The method that I use with my dog is to let him get excited and chase him. After you've fooled them into thinking it's a game you can run from them so when they try to catch you there is an opportunity to get a hold of the collar.

Throw a treat at a dog, and they will go for it.

Yeah, this works for about 1 in every 50 dogs.

Try giving us a video of catching a newly-bought puppy.

Or maybe a dog who pushed the front door open, purposefully trying to leave the home.

Yeah, this won't work in those situations.

@xPoptartt it works on my german shepeard. but then again ive somewat trained him. its been pretty hard having him loose nd him following me but know i think he gets it :)

@coCHINO691 The thing is, though, that this is not how to CATCH A DOG. This is how to call a dog back to you once you think it should not be off the leash anymore.

@xPoptartt yup your totally right. look. this is what i did with my german shepeard. take him for an atleast 30 min walk everyday (preferably more) and give him the least leash posible walk him right next your side allways away from the street.walk him there even if he wants to run around after ever 20 steps say "stop" make him stop then say "sit" make him sit (use force push down on him a lil) then after a bit say "lets go"nd start walking keep doing that threw the whole walk nd in no time u ..

@coCHINO691 Yeah, I know. I just know that most people keep their dogs on the leash and right by their side, because that's where they're supposed to be.

@xPoptartt well actually not really your dog needs to have its freedom too. when i walk mines he can be way infront of me cuz i know he wont attack other dogs anymore unless he feels attackes nd he wont attack people unless they attack him or me or my property.

@xPoptartt will be able to walk him leash-less. this is so hell get the idea that he is allways soppouse to stay near you nd aways form streets. also he might be an energetic dog wich will take more time but make sure u take him to the dog area on the park and sore him out. this is also so hell learn hes basic commands
