  • Coach Broz what type of routine is Jacobi doing? You mentioned daily training, would this be squat daily and deadlift and bench every other day?

Great squatting glad JJ is back!

  • Do you always have your lifters squat completely raw? (i.e. no belts) If so I'm curious as to what your reasoning is?

  • i still dont know how having the bar 1-2 inches lower and leaning slightly more forward is drastically different then the high bar squat when it comes to squatting daily. is it that more straining on the body? is broz basically saying hes having JJ squat high bar, just not as low bc of flexility issues? im part of a few active forums and alot of people are curious about brozs thoughts on these things so thats why im asking the source.

  • @rogue8853 I don't know the mechanics behind it, but I think Broz did say somewhere that low bar is more difficult to do every day because it strains the body differently/more.

  • Fantastic squatting, it make my efforts seem pathetic, just a quick question on your squatting reps. Do you only do singles, or do you drop reps like a pyramid scheme?

  • @chriswilson1974 we do both max single and reps, though not in a pyramid fashion

  • 4 months off oly lifting or 4 months off lifting-due to injuries I'm assuming-? That is ridiculous if he hit pr after that long so quickly he could hit some huge squats numbers soon.

  • @desembodic 4 months off from training - because of work and school. No injuries.

  • Squat em' bro.. I need to come out...

  • How long does it take to adapt to daily squatting?

I did dailys last winter, but my squat barely increased. My squat technique improved though, but I didn't get that much stronger I believe. I did my best every day going to max and did at least 3 back off sets.

Nowadays I only squat every other day but I am thinking of going to daily squats... How hard should one push himself on the max effort squat and the following back off sets? As high as you can with perfect form?

  • what's his deadlift now?

  • you guys lift heavy things

  • I second the template!!! i was going to buy a rack, chains, ssb, etc....but all these vids get me fired up. Gonna buy a bumper set and squat stands now.

  • does he ever do the oly lifts?

  • @itsarecession not any longer. His left wrist is fused.

  • @BROZKNOWS this is your chance to make someone into a awesome raw powerlifter, do it!

  • This looks like a low bar squat. I thought you preferred high bar.

  • @Powerbuilding16 It is high bar.

  • @EndlersaurusRex this looks like a low bar to me.. i thought JJ was the powerlifter of the group,

  • @rogue8853 Broz already answered it earlier, it just looks low bar because he's got 3 shirts on.

  • @RandomStevie yeah i saw that. if broz says is high bar then i guess its high bar. i have 2 videos up of high bar vs low bar and theyre terrible examples since im not much of a high bar. but id be very surpised if he conisidered this a high bar and was training a PL in a high bar squat....

  • @rogue8853 If you've seen JJ in his competition videos, he does high bar.

  • @EndlersaurusRex i guess it depends on the defintion of high vs low. i dont know any powerlifter that puts the bar across his shoulder blades. most of us put it on the scapula. some put the bar higher like vashon in his videos. but yes in his other videos hes squatting with the bar high. its confusing bc i asked long ago if his high carried over to his low and broz said no. he might have misunderstood me. JJ seems to lean forward and sit back more which looks like a PL squat

  • Templates! come brozknows we want templates! i looked around for how you guys train and i can't find anything

  • @Bsure12345 Start with this:

every time you think of wanting to be big or strong, go do 10 sets of squats.

  • @BROZKNOWS What kind of repetition scheme should we be looking at with those 10 sets?

  • impressive. very impressive

  • Goddamnit, when do I get to do that. Good lift.

  • I actually decided to give up weightlifting after watching these videos for a year now. I realized I'll never have the potential of these amazing athletes and to call weightlifting my sport is an insult. I'll always love it though!

  • @zodawg0079 From a sign hanging in our gym:

"Winners find a way, Losers say there is no way" - an unknown winner

  • @zodawg0079 Man, don't give up. Everyone starts somewhere. I was a 220lb blob a little more then a year ago and am now up to 500 squat. Get a good diet and good training regiment under you (with proper technique) and it will come. But it will only come if you are hungry for it.

  • I hate him.

  • you guys need to include the height in the vids too

also can you post his Traps routine!

    many thanks

  • What are jjs PRs in bench press and deadlift?

  • @MrMuscleup 210/280 (in kg)

  • Does the knee pain from squatting everyday ever go away if you carry on squatting daily?

  • @MORETHANOVERGROWN if you are doing it correctly.

  • @BROZKNOWS How long would the body take to adapt if you were eating and sleeping to maximise recovery? I've been squatting for about 4 weeks daily so far, and have started supplementing with Fish Oil and Glucosamine/Chronditin if that helps...

  • coach any advice on dealing with a nagging injury (over 1 year) that just won't seem heal? ligament strain in the lumbar area. its getting quite depressing now.

  • @ch3wbacca1991 If that is the correct diagnosis, I would take time (about 2 months) and totally avoid anything that aggravates it. You will have to get creative with your training, but this is part of coaching. Be sure to train opposing muscles - prob lower ab,core, etc.

  • looked liked he had a solid 10-15 more in him. excellent squatting. As for the race to 3x body weight, who is the closest?

  • @watgoatse With him back, it's anybody's guess now. There are 4 in the running, and it's clooooose.

  • I have to ask, so apologies: are the lifters here all natural??

It is tremendous work, beautiful work, great results. If you say it is drug-free, I'll take you at your word. Just need to ask.

  • @expatinasia 100%

  • **lower than the last time. I'm glad there are Powerlifters like him and Kons that don't require any gear to make big lifts.

  • @LexingtonLanePlummer the bar appears to be lower but he had a shirt under his bulky sweatshirt and it is bunched up by his neck. It's about 55-60 in the gym.

  • Awesome lifting. I see he's put the bar a bit

  • Nice lift.

When you say '4 month hiatus' do you mean zero lifting or infrequent/very little lifting?

  • @Cameronnoremac If you count loading boxes at UPS training. Zero.

  • goddammit i want to come to vegas and train.

  • Heres another testominal 4 weeks ago i started squatting 7 days a week ATG i was maxing out at 275 yesterday i just hit a PR of 350! and then dropped to 275 and did 5 reps straight today i deadlifted and i hit 435 for 5 singles another pr unbelievable what the human body can accomplish thanks john broz for setting me on track to breaking all my prs in 2012

  • He's way heavier! Is he going to stay around that weight or will he trim down?

  • @EndlersaurusRex gonna compete at 100kg

  • Was he a powerlifter at one point?

  • Holy fuck . Gary Coleman is back from the dead and he's swole .

  • welcome back JJ. kill it

  • @BROZKNOWS How often do your athletes miss lifts such as the squat?

  • @JordanMitch all the time

  • did he quit powerlifting?

  • @fackshaitcrazy no. There is a meet here in Feb that he is going to compete in

  • @BROZKNOWS Will any of your other lifters compete in it as well, just for fun?

  • @Krappfiskarn funny, it's actually being held in our gym however the Nationals are about 2 weeks later. I don't want to take any unnecessary chances, especially because none of them have benched in about a year.

  • Whats his best clean?

  • good to see a brother.

  • Low bar?

  • man u should put on your website a full week workout template for people interested in training daily...

  • damn strong. props

  • Mr. Broz, I'm a 21 ipf powerlifter and I have a question for you. Your awsome guys make max squat every day but I have no idea how they arrive at the max. With single rep and double rep? and How many set do they have in the 90% - 100% zone? sorry for my bad english. thank you so much for upload video!!

  • Broz, do you believe its important to not look down and check were you feet are after you've walked it out?

  • Hello John, hope you don't mind, my question is not really related to the lifter in the video. Anyway, you said that weightlifters should perform singles rather than doubles/triples for the comp lifts, do you think this applied to powerlifters too? Cheers

  • When the weights dropped at 0:03 i thought that was his back o.o i was like " OH SHIT!"

  • Easy

  • knees buckled in. but i probly shouldnt be talking i couldnt even get that off the rack

  • second

  • STRONG BIOMECHANICAL MOVEMENT IS STRONG

  • Strong! I weigh 105 and squat 220. And I thought that was strong.

  • He looked like he had another 10/20kg in the bank, can't wait to see more of this guy. A contender for the 3x bodyweight squat?

  • Wow nice to see him back!

  • not olympic style but im guessing he's a powerlifter right?

  • helluva lift, but seemed a little high for an ABG squat

  • @TBW92 that's his bottom. Actually it's much better than it was.

  • Hey John, I know I have posted this question before, but perhaps it got lost in the sea of similar questions you are asked. If you could give me the top 3-5 tips for a great high bar squat, what would they be? Regards from an aspiring 18 year old lifter.

  • strong lift
