  • Rest In Peace "Bessie Smith"

  • @smallman727 he is definitely getting into it, and i'm all about getting into the music, but norah could've scored a better drummer than this guy. he's not bad, just not good enough to be on a concert DVD with a lovely singer/songwriter/performer such as Norah Jones.

  • Semplicemente stupenda...<3

  • This is from LIVE IN NEW ORLEANS, what a magical DVD that is. I still recall the first time i ever watched that and was flabbergasted by how talented Norah and her band [at the time] was. Oh, for the handsome band, Norah just ain't quite been the same since they parted company. She is still who she is...but they were all such a great group. This song shows that.

  • demasiado buena esta cancion, que voz diosss.... sin palabras....

  • Was reasonable until the drummer kicked in.

  • Sitar playing "Ravi Shankar's) daughter!!!

    Gary Holt

  • Deliciosa como sempre...

  • Their should be a Norah Jones for every man on earth, so we don't have to fight over her :-)

  • I love Norah Jones you're the best.

  • somebody can write what she says in the begin of music.

  • @rogacianopaz translate or just write in english??

  • This is good stuff/

  • She's not from this world.

  • SUBLIME NORAH JONES

  • Thats one talented Lady,to sing with such great artists, shows her own class.

Norah Jones..has my heart to her music.

  • what about the drummer? he gives great ritmic colors the the soundscape of this live version

  • i would tell that guitar-player to relax too when he's playing his solo.

  • @matteewik When you sound that good, you can look however you damn well want.

  • @botticelli51 well, i just think he looks a bit tense, and it's such a soft and "cool" song. I know a lot of drummers so, why do you care? It's funny. I'm not saying he's bad, just that it looks funny.

  • @matteewik it's not looking tense, it's feeling it. You don't play anything do you? =)

  • @ozzyrox actually, i do, and i'm studying music. I don't saying it's something wrong, and yes, he does look tense. I'm sure i look really really ugly when I'm singing. I play the guitar and the piano, and I sing. I can play a bit drums, and bass. So yes. I play a lot of music.

  • such a lovely voice.

  • the Lady sure is a star talented artist

  • Linda!

  • this is not the official video...just so? you know. :) get the full album from downloadmusic.im

  • SUBLIME NORAH

  • Perfection!

  • Wow, she really amazes me every time she does these performances. She is such a great singer!

  • god bless norah!!so beautiful voice!!so priceless moment to see!!!

  • It's just a matter of preference but I like the Band's version better.

  • she does it better than the band

  • she does it better than the band

  • don't understanding 'bout hater

    WHY Them HATE her??????

  • I do think that is wurlitzer piano

  • It's nice to see young musicians appreciate the unique sound of the classic Rhodes piano.

  • Norahhh eres una MUJER IN-CREIBLEEEEEEEEEEEE

  • the drummer is feelin it, let him do his thing!

  • I love the videos that have close-ups of her beautiful face.

  • one of the very, VERY few talented musicians to have become popular in the past few years, and with such great music at that

  • i wished she had recored this, i love bob dylan's version of this but i LOVE norah jones' version!!!!!

  • I am just waiting for her to do Whispering Pines some day. Another The Band gem.

  • HA UNA VOCE SEMPLICEMENTE STUPENDA ;-))))

  • this is what good musicians sound like when they do what they do best!

  • sorry, but this song is killing me D:::::

  • sorry, but this song is killing me D:::::

  • She nailed this old 60s song

  • This song from the New Orleans live dvd is sublime. I remember getting the dvd in 2003 and had been seeking it for a while, i was so stoked when i got this.

  • NORAH JONES...YOU ARE AMAZING! :)

  • the more i watch this, the more that guitar guy creeps me out...she needs a new band! haha

  • dam, awesome song!!

  • yes the drummer is a little too much --

  • she likes FISH

  • shes hot! Is she a lessbian like Bessie Smith?? lol

  • i take back my comment, there is talent out there today!

  • no need for a drummer when she has such a great voice...

  • Spellbinding eyes, mezmerizing and haunting voice.

  • Just love the Jazz faces of the guitarist and drummer from 2:25, awesome :)

  • Good musician obviously, but what are you people writing? haha. Do you speak like this?

Dorks ruin good stuff by talking like dorks. Beauty beauty beauty!!!

  • @GeorgeCassells Hi GeorgeCassells! This isn't The New Yorker or some "highbrow" literary convention. Should people who do not meet your standards for proper communication just shut up? I suppose I should "clam up" too? Hmmm....best advice I'll heard all day! Cheers! :+)

  • ... The drummer plays very loud or maybe it's me? It's hard to hear the other instruments, especially the keyboard

  • @DandyBlues Bessie Smith??? Gimme a pigfoot!!

  • How lovely~~~Norah is The Fairest Princess in the land.

  • she is gorgeous.. and she has a beautiful melodious voice that wraps around my head and takes me up to lay on clouds

  • Norah seems somewhat unaware of

how fine a singer she is, and what

    a lovely woman too.

  • to bad people know a days hardly remember Bessie Smith

  • she is really good

  • Danko and Robertson sang this on the Basement tapes. Robbie on the bottom and Rick singing high harmony.

  • Actually, it was Robertson. Unusual, but true.

  • actually it was richard and robbie. what you hear in the original is richard on top singing in his flawless falsetto and robbie down below. if you ask me richard is the main voice in this number. i don't know why robbie is even singing in this song as it was rick who wrote it.

  • @robbietancred It's actually one of the few songs where Robbie's voice fits really well. Other examples are "Ain't No More Cane on the Brazo" and "To Kingdom Come". His voice wasn't great, but it worked for a few select songs.

  • Oh man, in love now!

    )o,O(

  • My Name is Bessie. I was named after her. This is my great great great grandmother! I am named Bessie Jayce Smith

  • that's so cool. and it's great to see an extremely talented artist perform a tribute to another extremely talented artist.

  • How old does that make you?

  • @missthing807 you'sa damn lie!!

  • @mulattiq IT IS TRUE. FINE YOU TELL ME HOW SHE DIES HUH?

  • shark attack

  • GOD DAMN gooood song...never heard this song b4 but i can totally hear robbie singing this...norah jones is fuckin awesome isnt she?

  • and rick.

  • @Horwitz86

Actually, I believe Richard Manuel sang this...

Robbie didn't sing very much with the band...

  • Lovely, lovely, lovely SWEET!! I could listen to her all day!

  • Has cambiado tu imagen, música, y te has rodeado de nuevos músicos, pero por favor Norah, no cambies nunca tu forma de ser xk eso y tu preciosa voz te hacen única

  • ...my favorite song! <3 i like it very much, especially the intro with the wurlitzer! she is so great on this beautiful instrument (combined with her voice & expression! (...and yes Andre, me too!)

  • what an awesome cover

  • love to watch the guitarist and the drummer expression from 2:23

  • LOL @ AndreDeLong02

     nicely spotted :D

Nora is on top form <3

  • Wonderful

  • como me hace llorar esta mina !

  • Toll dass sich ein Talent an B. Smith erinnert.

Der Drummer sollte sparsamer betonen. Er ist allein back

  • She's so talented and simply beautiful! Saw her live last year and she's better live than recorded. Love her! :o)

  • Purpledude603 and brelfan have got it exactly right. Beauty, talent and class. Wow...

  • tell that drummer to relax.

  • @nickd444 I hear ya man lol, guy has to get a bit more laid back.......

  • @nickd444 lulz

  • @nickd444 just what i was thinking about

  • @nickd444 He is mimicking Levon Helm's style. Probably just trying to pay a little homage to The Band.

  • Super talented and the most beautiful woman alive, no doubt about it !!

  • Anyone noticed that this girl is ridiculously pretty, even for the video generation of singers? And she's got style and talent. And somehow, she's not really big. Too much class?

  • it's a wurlitzer 100a - and Robbie Robertson wrote it - I think.

  • danko-robertson

  • simply amazing

  • fascinante!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Great version.Beautiful lady.

  • It's a wurlitzer I think.

  • fender rhodes?

  • It's so beautiful. and the organ just gives it that little bit extra :)

  • It really is, in the original version the organ solo blew my fuckin mind!!!

  • Me to!!!!!

  • Bob Dylan and the band, basement tapes, 1975

  • or off of the reissued 'Cahoots' album.

  • So dylan does sing on the original!!! Did he write it?

  • Que bien canta esta mujer carallo!!!

Se me ponen los pelos de punta!!!

  • The band sounds good. Very tasteful drumming and guitar solo.

  • I have new respect for Ms. Norah Jones for her impeccable taste in performing this beautiful yet obscure tune by the Band.

  • Ever heard a voice so beautiful that it just moves you to tears every time you hear it? I cant listen to Norah Jones in public. Too embarassing...uhh for me. Any way fantastic stuff. So much soul in such a tiny body.

  • soy colombiano, pero hasta aqui llega tu musica... Tienes una voz encantadora y unas letras bellisimas...Gracias Norah

I´m colombian, but here we also listen to your music. I think that you have a lovely voice an so beautiful letters. Thanks Norah

PD: sorry for my english. it´s so bad

  • Norah Jones live in New Orleans, DVD

    nice

I have beens search for a recording of this song for IPOD or a CD version. But never succeeded. She should have put it in her 2nd or 3rd CD... no brainer.

  • Wow, this is great! Nice sound.

  • damn fine blues, girl! You're a 5 star for sure....

  • Wow,

    good choice,

    good place,

    good voice, and

first of all a great song.

    RIP Rick Danko.
