  • Most people in poverty still have cable/satellite TV and many poor people smoke as well. If they really wanted internet instead, they could dump cable and smokes and save up for a computer and internet. I should know it's possible--I haven't had cable/satellite since 2008 and I have no desire to go back to it (and I don't smoke or drink!). Poor people can use the library for internet as well.

  • You want free internet access, go to a public library. You want internet access at home, get a job and pay for it yourself, you lazy free-loading fuQs.

  • Jacksonville is a fucking cesspool.

  • More entitlements?

I am all in favor of working towards seeing that everyone can have Internet. But I am not in favor giving it as an entitlement.

  • you can find more information about this at bretxadigital.blogspot.com

  • How does one access the internet?

  • @evane1989 How does one access youtube?

  • @evane1989

    The same way two does.

  • Great video!

I'm posting this video in my "digital" playlist"!

  • Point of views have changed since April 2009 for Obama.

  • I work for a company that represents Certiport, a leader in digital certifications. They just interviewed Dr. Esther Johnson, national director of Job Corps, about many of the items you talked about. She believes certifications are critical to closing it, especially in helping lower-income individuals land tech jobs. As she put it, computer certifications are "like having money in your hand." Watch the interview with her on the certiportcomms channel.

  • The Digital Divide is critical in the creation of a sustainable community, particularly in Southern regions such as Jacksonville, Florida. Blacksonville supports the expansion of broadband throughout the world to revive the black economy.

  • @blacksonville1, YOU CAN GET INTERNET ACCESS AT ANY PUBLIC LIBRARY!!!!! We tax payers are ALREADY paying for free internet for anyone that can’t afford it!

  • And vast segments of society making poor choices has nothing to do with it?

  • I am willing to bet most people that dont have internet are elderly.

  • @vikingligrveldi Well that and some places are unable to get internet because of terrain limitation and such.

  • YOU are right. The rest of the country is lagging behind in education while rich kids are getting even more help with their home work & getting better grades because of this social divide. The rich (hoarding) parents actually abused the other parents TIME & health.
