It's late '11 & I'm STILL diggin' this tune forever! Thanks for the post. Being a fan of Cale, Knopfler and CCR I see the parallels here. Like it? You MUST check out Little Village's "She Runs Hot For Me" here on the tube. Lowe, John Hiatt, Ry Cooder and Jim Keltner just tearing it up.
Am i noticing Paul Carrack in the "raging eyes" video? These guys are SOOO full of win. Why did i have to be born in america in the 90's when i could have been born in in the UK in the 60's?
I saw Rockpile in a dingy dark little club venue in Houston back in 78 or 79. My guy friends wanted to stay and talk to the band and I was a 17 yo (under-age) and was smitten with Nick. Dave was super charming, hung out and chatted and even went out back for a smoke with us after the gig. Nick was stand-offish, which both disappointed and was a relief to me. I wouldn't have been able to get 2 coherent words out of my mouth. Still a bit smitten by the way. :)
I think these two videos shows what a great band Rockpile was. Cracking up is timeless while Raging Eyes has a BIG timestamp stating mid-80's and is, to be honest, not very exciting today.
The four "Rockpile records" Edmunds & Lowe recorded really stands out in their catalogues.
Rockpile: Fabulous Band: Nick Lowe - bass, vocals, Dave Edmunds - guitar, vocals, Terry Williams - drums, Billy Bremner - guitar, vocals. Saw Nick Lowe Fall of 2010 in Toronto. You still have it, Mr. Lowe - keep on rockin' !!!
This song causes Beergasms in dark bars when it screamin sunshine outdoors.

I loved this tune as a teenager, reminds me of the great pub rock days, Dr Feelgood, Wilko Johnson, etc. Real musicians, real music.

I drove my roommates crazy with playing this album nonstop in 1979 or 80. Great album all the way through. Why did they disband?

I honestly prefer Tele to Strat, that one reminds me of some of the darkest moments in music history.

@1ndi64 His looks here go exactly hand in hand with the mood of the song (not happy and worn-out looking). Amazing!
