  • i think this really should have been kept in. as a kid i was always kind of confused about what was happening up until he meets augra and as an adult i still think the very beginning is kind of abrupt. i feel like this scene would have really helped the flow.

  • Someone upload the work print please!!!

  • That music sounds so evil. :0

  • They should have left this part in the movie I always wondered what they did with them after they died

  • creepy they touch the old emperors bones

  • Comment removed

  • it kills me when urzah tells jen the garthim hordes will kill you...now go!

  • for the skisis: So Awesome but, with that music, It's freaking spooky 0_0

For the mystics: soooo epic & I can't even put into words how sweet the music is ^^

  • This scene was a very powerful one. I am surprised it didn't make it to the film.

  • jim h played all the details. lovely

  • not seen this before thanks.

  • Bela Lugosi's Dead Bauhaus nice cover JH

  • Truly one of the most gorgeous movies ever created. Seeing this was like seeing Henson's mind: Genius and captivating.

  • The Skeksis funeral I can understand leaving out, but the one with Jen and urZah should have been kept in the movie.

  • They put the emperor in a giant bong and smoked him!

  • Wow this is spookyo-o. There's no way the sequel will outdo this

  • I love this movie but the this scene would had killed the pace of the movie

  • FIND OKRA

  • I think they should have kept it in, now that I've watched this 3 times.

  • I can tell why they cut it. It was way to dark for a kids movie

  • @ingeberck I agree, though I don't mind those scenes though I 'm seriously not used to seeing those two scenes since they deleted them.

  • THERE NEEDS TO BE WHOLE MOVIE ABOUT JUST THE UR SKEKS!

  • @frenkmelk YES!

  • This movie was awesome, but it would've been even better if they kept the original language for the skeksis-only scenes, and had them speak the weird jumbled accented English that the Chamberlain used when talking to Jen and Kira in the middle of the movie for other parts.

  • i would love to cook one of those giant turkeys for thankgiving.

  • i 've never seen this part

  • should have kept the scene in...definitely

  • wow, cant believe I hadnt seen this before! Thanks for posting it! They should have kept these scenes in the film.

  • Wow--Even the deleted scene is masterfully done.

  • they had the mystics part of the funerals in the movie though. i don't remember the skeksis part.

  • lol i think i prefer going to the mystic's funeral it's more peaceful and calming the skesis i'd feel satanic lol and i wouldn't wanna touch the ex-emperor's body pieces lol

  • The Dark Crystal reminds me of the Secret of NIMH. It's looks beautiful I mean the crystal.

  • Illuminati realated?

  • Jim Henson made some of the trippiest, most ingenious movies ever, end of story.

  • Fascinating!

  • oh my god...

  • This scene explains so much

I thought it was weird when one minute Jens master dies then the next hes out on his Journey.

I felt it moved too fast, but this transition scene makes me understand.

  • the REAL reason this was deleted coz its shows some VERY dark black magic ritual layouts and mantras

  • What freaked me out when I was a kid was when the skexis and the mystics became hole and the white creatures they became.

  • They are called urSkeks

  • Wish i had the sheet music for jens pipes his melodies are beautiful

  • Uuuh.. I think it's so creepy oO

  • I have the same opinion!!

  • great soundtrack, great movie!

  • wow cool,I don't think I had seen that.Have you heard of the sequel coming out in 2011,The Power Of The Dark Crystal?

  • ARE YOU SERIOUS! I CANT WAIT.....dont b lyin. :P

  • yes.... Yes... YES!! Its damn time there was a sql.

  • @ureadmymind

I read that the sequel was never completed because he died. But if they do make it, it won't be as good as what Hensen imagined (how could it?) but I still can't wait to see it.

  • @hikarinile it's supposed to come out in 2011

  • @envyshoes

I heard. I can't wait. So many people either haven't seen this or forgot about it.

  • I somewhat hated Jen in some ways in TDC. Is Reading and playing the flute the ONLY thing the Mystics taught him? All those years, with all their knowledge...I mean look at Kira, she know how to survive, have wings, can speak to other creatures etc.

  • jen is the equivalent of a kid being raised by zen buddhist monks. He's not going to have a lot to think about. Kira is the equivalent of a kid being raised by hunter-gatherers. She's going to have a lot to think about. Jen's world is sheltered. Kira's world is not. She needs to kick way more ass than him to survive.

  • @GioNToji Kira is the Yin. Jen is the Yang. Kira was taught the ways of nature and compassion, thanks to the Podlings. Jen was taught the ways of the scholar, reading, writing, music, math, thanks to the Mystics.

This way, they both compliment each other. Future generations of Gelflings would be taught both sides of the one coin.

...besides, as far as the wings go, you can't really help biology. Girl Gelflings always have wings. :p

  • @GioNToji You can't help biology about the wings :/

  • Comment removed

  • I wish I was raised by Mystics!

  • i've been thinking that since i was like, 3..

  • Yeah seriously right?

  • I've always loved the subtly in the puppets' expressions. The hatred between SkekSil and SkekUng is papable. That brief look as they passed each other speaks volumes... And SkekSil's sneer is creepy as hell.

  • Henson was an absolute master.

  • @PhailWynn Fuck yes. He was a god.

  • @PhailWynn Your right. Nobody understood JH's vision when he made this film. He was definitely under appreciated.

  • skeksis sure do know how to throw a funeral. But the mystics I like better.

  • They made a prequel manga out of this??? Wow.....I'm speechless.....

  • I wish they had kept this in the movie. The Skeksi funeral really creeps me out for some reason, and I love the transition between them yelling in their language to Jen's music.

  • Question, why is it in the Manga you only see ONE new mystic but two+ of the skeksis? Haven't read the Manga (don't plan on it, not a Manga person) and I haven't read the Return to the Labyrinth one either...

    Anyway...nice vid.

  • Well in the film, I heard alot of people say that the Skeksis were most of the fans' favorite characters from the movie.

  • You know : When I look to the funerals I tend to wonder about the previous 8 Urru-Skeksis pairs that had died in the last 1000 years prior to this events !!! In the Tokyo Pop manga prequel we are intruded to 3 new characters (2 new Skeksis 1 new Mystic) ; SkekLach the Collector, his counterpart urSen the Monk (who is immediately introduced when you open the Manga) and SkekVar the General.

  • At the end of the Return to the Labyrith Volume 3 manga, there's a preview of the second manga of Dark Crystal. You can see a new Skeksis, not seen before. He's like of mix of SkekTek, SkekAyuk and SkekEkt

  • does anyone noe what's the name of the song where jen was playin his flute?? l really like that part ^v^

  • hey, there is a video called 'Trevor Jones - Funeral/Jen's Journey' on youtube that has the flute song about 2:20 into it, so its probably the start of the song 'jen's journey'. peace.

  • O~~~~

    ok thank you ^-^

  • It always bugs the begeebes out of me how the emperor crumbles up after he dies.

    Creepy.. T_T

  • 2:35 I thought he was a giant for a sec XD

  • haha mikey, <3

  • What did the Ritual Master take from the remains of the Emperor at 0:50

  • his ring i guess

  • That kinda looked big for a ring

  • i thought that they each took up a piece of bone or something, and then dipped it in the fire accelerant

  • I don't think so. The Chamberlain and the General looked at him as if he did something not right.

  • ever since i seen the deleted scene i always thought he took some of the emperors dead remains ti use as part of the ritual.

and i thought the general and chamberlain were exchanging those looks to eachother, kinda like their confrontation before the emperors death :).

  • I don't think so, u can clearly see that they're both looking at the Ritual Master and he looks around as if he doesn't want the others to see what he's doing. And when he takes that thing from the Emperor's remains, he quickly tries to hide it.

  • I can't help but see what i think because it's what i believe to be happening :).

I saw that part as him looking around to see everybody was ready. But i do also see your idea too. He took something that does look like a ring and the Garthim Master and Chamberlain could be looking at him. After all he too was a contestant to become emperor. but it was a bit more subtle in the film. Perhaps this was one of those moments, take a ring of power to ensure he becomes emperor :).

  • Maybe, who knows.

  • The irony is that if his obsession with formalistic adherence to Skeksis law had actually been followed, the Skeksis would have won, because the Chamberlain would've been killed instead of banished, resulting in him not being there to stop the Garthim from killing Jen and Kira.

  • Watching this again reminds me of all sorts of minute details that they paid attention to but didn't mention. SkekSo's casket is triangular: so much about the world has themes of threes. His pallbearers are the three senior officers of the court: the Ritual-Master (ecclesiastical), General (military) and Chamberlain (civil). And the crooked serpent devices from his scepter at each corner are inward-looking, as the World of the Dark Crystal speculates, to contain his spirit there or something.

  • yeah great observations there, i did wonder why the emperors casket is triangular. Though have you read the book world of the dark crystal?. a lot of what you just said reminds me of some of the stuff written in there.

  • Yes, a lot of what I wrote is based on the Skeksis history in World of the Dark Crystal (WOTDC). It also reminds me that SkekSo's death is unexplained: he seems more decayed than the rest of them, but why? I think WOTDC actually urSu chose to die because he knew SkekSo would die with him, causing chaos among the chaos among the Skeksis. Again, back to three: three times three being nine, which WOTDC called a number of instability, the number of Skeksis left once their Emperor died.

  • omg! i was always scared of dark crystal and the labryrinth. still am. something about puppets really freaks me out. the one that really scares me is the one that comes out with the flute in this scene. i think i will always be scarred for life

  • me too!!!! but scared in a GREAT way!!! Henson always did and always will RULE!!!!

  • what. the. fuck. o.e

  • uuuuuuuuuhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!!!!!!!!!

  • Honestly, I thought the labyrinth was better then dark crystal :/

But this clip is pretty cool (:

  • Thanks Mikeyyy <3

  • unusual.. lmao xD

  • i love the soundtrack to this movie, so ethereal

  • tickles my tastebuds

  • Very scary of the Skeksis funeral!

  • the Skeksis had a funeral ritual too!!

Oh that's amazing! Until now i thought they won't care if one was gone, making them more of an unlikable kind. This changes my view of them entirely!!

  • They are petty and deranged, but not without depth.

  • This scene was actually redone for the theater release. And I'm with everyone when I say this: They should've left it in.

But still they REMADE this scene they left in Jen's master's funeral's scene. But remade it.

  • Aww wuy did Jim Henson cut out this seen? It woulden been awsome!

  • Spoiler -

Well but if they´d let this scene to be in the movie, the surprise of the final connection between Skeksis and mystics shouldn´t have been so singular...

  • coooool

  • should have left that scene in...

  • why wasnt this on the RE MAKE DVD???

  • Goodness. ^^

  • They should have left this scene and not delete it.. I really like it

  • Yeah I wish they left it in too... nice art btw ;p

  • thank you :D

  • @LadyFromEast

Me, three. This makes the plot of the film much clearer (Henson's storytelling style could sometimes be somewhat rushed.)

  • @Tizmaole Bela Lugosi's Dead

  • Does anyone know what's the song name at 1:46... where jen is playing the song....(and sry my engilsh is bad)

  • That was cool
