After doing some research online, I figured it would be best if I just bought a powerful desktop computer that can be upgraded easily, then I will work on getting a large flat screen TV to use as a 2nd monitor, then get an Alienware gaming laptop. I just want to throw out all my old stuff and start over fresh with some kickass computer equipment. Vidock seems ok though, I just really hate my old laptop LOL.

@pedromoratalla Good choice - if you have the money and the option. This is really targeted at the business laptop that you want to game on.... Maybe doing CAD on a business class laptop too. Have fun with your new machine. Just a note - you might take a look at Power Notebooks. They have some kick ass laptops from lesser known names - but you get a really high quality computer for less (and make sure to read the report about who makes your laptop).

I have an Acer Aspire 5520-5912 with Vista that I bought about 4 years ago. It works great for everything except for 3D video games. I can not upgrade my graphics card because it's built in and it will cost more than just switching the card. My laptop does have the ExpressCard/54 slot. @snuckles108 its more of a DIY job. your grapics card that you have already can be used. it hooks up to a PCI-E replicator which connects to a ExpressCard-MiniHD via a MiniHD cord. the site i use is (hwtools [DOT] net/adapter/PE4H [DOT] html)

you will need the PE4H-EC2C (about half way down the page), a desktop PSU, said graphics card, and some form of case for it all.

thats pretty much what the Vi-Dock is, but they put it in a snazzy case and gave it a cool name.

Every ViDock vid i've seen uses a sperate monitor. Is it possible to use the laptop monitor rather than going to get another one? In the options, you can set primary displays, so why not set display 1 (the laptop screen) as the primary display? can anyone explain? I wanna know for sure before i splurge on one. For those telling me to get a desktop, people are different and i happen to be a mobile student.

Does ViDock2 only run on express cards? Because I have an ASUS P22 Nova which is like a small media PC, however its so packed inside that there is no room for me to install a "proper" Graphics card as the GMA 3000 that was integerated Sucks so bad. My P22 Nova is not a laptop so thereofore it doesn't have a Express Card Slot. If this doesn't work have you smart people got any ideas? My PC does have DVI and VGA though.

I tested ViDock 2 with HDTV and it works fine. I tested the game Aion Online with it. Textures and Shaders are on high, with AA x8. Get around 40-55+ FPS outside of town and anywhere from 18-33 in town. Not only that my laptop is using Celeron 900 @ 2.20GHZ. Wonder how well it will run on a regular computer monitor and not a sony HDTV.

Its a great idea for those homos who cant afford a desktop computer AND a laptop.. At first i thought it was running crysis on the vidock, but i realized that it was the onboard graphics card :P

Keep in mind that many new games require a good cpu, just as well as a good gpu.
