I own a Samsung WB5000 and yes the noise is the zoom motor, earlier Samsung and Fujifilm zoomz used to cut the sound out completely as i recall, i always video by not using the zoom unless really needed or use back ground music.
Was the zoom noise a sound effect :-) or actually the noise if the zoom motor? :-( if latter there's no point in using it for film with audio embedded.
If it is an effect do take it off please, as it does the camera no retail favours.
On the positive side, what a stunning steady-cam zoom though.
hi. i was actually thinking of buying the new sony cybershot TX7. i thought i wanted a sleek handy digital camera. then i read about this one. the zoom is really great. what can you advise me? you think it's even better than the Tx7? i know it's cheaper !!

Na ja, der Stabi arbeitet im Videomodus nur elektronisch, der optische Stabi geht nur für Fotos. Ich finde, nach einer kurzen Recherche stellt sich die WB5000 rasch als Enttäuschung heraus. Eigentlich auf dem Papier gar nicht so schlecht: RAW-Aufnahme, HD-Videos mit Stereo, Weitwinkel. Aber dann sowas? Na ja.
