Alright, everyone who is bashing this song the way that this choir did it, it's all up to interpretation. The choir director has the right to change the song slightly to their liking. If they believe that slowing it down is the right thing to do, they aren't wrong, it's just how they interperate it.

And to people who are singing it in JR.High, I did too, but this year I'm singing it in High School as well. It's versatile.

They did an amazing job regaurdless of whatever you're all saying.

This is honestly, not very good. This is supposed to be performed in an African/Swahili style, not a chamber choir. The chords may sound nice, but you're not supposed to hold them out that long. Try watching videos like "Hangad: O Sifuni Mungu (July 8, 2007)" for the right way.

It was funny, we sang this song in choir in high school, and then when I moved on to college and joined the choir, the director picked this song! He was blown away when he passed out the music and before he got to me I started singing it LOL I was miffed when most people in my college choir were complaining that they just couldn't learn another language, this was going to be too hard, etc. I told them to suck it up and offered to work with them all on the words. Your harmonies are nice at the beginning of the piece. You are really listening to each other. I prefer the a cappella work on this to the rest of the piece, really. It's well done. Maybe a little trouble trying to sing "over" piano and percussion, but hey, you're a small group and it's a loud piece! Lots of fun too, huh? (I sang this a few years ago)
