly to the soul. the rise and lowering of tone is a digital pattern made by his effect "matrix" if he used a book or any other hard surface it would sound the same. the boot is to be silly and different.

@Dracanic Hey good analysis!! However, i tried 3 books of various dimensions and none of them work. The digital pattern heard is only created with a, you guessed it, cowboy boot. Thanks though. :P

hmm the way it looks, he has some sort of amplification/ distortion mike at the end of it, and when he taps the sole of the boot, he opens and closses it whith his arm to change the sound when he hits is. thats my guess. pretty ingenous
