Paparazzi in this country have been successfully sued for harassment and physical actions against them have been excused in courts of law as being understandable reactions to extreme provocation. The point isn't "without permission" the point is "after a reasonable request to stop" and often in investigative tele-journalism filming does stop at this point, or faces are blurred on publication to protect privacy. This instance couldn't be defined as public interest, and to broadcast as is is wrong

It is my opinion that most cops do their best most of the time. You/your friend in the video obviously reached out to the cop. What is considered to be assault in one state may not be considered assault in another state. For example, one state may consider yelling a racial slur as assault; another state may not.

@narutokage12345: Well there is two reasons actually the first being that people have made false claims against Protesters saying that they had done all sorts of things that simply wasn't true I even had it happen to me fortunately I was filming at the time.
Secondly I personally do it so as to hold them publically accountable for their actions. It's easy to sneak away some afternoon and do the dirty deed but if I am around it isn't!

how is this published? i highly doubt she gave permission for it to be published, and her face isn't blurred. Unless you work for the government, people still have a right to privacy. unless they are possible criminals,lol. gotta love the government screwing us. And this guy's crazy. Paparazzi in this country have been successfully sued for harassment and physical actions against them have been excused in courts of law as being understandable reactions to extreme provocation. The point isn't "without permission" the point is "after a reasonable request to stop" and often in investigative tele-journalism filming does stop at this point, or faces are blurred on publication to protect privacy. This instance couldn't be defined as public interest, and to broadcast as is is wrong

@lo2enge: I actually just investigated your (Kate Middleton / Niraj Tanna) case and the Woman had actually gained access to private property under false pretenses and this was all around Christmas of last year although the suit was filed in January it has apparently been dropped. Of course someone trespassing on private property while perusing a specific intended target is far different than filming unknown people on a public street especially when they are the ones approaching you.

Also, unless she caused physical or emotional trauma or criminal damage she has not broken the law, merely acted in self-defence against a clearly hostile action on the part of the two twats doing the filming.

@ConservativeAtheist Yes, it was still self-defence because their hostile act was being perpetrated at a distance, and in order to take preventative measures she had to close the distance. A hostile act doesn't necessarily involve physical contact, and whining that someone touching one's property is a criminal act is pathetic in the extreme, especially when the harmful intent of their actions is considered. What crime do you believe she actually committed?

If you touch someone or try and take something touch something they are holding on to in a violent unwanted manner you are committing a physical assault and again if the roles were reversed you would agree. Hell you think Video Recordings are an Assault but actual physical contact isn't?!?

@lo2enge: I think you need to get a better grasp of the English Language and Reality as well. Assault is where someone comes after you and battery is the actual physical touching and she committed both while they did neither.
Nothing they did was illegal. I record people but I never get confronted by anyone in a physical way but then again I am a giant!

Pushing someone's camera aside is battery? I'm very glad you're not a judge. In many countries recording someone without their permission is a criminal offence, and for good reason. Using minimal physical intervention to prevent this is reasonable self-defence, and to cry "assault and battery" at this very reasonable reaction is utterly egregious.

Yes you are absolutely right in some countries showing the faces of Children without parental permission is illegal but not pictures of adults. Oh and you are right if someone is invading your personal space with a Camera then yes you can brush it aside out of your face but no you can't run across a street after a person filming from a distance and make physical contact

She asked them to desist, and to refuse and to continue to film after this could (and in court, would by a competent lawyer) be defined as aggressive, falling under the definition of harassment. If these two buggers attempted to sue this woman here they would not only be laughed out of court, but would likely also face a counter-charges.
