  • He was Spinal Tap in reverse. Michael Bolton STARTED OUT in heavy metal (well, at least what Blackjack thought was heavy metal) and then hit it big with pop songs and love ballads.

  • DAVY JONES, GIANT SQUID!!

  • Michael Bolton is even better back then!

  • Whoa, since when is Derek Smalls a lefty?

  • KISS is all OVER this song...sounds like a Paul sound.

  • I thought this band had great potential....not sure what happened midway....I rememeber the 8-track!....I enjoyed the album.

  • I imagine if I were born in that time, they would've been one of my fave bands!

  • the great jimmy haslip from the tommy bolin band on bass.

  • This is a great song. I always liked Michael Bolton since I first heard of him in the late 80's. I never knew about Blackjack and that it included Bruce Kulick of KISS.I've never understood why he is so hated by guys. Were his songs sappy a & corny? Of course they were but they were good songs and he's got a great voice. I just think the haters are lonely insecure assholes while Bolton was somewhere getting his freak with any woman of his choosing.

  • @orionpaxable Most people criticized his solo career (sappy ballads and radio hits) but he has these great projects too. And yes, incredible singer.

  • You cockroaches wanna play rough? OK, I'M RELOADEN!

  • cool

  • The supergroup before the members became super

  • NOW BACK TO THE GOOD PART!

  • Blackjack's music should be at iTunes but obviously is not.

  • Is that Derek Smalls of Spinal Tap on bass?

  • He,s still hot in any genre of music. Actually he.s so hot he doesn't even open his mouth. Would love to see him in concert again!

  • I actually bought this album at a recordstore as a joke and was shocked how good it is!

He's got a great voice for rock!

  • THIS IS THE TALE! OF CAPTAIN JACK SPARROW!

  • so when did he go blonde

  • Wow, he could have been David Coverdale......where did he turn wrong.....Michael is still great though but Coverdale rulez!

  • A real "before they were stars" moment. Michael was performing under his real last name Bolotin. This song is Blackjack's only Hot 100 chart entry. It peaked at #62 on August 18, 1979. He was only 25 years old at the time. All the band members went on to bigger and better things. So for those out there who think all Michael Bolton has to offer is constipation induced screeching, I direct you to this example of his early years.

  • awesome bass line!

  • I saw this group open for santana in Puerto Rico 1982

  • Talk about a talent pool! Every one of these guys went on to great things.

Bolton, everyone knows....Kulick with KISS, Meatloaf, Grand Funk Railroad...Haslip is one of the most respected fusion bassists on the planet and Gennaro has played with everybody from Cyndi Lauper to the Monkees.

If 'Bolotin' had listened to Tom Dowd, this group might have gone through the roof.

....but these guys were destined for greatness, and all did alright!

  • okay, I love michael bolton. Yes he was WAY before my time. im a junior in high school. But wtf!?!?! I never knew he was in a BAND>! haha. Its actually not that bad. :D

  • where can i download this on mp3?

  • Yeah kids, this is Michael Bolton, the same one that later started doing music for "housewives". The awesome Bruce Kulick on guitar, Blackjack is the perfect example of classic rock music at its BEST and very rare also. Btw. there are so many rare examples like this one its just that the one has to love the music to dig it up from somewhere, pity most of us are to lazy to do it. Blackjack -- a rare diamond in music history!

  • "Derrick Smalls on bass, he wrote this!"

  • Ok my mouth just droped lol This way diffrent from the Michael Bolton I'am use to hearing lol

  • I guess it was either Journey or Blackjack. Journey won.

  • It's Cheech on bass!

  • This song is simply... perfect.

  • This is from 1979! is is correct?

  • Sounds like Don't go breaking my Heart. Elton John in parts

  • They should get back together. Michael is not doing anything right now.

  • Bolton is a very talented singer with an amazing voice!

Too bad you only hear all those wannabees in the radio!

  • haha that bass player thinks hes brutally rockin out

  • wow seen this band many years ago and Michael made a comment he never played with this band but I knew he was lying I have these albums to prove him wrong...and seen him live with them.

  • I hear "Don't Go Breaking My Heart in this song" he had better songs on his solo effoert in 1983. Also had Bruce on guitars.

  • I always loved the vocal hook in this song, when Michael goes into the Tonight chorus. My fave song on the LP is probably "Countin' On You." I've seen Bruce Kulick performing with Don & Mel's Grand Funk. Loved the show.

  • Love this LP, Great rock & roll. And Jimmy from Tommy Bolin's touring band! Glad this exists, hadn't know about it before now.

  • Comment removed

  • can't believe this song is 31 years old. Loved it back in '79 and it is one hell of a rockker.

  • No denying it. Whether you like his later material or not, the man CAN sing his ass off.

  • @angelfox123456 COSIGN !!! yes he sure can :D

  • bruce kulick and michael bolton rocked in this song.

  • Wow! It´s pretty weird for me t see and hear Michael Bolton singing hard rock, but I think he did it very well... I didn´t know he used to sing rock .Seeing this video has made me changed my opinion about him! I liked this version of him rather than the current one

  • awesome!just saw bolton yesterday live in concert.

  • This is Awesome!!! I can't believe this!!! Great Music!!~~~~cb

  • is t just me who hears 'don't go breaking my heart?'

  • @JonnyInfinite I do lol

  • He is clearly so far above the talent of this band. Except maybe Kulick.

  • I don't know...they're all pretty tight musicians. It's the production that sucks. I read in an article Bolton saying that they were really disappointed, because when they played live they were a lot harder-edged.

  • Michael Bolton?

Do you even know who Jimmy Haslip is?

  • @ovatsug345 Haslip is a sick bassist. One of my favorites.

  • They wrote a lot of really good stuff together. Even songs that Blackjack didn't perform--there are a couple that have crept up elsewhere. What they suffered from was incredibly bland production with this band. They had the talent though, that's for sure.

  • Maybe Kulick?? LOL

Try doin research b4 flappin off.

  • HOPPÁ, IT,S GREAT...SUPER

  • This is for you~kisses~

    Tracy
