  • good for him I'm glad I got nothing to do with this guy and his copter

  • that fat motherfuka in that lil Bitty ass shit... wtf

  • u can fit it in ur backyard haha

  • Great piloting skills - nice hover and slow pirouette.

These things have a very bad safety record. Factory parts weren't high enough quality and there were some serious mechanical design flaws. Hopefully you've got all that fixed. No reason why a Mini-500 can't be made into a safe and solid rotor craft - but unfortunately most are not.

The APU conversion is probably a necessity also - the stock 2-stroke was barely able to get the thing off the ground.

  • I stand to be corrected, but isnt it a piston design origionally?

  • very dangerous machine... I don't recommend you to fly it... few good pilots died

because of its bad design. It is a stolen copy of the CH-6 made by Cicare in

    Argentina

  • Very nice mini-copter ! How much did the helicopter cost including all the extra work you had done ?

  • is it air legal?

  • @xUNKNOWNxAC94 Idk about this model but usually if it has the word "ultralight" its legal. hope that helps any

  • @HackLover007 thanks

  • Wow, am I jealous! I love this video....good luck!!!

  • 80s training video music

  • Does this thing use Jet-A fuel or just gasoline? How many gallons per hour (or lbs per hour).

  • Nice control!!!

  • I NEED ONE

  • I have the lisence but I'm saving up for one, just a couple hundred left!

  • Jeez you guys! He is just happy because he has his first helicopter! Good for him. If any of us had a license and the ability to buy and rebuild one, we would look the same way he does in this video! Stay safe buddy...

  • These are now back in production and i will be making the rotor blades for this helicopter. this is a nice machine.

  • hey looks like a clown

  • how would you look standing in front of your first own helicopter?

  • he's actually amusing

why does everybody hates him and calls him names ?

  • I don't know either. The dude OWNS a turbine helo.....Did I say T-U-R-B-I-N-E? Yes, he owns it and most of us can't affford to FLY one......I don't care for the recips but, ya take what you can get and train for the worst and hope ya fly during the rest.

  • because they just jealous, thatswhy they be calling names on Giovani. hahaa

  • Such a dork!

  • yes.....i agree

  • did it need a laisen and how much it cust???

  • Yes you need a license and they do not make them anymore. You can still find them on used aircraft websites such as vortechonline . com /specials

They stopped production in the late 1990's because of a lawsuit. They sell for around $11,000 usd to $25,000 usd ready to fly. I hope this helps

  • This sis probably the best Mini 500 Ive ever seen, with the turbine engine is great.

  • pussy get up in the freaking sky!!!!!!!!!!

  • thats pretty kick-ass

  • i wud have took the fuck off in that shit u went like 5 feet

  • mount some bb guns on that thing and give the neighborhood kids hell!

  • come on man, at least do your flight inspection on film.

  • i want one be so cool

  • why dont you fly higher? it was only a hover?

  • well may be its not ready to fly high and may be its not safe at mo to fly high does not look safe to me

  • When I win the lottery gonna get one !

  • but if u win the 1millin dollar lottery u only get half becuase the ofther half goes to taxes

  • I'm talkin like 28 or 30 million but its never gonna happen anyway. Just dreamin.

  • when the economy collapses soon, i wish i would have something like this to get around

  • y that?

  • You won't have a pot to piss in my friend. Better hope you have a roof under your head.

  • Well guess what whiner? This is AMERICA-with some brains and ambition, you too could have all you see in this video. And, I'll bet this guy gives more to charity than you whiners make in a year! I love it! I want one of these too... My Dad was a life-long helicopter pilot; he landed full size Hughes 500's at our house. We had a huge back yard! More poer to you guy!

  • hurm...my father had one of these, it had the rotax engine in it though, the thing that scared me about it was the tail rotor was belt driven lol glad it was a one seater :)

  • Just cause he has more success then you doesent mean you should hate him if you were in hus situation i doubt you would send money to charity

  • Don't leave out the huge property he has. It's called GET A JOB!!!

  • how do you know he doesn't give to charity?

  • oooh um1 povo haha dude, thats low, why bitch abt some1 havin more than u, thats low.

i bet u want him to donate to some stupid african charity, i lived there, they dont need the help and the money never gets to them anyway.

oh well, i supose u have to have those who bitch abt stuff. no worries!

  • i want one!

  • noob hes just test flying it so he can get the feel for it... not like hes gona take it for a fly on his first flight... lol

  • Your neighbors must love you.

  • hahahahaha it is a jet too

  • hands clipping , good job , funny talking tho.

  • oh its quite possible that if you have the experience and know what youre doing you could make the required changes to make these safer, but step by step from the plans sold is a death trap... i want to get a scorpion II, i believe its an old rotorway design, and i love the open framework with the enclosed 2 seat cockpit

  • this company went out of business for faulty design, and plans consisted of substandard materials, many people died in these due to the "cutting corners" if its designers

  • Hi there! Can you be a bit more specific as to

exactly how many people died as a result of any design flaws in this aircraft? I was not aware that the company went out of business due to faulty designs, rather than perhaps poor management and product support. I have 2 friends that built these and have had no major issues to contend with thus far. Is it possible that some of the people that bought these as kits and were not trained pilots/mechanics and got killed through stupidity? Ya think?

  • I suppose hi's dope!

    So funny when speaking ....

  • Where's the Rotty .... ???

  • Good Job.

  • how come i saw no swatchplate

  • Did you spot a HUMMER near to garage?#

    He might be reach!

  • Naaaaa just in debt up to his eye balls

  • wait....these things only cost $1,000-ish US???

  • I'd say a bit more than that...

  • YOUR SERIOUS?!?!

for less than the price of a car you can have a premade ready to fly helicopter??!?!!!

    that just blows my mind!

  • i just checked there site. its not 1000 us dollars. its 100,000 us dollars

  • As is worth a mini-500 in €uros?

  • how much would this all cost, or where could i buy one just like this one?

  • Would love to have been able to hear what he was saying over the DAMB MUSIC

  • why does everybody seem to hate this guy? what do i not know?

  • you're funny dude..love your heli! :)

  • Well Joe Rinke, I am not a liar, I looked at the damage after it fell due to a loose belt, The same problem I experienced at your shop. Now once again you are making the facts a personal issue by calling me a liar.

I am now rated in the R22, R44 + 300CBI so you can have the mini. It is a fun toy and people can learn alot from building and hovering one. Do you even have a valid helicopter airmans license? you told me you did so who is the liar.

  • micheal palin?

  • So, why don't you take some of your ugly comments and use them where they will do some good. Like protecting other people from getting ripped off by people like him, "Rick Stitt"...

  • It sounds to me like some of you need to grow up. Didn't your parents ever teach you that if you don't have anything good to say you should not say anything at all. And as far as Richard Runk or should I say rr4298s comment. You are a liar, This aircraft has never hit the ground... this aircraft was put back into service after Rick Stitt or should I say liberty technologies had damaged the aircraft and ripped the customer off to the point of no return like has done to hundreds of people.

  • 1:58 - 4:07 is the time he takes to take off....

  • Dats STupID!! u DIDNT EVEN weNt nOWERE!!!wOW!!lol DATS SOOO reALLY GAY!

  • Can someboy shut down the vacum cleaner running in the background?

  • I'm wondering if this is an APU turbine and if so, what sort it is... The Helicycle uses a T-62 Solar turbine, but I've read worrying reports about other APU types which are designed to only operate for extended periods at just a handful of fixed RPMs. Supposedly some APU turbines will self-destruct at certain RPM ranges below (and above) nominal..

  • bit of advice, stick to your car,id rather jump off a sky scraper with an umbrella than trust that thing

  • SERIOUSLY BAD HAIR PIECE.

  • A flying death trap.

  • dude you must rich you have a hummmer you live in a nice neighborhood and you flew your fucking helicopter around it! lol

  • Nice restore..pickup was a bit fast...but nice setdown.

  • well dome man. Nice restore job to.

-birddoggarton- guy ur a fucking dick

  • you gunna move your neck anymore? i think its broken

  • he must be fuckin rich

  • my neck hurts just looking at this guy move his head so much, nice little choper do.

  • That must be such a rush a killer toy for sure. Smart guy doesn't take any chances before another inspection. It is weird how technology can't seem to get around the heli safety issue.

  • thats some anoying sound it makes though!

  • Turbine.

  • No flight plan needed for that one, eh?

  • Good job turning that total POS into a decent Rotorcraft. But, I have to wonder if it wouldn't have been a lot easier to just buy a Schramm Helicycle kit. But maybe you got it cheap. Mini 500's have killed so many people that they are basically worthless.

  • great job with the restore. looks great.

  • p(_)ss1e....why didnt you fly like an eagle...f(_)ckwad

  • Hey man, take off the dang training wheels and fly the thing

  • Hey man, Flying is nothing..............Hovering is everything. Of cousre you will probably never know or ever find out.

  • I think tat2chance is right, so many trees nearby, love the heli, hate the cheesy porn movie music, and Joe talks like a retard, greets!

  • Dennis? Joe? Who's flying this thing anyway? But good job turning Dennis Fetters' deathtrap into a real helicopter.

  • looks fun

  • today some bum found a can of corn in the dumpster behind a foodmart and had the same amount of serotonin released in his brain as this guy had form flying a homebuilt helicopter. Fun is relative. NIce chopper.

  • RIP Dennis 1949-2006

  • dont fly over 500 feet the faa will arrest you or something

  • Tat your a twat, I thinkI hear your fat wife calling

  • Always good to fly heli's in close proximity to trees, vehicles and houses....It's guys like this that make the FAA give everyone a hard time! A lil' common sense goes a long way. Get that tail rotor jus a lil' bit closer to that Hummer will ya? Nice helo, bad location!

  • tat your an idiot with no depth perception. he's a good 40-50 feet away.

    Very cool bird

  • wtf is up with it being sped up?

  • At least it wasn't a robinson R22 death trap.

  • you obviously don't know what you're on about.

  • er yes, how many helicopters have to have SFAR's made for them ? Carb heat, low inertia rotor system, low g, mast bumping, poor high DA performance, let alone the t-bar cyclic...

  • If you think this is better engineered than the most popular budget heli of recent decades, perhaps this is your first encounter. The company's very name-RHCI-seems to beg some sort of association with Robinson. yarchive net /air/mini500.html

Flaw 1 of many? You can't auto-rotate safely. As a cheap fix to a nose-high cruise attitude, it uses the h.stab to deflect the nose up, creating a fatal uncommanded "tuck" maneuver on loss of rotor downwash at speed.

I'd fly R22 or build Rotorway any day.

  • The SFAR only backs up the fact that Frank wants his customers to be safe in the hands of his helicopters. To be quite honest, I think its a very good idea. You clearly don't appreciate how dangerous helicopters are.

Most people who don't like robinsons do so because they can't afford one. So they buy Rotorway(getting better, but still built in sheds), mini 500 (cool but crap) or Schweizer 300c (crap).

Carb heat is sensible too jackass.

  • Carb isn't sensible, its a necessity on a carb engine used in aviation.

As to appreciating how dangerous helicopters are I fly them for a job...

I agree the sfar is a good idea, but the robinson should of never been a training helicopter, as for the 300c being crap, obviously the us army made the mistake of traing their pilots for twenty years plusin them, Last time i went to rucker I didn't see a ramp full of robinsons...

  • Robinson never set out to build a training machine. People adopted them as trainers because of low running costs and a reliable service program. The R22 is an entry level helicopter, not a trainer.

Hence, Frank says that you shouldn't take anyone in your helicopter until you have 400hours P1.

Robinson simply cornered the market in terms of reliability, performance and cost when compared with other manufacturers. It never set out to make a trainer.

The US use 300c because they are

  • more forgiving than the R22. The US also don't have to think about budget.

  • I agree and have spoken to frank about this, the use as a training helicopter purely comes down to cost.

As for the 300cbi/TH55, the us army stopped using them some while ago.

The 300cbi is a much better training platfrom, more costly to run and slower but much more survivable.

As for budget factor in the 2000hr rebuild on an R22.

  • Sweet!!! Turbine Engine

  • Lordy the crap some idjits say in these comments!

Nice chopper - want one. But I thought these had a normal petrol engine...did you stick the turbine in yourself...?

  • This is an accident waiting to happen.

  • i cant wait for the future!

  • Excellent work, truly a sharp looking machine. Taoistflyer is right, his expressions are priceless.

  • chicken ....why you dident fly up to the sky and make an 360 heheh??

  • Thats not Dennis and the ship never flew. This is a hover video. Eye witness reports say this mini fell from the sky the first time it was hovered at the home airport.

  • Wow well done! Ha, that thing looks crazy sensitive. I like the color choice and the seat looks awesome. What's the cruise speed on that thing?

  • lovely, sounds like turbo engine, is it?

  • Yes Rustiz, it is a Turbine engine of 115 shp!

  • Very sweet, that certainly is a well built machine. I really love the smile on your face as you describe the work you did to it.
