Look at this game. It's nothing but dragging almost identical units around. That's below what Dune 2 was. EA, however, has done new things with every CNC game.

Again, they saved the whole franchise. Westwood dropped the ball with the worst game in the whole series (Tiberium Sun), while CNC3 was an actually fun game with a much better story. I'm betting you never played either game, though, and just follow what other Westwood fanboys say. I've never seen a Westwood fanboy use any sort of reasoning, just blind hatred.

@PsychoticLoner Looking back on the game, yes it does look shit. But you have to consider this game was made back in the 1990's when there weren't many RTS games aside from Warcraft. However Red Alert has been a nostalgic game for many gamers including me, and even Red Alert 2 to some extend. There was just something Red Alert 3 was missing that I'm sure many of us can understand.

Whether or not you like or dislike this game, it will always remain a treasured piece of history in the franchise.

Yes: that something is "nostalgia". When people like you praise this game, it's not because of it's strengths, it's because everyone played it when they were kids. It's like Empire Strikes Back; most people were children when it came out, but when one looks at it with a critical eye, it's apparent it's the worst movie of the Star Wars series, yet people still glow about it and demean the superiour new movies, simply because they're remembering their childhood.

I did look at the "horror". It is one of the funnest games in the series. It strips away all pretenses towards "depth" (which is an obstacle for RTSes) and was just about blowing things up.

I'm not entirely sure how you can "try" something without owning it, and still claim to have a grounded opinion of something. I stick by what I said.

Funny, I played the demo to Company of Heroes, and I didn't like it, yet I don't go on to every COH video I can find and say how much it sucked and that Relic ruined the RTS genre. But I guess I'm just an EA fanboy.
