Consider this: you pay taxes regardless what others decide they go for. Just now - the party that SAYS they want to get government out of our faces, have decided that public broadcasting is not to THEIR liking, so they're withdrawing your tax dollars to MAKE them wither & possibly die. They've taken away your choice twice over.
So... this pledge season... keep in mind: Your donations to your local PBS and NPR stations are tax-deductible. Take your choice BACK.
Ken Burns is an amazing person. The documentaries he provides the American & basically the world's people are astonishing. The level of detail, cinematography involving old pictures, is bar none the best I've seen from anyone. I support Ken and his colleagues. And this budget bill to cut PBS funding is appalling. It is not only illogical, as public educational programming is good for you, it is rude and inappropriate to the fine Americans that have come before us. Their stories must be heard.
@KlingonSpider I agree on all points! Big fan of Ken Burns, I hope he makes many more documentaries.
Also his brother Ric Burns made an excellent documentary series on Native Americans called 'we shall remain' (also aired on PBS, naturally.) Best channel on TV for sure
