  • I am so glad I found you...I never knew how important prep and priming was....thank you!!!!

  • you would waste so much primer using a brush. you can put it on with your fingers just fine

  • what primer do you recommend for oily skin? that wont totally break my pocket

  • use monistat anti-chafing gel-powder! its amazing!!!

  • this video was very useful man... thank you very much

  • how are face primers chemically different from moisturizers?

  • Very good video!

I was one of those stupid ones who just PUT the moisturizer to my face without actually rubbing it in :P HAHA

    Thank you:D

  • hi..i have acne and oily skin..and large pores too..i cant make my foundation look natural because i cant wear just one layer of foundation.usually i'll set my liquid foundation with more than one layer of powder foundation because it would be super oily after half an hour and i will have to blot my face.and all my foundation will stick on the blotting paper.wat shuld i do to make my foundation look more natural?

  • You should maybe fast forward the parts of your video where you aren't talking and only applying the makeup; if your videos were shorter they would maybe get more views? But wonderful video, I enjoyed it very much!

  • @jaydelife All that talking is what I like most about his videos. I learn more with him talking about it than him just applying the makeup. He's a thorough teacher and I like the way he explains why he's doing what he's doing. I agree wonderful video. =)

  • You Use Aalot Of MAC Is Mac In The Uk

one of your fans from egypt

  • Wow no wonder my face is always dry I wasn't massaging it in..duh,lol Thanks encore!

  • Koren, you're amazing! love your videos!

  • is priming important? can i just skip priming part when i do my makeup everyday?

  • I use olive oil as my moisturizer because everything else seems to make me break out (decided not to argue with my skin. It wants oil, it gets oil). Would that make a difference, since most conventional moisturizers are water based?

  • how important is priming?

  • what oil free lotion do you use?

  • i LOVE LOVE your videos!! i have a few subs to various people but by far i think yours are more in detail and helpful thank you sweetie cant wait till your next video

  • heyy(: i was wondering, is this primer good? because i wanna get it :)

  • i love your videos, they are so helpful!

question: mac prep and prime and the smashbox photofinish do the same job, right? i watched your video for covering acne scars so i'm just making sure i dont need both to prep my face, either one or the other right?...i most likely i will go with smashbox photofinish

  • you recommend prime my skin with Monistat chafing relief powder gel? TIA

  • thank you so much for your videos!! even that i´m good with make up´s i always learn something new!!

  • cool

  • I just added my video to the video response on how how I prep and prime my face for make-up application. Also, subscribe to my channel to be eligible for my MAC make-up giveaway/contest. Only those subscribed b4 I upload the video will b eligible (for obvious reasons)

  • hey are you a makeup artist?

  • I Sooo needed to know this information, great tut

  • i took notes! :)

    Thanks enkore

  • You are the best!!!!!! Just saved my life!!!

  • what i like to do to get the moisturizer deep in my skin, i use brookstones tri-messager and put lotion on the legs.

  • 3. can i use that same brush that i used for the primer for foundation or should I clean in between?

    4. i get foundation in that suuper fine line under my eye and it looks worse than without any make up. more eye cream? no eye cream? wait longer? wait less? wrong foundation? i am confused. LOL

    5. would you recommend a "normal" eye cream and the mac fast response or either or?

THANKS GUYS, a very confused make up lover :)

  • Hi there, first of all: awesome video! LIke all your videos, big big fan here :)

secondly i have a ton of question so i'll just post them and maybe someone has some tips & tricks for me :)

    1. i have dry skin and heard primers can dry out skin even more. true or myth?

    2. some people recommend primers with SPF but then how does that photograph? would it make a difference to wear a primer with SPF but a foundation without SPF or the other way around?

  • Very helpful indeed. I never used to prime and found that my foundations always wore off really fast. So I've recently started using face primer, and definitely found this tutorial helpful. Great tip on letting the moisturizers set for 15 minutes before applying primers. I wasnt aware of that. Thanks Koren <3

  • THANK YOUUUU!!!

  • thanks for this I always have trouble with this

  • Hi Koren! I have a question... I have a very oily T zone and additionally some times I break up easily I feel that the primer makes me break... Can I just replace it by a minimizing pores lotion?

By the way... I love all your videos... I wish I could watch them all and memorize everything so fast... but ok... it's a process and I am watching them one by one :)... Cheers and hugs... Monica

  • lala

  • very informative. thank you

  • Thanks for these great videos . I want to know what you think of Smashbox's photofinish Light for acne prone skin?

  • You're videos are very helpfull! Thank you! :-)

  • hmm what does primer for?... thank u

  • this was a really really good video but damn i dont know if i can go through all that just to prep my face. it takes me mad long to do the routine i do already loll. u got me really thinking about it though enkore :)

  • i just love you. so sweet yet smarT!!

  • Are there any cheaper but still good primers?

  • Yes, Go to my page for my tutorial on Desitin. Yes Diaper Rash CREAM.

  • @xxxxkissaxxxx I've heard a lot of good reviews on the Hard Candy sheer envy primer.

  • Comment removed

  • @xxxxkissaxxxx try monistat chafing gel (:

  • how long should you let the primer sit before applying your makeup?

  • this is why you're so awesome!! you explain even the most simple things (like how to apply moisturizer) so in-depth!! stuff like this is soo helpful because a lot of us really don't know all this info.. thanks soo much!! it's nice having advice i know i can trust!! bravo!! :)

  • Love your channel

Would love to see a full bridal make-up look from you.

  • What moisturizers are good for acne-prone combination skin?? Thanks

  • a friend of mine uses a oil-free liquid moisturizer and applies it all over the face and then on her oil t-zone uses a tissue to dap of any excess oils!

  • Hi,

could you tell me which is better ? UDPP or TFSI for slightly oily lids and lots of heat and humidity ?

    Thanks !

  • Thanks enkore love your video. Just started subscribing and this prep video is just what i needed.

  • which one do u think is the best for covering huge huge pores? mac refined zone or mac prep+prime or smashbox ??

i can't decide which one i'm gonna buy.

i have oily skin and really huge pores that are kind of gross when i finished applying studio fix compact foundation.

    which one would you recommend?

  • ive been hearing a lot of bad reviews about mac prep and prime, so i advice you not to get it but you can give it a go if you want :)

  • where can you find that mac lip erase thing??

i looked on the site and i cant find it..is it on there?

  • thanks for the tips but how long should we wait for the prep+prime to set before we apply foundation?

  • is this good for people who have acne and large pores (that;s what I have). After I use Mac's studio finish it reveals my pores and they look huge and horrid :(

  • absolutely - primers initially fills in the pores without clogging so that the foundation doesnt sink into them making them more obvious.

  • @tuberooh you should meet the people i go to college with/ they keep saying DONT WEAR PRIMER ITS BAD FOR YOU... God what idiots/

  • Hey have you ever tried the MAC primer with SPF 50? and how does it compare to the regular mac face primer without the SPF. Which do you think is better?

  • i dont like it -- it has a greasy feeling. I like the original better it sets to a nice matte powder-like finish

  • You are awesome!

  • Thanks Koren! I've spent 2 days looking at all your videos sometimes twice. I think I have gone from a complete novice to someone who has a really good foundation knowledge in makeup techniques and the MAC products. Keep up the hard work. xx

  • hey

  • Where in this do I put on my sun block? Living in Arizona and on meds that make me sun sensitive I wear a spf of at least 50.

  • after your moisturizer -- or best yet, use a moisturizer with SPF

  • what should we use to apply primer if we don't use/own a traditional foundation brush??

  • you can use a wet sponge

  • I just brought the Studio Gear Prome Objective Primer, it was recommended buy the Ulta sales lady.

What do you think about it?

  • I don't know if it's normal, but I'm finding that I have to exfoliate every day. I am using a gentle one, but every day if I don't do it I have loads of flaking off dead skin mainly in the T-Zone. It affects my foundation as well and makes it look terrible. Is it bad to do this every day?

  • i actually love the way the lip stuff gives ur lip a nutural tone. i think it can work as a nutral lip colour too

  • i love the bandana, you make me want to wear one all the time :)

    great video once again !

  • can i use a face primer with mineral makeup?

  • yes you can

  • hi my favorite you tube make up artist, i was wondering that they only sell the mac lip erase at mac pro do you have any other suggestions??? thanks

  • which would you think is better, consistency and how it applies-wise, the prep and prime with or without the spf?

    thank :D

  • i like the one without spf

  • I use a combination of macs prep+prime SPF 50, and matte texture cream mixed together, about pea size. is there better primers to achieve matte finish for oily skin? especially in the t zone. for some reason the area around the outside of my nostrils get so greasy and end up thick and cakey looking by the middle of the day.

  • Smashbox Photo Finish Primer in clear

  • Thank you so much Koren, You're amazing :)

  • Hi Koren!

Quick question: would you recommend the photofinish primer from smashbox more than the mac? Also, would you apply it the same with the brush? Thanks so much!

  • Yes i personally like it better. And yes, apply with same brush.

  • yes, definitely.

  • you will need to put at least 2 layers of mascara on to cover the lash primer, otherwise if you just put one thin coat it will look grey. It did not make the lash clumpy, then again, that all depends on the mascara you use. So use a non-clumping mascara.

  • thank you so much for sharing your knowledge i am now confident i wont be doing the same makeup style i did in high school and beyond. i dont want to be trendy but i dont want to be stuck in a time warp either, thanks for helping us 30 something gals.

    you rock

    !

  • hi Koren I have that prep+prime by mac , but I use it everyday... Is it ok to use everyday?

  • yes, its ok. Its got skincare ingredients that makes it ideal for daily use.

  • Koren,Koren he's the man if he can't do it no one can.!!!! Great vid

  • this is very helpful..thanks koren!

  • wow! I learned a lot!! thank you! I was wondering... can I also apply the primer potions with my fingers? cuz I realize that sometimes with a brush a lot of it stays on the brush! Keep them coming! love your videos!

    Greetings from Nicaragua :)

  • Oh. Also, I just bought a sample bottle of smashbox photo finish UVA/UVB with Dermaxyl Complex. Can I apply this the same way as the Prep & Prime or do I use my fingers? I haven't used it yet.

  • yes thats a face primer - use a foundation brush

  • I guess I need to watch ALL your videos before I ask a question because in your MAC collection vid I wanted to know what lip erase was.LOL! Now I know. You rock!

  • you have the best videos, im so happy i found your youtube page! thanks so much

  • When do you apply your UDPP? At the end of your face makeup or after prep and priming?

  • whenever you are ready to do your eye makeup.

  • hey i wanted to know if the MAC prep and prime eye base is a good deal? i just purchased it and i hear everyone just talking about UDPP...is it similar if not better?

  • UDPP is better as it has non-creasing formula. Mac P&P Eye creases on most.

  • Thank you so much for taking the time to share your makeup expertise with us! You're the best!!

  • Hey Enkore!!! I am a huge fan! ou're doing a great job and have helped me unimaginably with make up products!!! But could you please make a list of the products you used in the info box on the right? It would be much more easier... Thank you tons...

  • I Love You EnKore! I always learn something new when I watch your videos! You're the best!

  • Ive been told by a MAC makeup artist to only use half a pump of prep and prime on my face. I would prefer to use more however i have combinartion skin with an oily t-zone. is it ok to use up to 2 pumps?

  • you just want a nice layer/coat on your skin, so what ever amount that takes. theres no set amount really.

  • I love you for this...Thank You!!!

  • ENCORE ROCKS!!

  • I used to skip all of these steps because I was too lazy and I thought that it would be too much work, but I am sooo going to do them now! You look great, and thanks for making it seems easy!! :) Hugs :))

  • I learnt alot! Thank you so much! And thanks for havng no music in the background... coz that makes listening so much easier for non-native speakers. Great how-to do!

  • it did not work 4 me

  • Hey Koren ... Your vids are sooo informational. Thank you for sharing that knowledge with us - How do you store your double ended brushes?

  • I have very few double eneded brushes, and I just simply store them in Pencil Boxes - just the kind kids use for school.

  • what other brand can I use of moisturizer besides mac and laura mercier?

  • Clinique, Clarins, Neutrogena, Eucerin

  • not sure if i replied to this already, but any hoo - Prep & Prime Eye creases, so try to switch to a different primer like MAC Paintpot or UDPP. Those are so far better.

  • im just kind of wonder your nationality, but i like you,do you have a video how to put eyeliner?

  • I just wanted ya to know I hardly if ever wear makeup. But ya make me want to wear it now.I always thought it too much work.Ya've made it simple enough for me.I really enjoy ya videos. Big Hugs~

  • i see the laura mercier lip silk is $20.00.

That's a lot to spend on what looks like a small bottle.

are you sure it's worth the money? does it really work and show great results?

  • yeah -- sooo worth it. It really does great on dry lips. That and probably UDPP are 2 products I dont mind spending their retail price.

  • can i apply the prep + prime with the spf using this same method? the texture is abit thicker compared to this.

  • yes, same method

  • Love your videos, really.

Please keep up the good work, you're sooo inspiring! thankx for everything.

And If it is not too much bother, I would like for you to make a video about how to put the smashbox photo finish, I totally love it but I am not sure that I know the proper way to apply it.

    XOXOXO..

    Vane

  • its exactl how I applied Prep & Prime. same exact way.

  • Have you ever tried mac strobe cream? I was thinking of purchasing it and wanted to know what you thought of the product. Thanks :)

  • i use strobe cream to turn any of my liquid foundations to a more Dewey finish. The product is very drying to the skin because of its high metal content, so make sure to moisturize, moisturize, moisturize prior to application

  • hey koren

i get really puffy eyes on my lids ... not under eyes when i dont get alot of sleep

will the fast response cream work to de-puff that ?

  • yes, fast response key ingredient is Cucumber extract, which will take care of the fuffiness

  • all your videos have 5 stars!! good job :)

  • Hey Koren, this video is really good, thank you! I have a question, you've mentioned that tinted moisturiser will even out uneven skin tone. I have combination skin, really oily t-zone and I'm in a tropical climax country(hot and humid), so, what tinted moisturiser do you recommend? Thanks!

  • tinted moisturizer is the worse to use in hot and humid weather. I advise to look into Stick Foundation as those are the most heat and humidity friendly.

  • when working on a client and you don't have time to wait for it to set, what do you do? also do you always use a primer on client lips...I never have??

    thanks koren!

  • when waiting for it to set, its the best time to go over the foundations and swatch to match the clients skintone. This can also involve mixing foundations to really match sometimes. So by the time Im ready the apply, the primer is all set.

  • Thankx sweetie,

I will keep watching every video that you make.

I can spend hours and hours learning from you.

Thankx also for the fast response!

    XOXOXO.

    Vane.

  • Has anybody tried MONISTAT CHAFING GEL as a PRIMER? I keep seeing these videos where they actually use it as a face primer but im very skeptical. Would you recommend that?

  • Monistat Chafing Gel is the classic original primer. A lot of artists before primers came out uses this as their secret weapon.

  • Really! wow that's cool. would you use it though? or did you ever use it?

  • hey just wanted to tell you thanx so much ur videoz really helped me n also I went n got me a Smashbox Photo Finish primer the price is pretty high but itz great I LUUUUVVVV IIIITTTT....... my make up looked flawless n smooth I just luv it so much omg but i do have a question I'm still looking for a good moisturizer I was wondering if u have any that u think is worth of trying cuz all da moisturizers I have gives me oil and sticky skin o and 1 last Question is tinted moisturizer good to use?

  • hey xoxonncy - glad you liked Photo Finish. You can definitely look into Cliniques moisturizers, or if you're looking for something inexpensive, Eucerin have great moisturizers that are inexpensive and you can find in most drugstores. Tinted Moisturizer is great if you dont need any coverage, but just even out you skin tone.

  • thanx so much 4 da tip I'll definitely look into those, but I thought tinted Moisturizer gives you more coverage? So I'm a lil confused about that really hope u can explain that to me, sorry to bother you so much. ^_^ THANK YOU!!!!!!!!

  • tinted moisturizer is the sheerest of all, its really just what it is - a moisturizer with a little tint to it. If you want coverage you want foundation.

  • ok thanx again koren have a great week MUAHZZz...

  • love how you reply to people's questions. Most people don't =) Great vid, even though I don't wear foundation...the lip part helped!

  • Thank you !!! (^__^)

  • Does the new SPF 50 one actually work well as a prime despite it being a bit greasy? Also have you found that it separates easily in the bottle?

  • yes, thats why I dont particularly prefer the new SPF version.

  • Hey Koren! Wanted to congratulate you on your work and videos! Love them! Watch a different one everyday =.) Had a question... why is it that when I use the prep+prime it makes my foundation go on sheer? And I use Studio Fix Fluid. So I stopped using it because it wouldn't let me achieve a full coverage application. Any idea??

  • hey rafi - do you have the Prp & Prime Original or the new SPF 50 version?

  • I have the original version.. didn't know they came up w/ a new one.

  • hmmm strange that your fix fluid is not going on fuller. I just tried mine, and it went on fine. Are you letting the Primer set prior to foundation? How long have you had the primer?

  • I've had the primer for 6 mos. Didn't know I had to let it set. I'll try that. Why don't they tell u these things when u buy the product... so let it set 15 mins. right?

  • hey raf - not necessarily 15 mins, just dry enough that it sets to that powder-like matte dry feel. Then apply your foundation. Lemme know how it goes!

  • This was awesome !!! very well put .. :)

  • Hi! I love this video! I now know the steps in in preparing and priming my face!

I have a question, would you know if the Philosophy's primer (I think its called "the Present") any good?

  • hi koren... haven't gone thru all of your vids yet, but do you have any info on the monistat chafing gel as a primer?

  • hey nemo - yes, many uses that as a primer, and its actually the original primer way before all these stuff came about, like UDPP, Paintpots, etc.

  • Hey!! I was just wondering if strobe cream by MAC can be used both day and night? Also, would you recommened this moisturizer to be used when taking pictures because it has that dewy shiny look to it??

  • yes, you can use day and night, and...NO, not camera friendly. It bounces off, not ideal for photos.

  • if i use the smashbox primer, do i apply it with a foundation brush as well?

  • hey juu- yes, the same way. Using a brush will give you an even, well-distributed coverage.

  • if we use the smashbox face primer do we apply it the same way?

  • Thank you so much for this informative tutorial. You're right. It's the way you apply the products that make a world of difference.

  • hey fabel - definitely check out Smashbox Photo Finish primer in clear. Its great for summer time specially if youre active and sweating. Blot powder is great too!
