I'm confused. In A New Hope Jabba looks rather more CGI than this one. Totally different look. Was NH Jabba doctored after CGI came out? Also the hairy guy singing, he didn't look like a puppet, he looked cartoon/CGI. Was he?

@helixrose44 Yup. Jabba the Hutt in NH was CGI for the 1997 re release and every re release since. In the original scene, beleive it or not, Jabba was a fat man.

@helixrose44 They added them in the special edition set that came out in the late 90's. The scene with Jabba in a New Hope was originally a deleted scene that was added back in with the special edition, but Jabba was a human in that scene so they put in a CGI version of him instead.

Jabba's eyes opened wide in fear as he was abruptly awoken to find a Jedi in his presence; but then he relaxed after realizing the Jedi was young and probably not yet fully trained. Jabba had some knowledge of the Jedi and their ways; he knew the Jedi could coerce weak minded people with a mind trick and he knew his mind was strong enough to resist a young Jedi. Also, the foolish young Jedi was standing on the trapdoor to the Rancor which not only relaxed Jabba further, but made him confident.
