Distracting shot used to be used to do what is called a Split Pull back in vanilla. When you used to have to CC mobs in places like SM Cathedral and you couldnt shoot a convenient trap.

You'd run up, drop your freezing trap just out of aggro range. Tanks pulls. You distract one. It runs at you. BAM, trapped beasty out of the tanks AoE range.

I'm so used to doing this from BC that I STILL do it in my heroics to this day :D

@Manupley considering this vid was made a year and a half ago....pretty much. I have my reasons why i said that.

1. it would be 100% better if it was usable with misdirect, as a fail safe to a missed taunt

2. there was a time where it didnt work on raid bosses becuase of DK army of the dead ghouls. Only a Warriors, Druid, Paladins, and DKs "actual" taunt would work on bosses.

3. ive never been in a raid where we were like, "oh, thank god we had distracting shot! You saved the day Mr. Hunter!!!

Hey back in kara we didn't have no fancy trap launcher. We had to kite those bad boys over our traps. So yeah distracting shot was useful.

@OcoryustheBold i understand that distracting shot is good for kiting. but in all honesty. u could of just did a steady shot and a arcane shot to pull them over (and if caster, silence shot). No one else would of been attracting that target if it was to be CCed. so again...not exactly manditory. i mean its good if u have a retarded mage in ur group :)

@sango213 Misdirection just transfers threat. distracting shot doesnt work with Misdirect if thats what your saying. ............and also they made it so that only a warriors, paladins, druids, and Dk's taunts work in raids and such.

@WoWOutcastNetwork Probably been said, but Distracting shot was instrumental in the Yogg-0 fight. Also had plenty of uses during normal boss fights, if the tank dies, Distracting Shot and Deterrence tank for 5 seconds can make the difference between a kill and a wipe. It could also be used to pull adds off a healer in 5 mans. A good hunter can find a use for nearly all their skills.
