Then I put the stock air filter back on and I was in disbelief at how much quicker my car was. Get a proper cold air intake people
The intake on this car most likely reduces HP compared to the stock intake, you are drawing in hot air, the charge is less dense than a true cold air intake.
If i was gonna change that in any way all id do is run it so the filter is closer to the road, yes it will pick up more shit but the air down there is colder, also gotta watch out for puddles more after you do that haha.
also in the way of heat shielding, that PVC would be a pretty good heat shield by itself (cause its so thick) but if you wanted a cheap and easy way to sheld it a little more, put either a cheap home insulator around it (duct tape it on, do whatever you gotta do) Cont.
@watsdissniffinere you wont have to worry about it trapping water because its not wrapped around metal, the other (slightly more expensive but better looking option) would be exhaust heat wraps... same deal, no need to worry about it trapping water and itll cost you stuff all to do :)

@aaminjoshi91 Use cardboard for stencils, make one out of cardboard and tape/glue. then use them as stencils on sheetmetal, and cut them out, and make sure you make screw holes and make sure everythings air tight with some DAP silicone.
Thats a SAI. or short ir intake, a CAI draws engines from somewhere other than the engine bay. SAI uses hot air from the engine bay and produces less power than a CAI. Still good idea, cheap, look decent, only thing is plastic is rought inside unlike alloy and will decrease the speed of the air going in, so u will lose a fell horses, other than that its ok.

@snake1921 All air intakes that I have seen enter the engine from the top. I prefer a plastic tubing over metal tubing that channels the air into the engine. Ram air is bring air from outside the engine compartment which is better than inside the engine compartment. A heat shield sounds good, but usually a heat shield is to protect from a really hot source that is sitting right next to a sensitive component rather than insulating something entirely. But I assume its a value add anyway.
Well PCV might have a high melt point, but it has a low softening point. In some cases 175*F. Which means that stuff is getting soft as hell just driving around. Just so you at the melting point PVC emits Chlorine gas (poly-vinyl-CHLORIDE) which is VERY bad for you. When chlorine gas interacts with the moisture and tissues in your longs it converts to hydrochloric acid. YUP nasty stuff.

its WAI set up... Ram Air involves the intake extending to the very front of the car (through the bumper) where cold air is forced into the intake, due to the car moving.

then it would be the same idea as nitroux oxide. helluva lot more power, but if u calculate the amount of oxygen ud need, ur gonna realize its a bad idea overall. my daily driver, a 1.9L inline4, uses up 168 cubic feet of air per minute at high-ish engine speeds. any real car will use up at least twice that amount.

yes very true. and another sad thing is that . when adding these intakes. without altering fuel it always kills bottom end and mid range. . my 3.1 at sunbird. stock would fry tires. put a intake on it. and it would not . a little chirp. now i stuck a set of larger fuel injectors ( junk yard $10 i paid off 305 tpi) and it ran STRONG a vtec eating machine.

hmm...i see ur point...my car responded surprisingly well to my intake. id actually go as far as to say that middle torque got the biggest boost. however, im planning on improving on that, which means i may need new injectors.

A sunbird? lol what vtec are you eating the parked ones? a 3.1 litre sunbird the same engine in the z24 Produces 180lb/ft torque sure, but a laughable 127HP. Which means every Vtec machine alive already beats its ass. Everyone knows a sunbird can't get out of it's own way going down hill with a a tail wind. I've Owned 3 Different models. The 2.0 SE the 2.0GT turbo, and the 3.1 as well as my Ex wife's '90 z24. The 2.0GT turbo beat them all with the z24 being second. Sunbird top speed 85mph.

Makes me laugh that you guys think all American cars "suck". Take your riced out Accord, and rev your motor next to an 04 Ford Mustang Cobra. 390rwhp in stock trim. And most of 'em aren't stock. And no, little Accord boy. Unless you got a twin turbo V-8 in your stupid Hon-DUH, then you aren't gonna beat a VR4. I think the 1.8 comment was talking about a VW. They have VR6's, but VR4 is the most ridiculous Mitsubishi out there...Evo's will get STOMPED by these, with VERY few modifications....

I'll spend HALF and get TWICE the HP. 1/3 of the power to move the car? Crapcord isn't much lighter. Cobra 3114lbs, 01 Accord 2943lbs. 08 Accord 3230. I'm sure the ones in between are about the same. 390 is better than 240. Go to google and type in 03-04 Mustang Cobra specs. Then read it, and learn something about a REAL car. And good luck beating 1 in ur HONDUH!

well, ask any car enthusiast, all american manufactured and based cars SUCK. and not all accords are ricey, it becomes ricey by the choice of the person, its not rice when it comes straight from the factory, whereas all american cars SUCK straight from the factory, a person makes a car rice, BUT chevy makes its car SUCK, the driver doesnt do anything, therefore not all accords are rice.
